Now that more important characters are being introduced, this is the point where I REALLY suggest you guys hire moderators for your comment section, or avoid reading the comments entirely from here on out, because there's a lot of big reveals and story plot points that are best experienced for the first time with wonder and amazement.
I will say this now because it's happened to EVERY One Piece reactor that hasn't used a moderator, that you WILL get spoiled for episodes here on out, because commenters do NOT know how to hold in their excitement, and will say unecessary stuff.

People who gate keep spoilers this hard are just as bad as people who spoil imo. Just let them experience it how they want, most of the best reactors I know have experienced One Piece in some form at one point but didn't give it the time, meaning they were spoiled of many important things by the time they fully got invested. I am one of these people, I was spoiled simply by being a passive viewer when my brother was watching it, but that never took away from my experience as spoilers mean nothing without context.

Oda didnt want OP to have a mascot but after he heard her voice on Chopper, the Reindeer became the mascot.
From the start, Oda has always designed characters that seem ordinary and even ridiculous if you pay attention. But not with Ace. Oda deliberately designed it to be very cool so that anyone who sees it will definitely be amazed and fall in love.
Kind of like how a younger brother looks up to the older one as cool. He wanted him to feel like ours too

Regarding why Luffy hasn't talked about Ace before, I mean it only makes sense that he didn't only because he had no reason to. Nami never mentioned having a sister to the crew before meeting her in her hometown. Zoro has never told anyone about his past with Kuina either. It just wasn't relevant at the time to Luffy's adventure with his crew. 😂
And the actual reason is,
nobody asked.
You will notice that most of the straw hats don't just indulge extra information. Especially Luffy and Zoro. they simply do not care about their past it's only their present and future
Not to mention that Luffy is an inattentive idiot who (unlike the live action) tends to fall asleep while people are telling their life stories. Honestly, as simple, open and charismatic as Luffy is in terms of his character, he is a real dunce when it comes to smalltalk and sharing things about his life...

Small talk is not important, neither are peoples past, how they currently live their life is what matters. He is truly the most emotionally intelligent person of any anime imo because in his mind actions speak louder than words.

Story wise no real reason for Ace to follow Luffy as Captain at this point, he's his older brother, he's stronger and left their village years before him. He is protective of Luffy as a brother but he has already found a captain he's very loyal to😃 btw the crew don't really seem to talk about their personal lives previous of joining the crew unless something plot wise related happens, Luffy also usually doesn't listen to their backstories.
In the manga Ace doesn't appear much at this point, and while i usually don't like how the anime stretches some things out in the anime, when it comes to him i'm happy they chose to expand his role here😄
I love it that when Luffy was running looking back, Nami said to got Left, and Luffy did go to his left and got separated.
Right. Luffy may be a lot of things but he isn't directionally impaired like Zoro.

Ep 94, from the restaurant scene till the chase, so good. Restaurant based intro scenes are quite cool in this show..first Baratie, now Alabasta. To have a brother like Ace, is very relatable.
I still surprised for how this looked like a filler episode between another vew filler episodes yet is one of the most important and well made episodes in the series.

She also shared that there are images and scripts in the recording, but there are also many parts that need to be "improvised".
She said: ONE PIECE is like the Bible to me, and I look through the calendar with famous lines written on it every day to motivate myself. For example, "What else do you have? You still have a partner!" and "Well, you'll know if you live!" These lines touched me the most.
The author ODA, once said, "When I was drawing Luffy, only Miss Mayumi's voice would appear. Who looks like who? The author himself can't tell.

About reading the episode titles: They can be spoilery or misleading, but very often they turn out spoilery. Think of one piece live action episode 4 that ends with Garp=Grandpa plottwist would have had an episode title "Luffy finds Grandpa". There actually are some titles that spoil the whole episode 😂 It's up to you but i recommend not reading just to keep the story more of a surprise
While it would be nice to have him around all the time, Ace has his own crew. Not only is he loyal to his captain but he also leads his second devision, so it wouldnt make a lot of sense for him to join his kid brothers, much weaker squad

This is a big part of Luffy's character :) He never told anyone about Ace. He never feels the need to tell anyone anything, because it is not important to him. He is selfish in that sense. He really just lives in the moment, on the adventure, and does not really worry about anything else. In the same way in Arlong Park he did not worry about what was happening to Nami. He simply wanted to help out his friend. Nothing else was important to him. It ends up helping Oda write a compelling story, because he can avoid giving away certain information early in the story that becomes important later on

In the manga, there was no fight scene between smoker and Ace. The arm wrestling and the associated scenes were also filler. Ace is much stronger than any person we have seen on Alabasta.
Meaning the Live action won't have those scene either 😫

9:56 when the manga chapter was released (manga vol 18) Ace becomed the most "omg" trendy biggest character of the series, despite he appeared just in 3 chapters (since the success the Toei Animation decided to give him more screentime in the anime so from ep 18 its a mixed filler and original for a while w)
Just imagine: only in 3 chapter manga Ace got tons of merchandise, tons of action figures, tons of "bonus unlockable character in videogames" and more! \°A°/

Guys if you rewatch the episode there is a part where luffy and Ace were talking where a major easter egg type information was given out revealed by luffy, telling how many crew members he wants and what would be their specialty.

It´s actually a pretty well-liked fan-theory that Ace as narcolepsies, so he really just randomly falls asleep everywhere. Since he is well-known (and even people who don’t know him still see the tattoo on his back) he is pretty safe during a sleep-spell. No one dares to mess with him
Trivia: in the comics Ace’s back tattoo was not crossbones around the skull but a Buddhist swastik which represents the infinite cycle. Japanese tv had to censor it because of their global stigma around the similar looking swastika.
I loved your 😮😮 when Ace mentioned Luffy is his brother. Ace is one of the coolest and important characters in One Piece, keep in mind his relation with Blackbeard and Whitebeard, later this will be an inflection point into the story.

“Why hasnt he talked about Ace”. Its really as simple as just “Nobody asked him”. Luffy isnt the type of guy to talk about his life or anything. He is more of a person who lives in the moment. So he never talks about his family or back home unless he is specifically asked about it.
But also as many have said, Ace is already on another crew and is in the position as the second division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. Hes got his own responsibilities and crew to look out for plus, he’s older and stronger than Luffy so he isn’t just gonna join his younger brothers team especially after he’s spent YEARS doing his own thing.
It is sad in a way that he doesn’t want to join but it’s realistic that he wouldnt. He’s got his own life to live

Do NOT read the titles. They give away huge spoilers multiple times throughout the series. The openings can also spoil things like new crew members or upcoming events.
Also, in regards to Ace. Luffy almost never talks about the past. He’s not interested in it. Hence why he usually wanders off or zones out when people explain backstories to him. Unless you specifically ask him something he’s not just going to start up a conversation about it. Similar to how he never talked about Garp in the live action.
