      @@carolemerle9995 indeed. I've had them for 12 years, though never due to something like this. Not knowing what has happened to you and waking up disoriented and unsure of where you are or who is around you is super scary, especially if you've never had one before. I've had 5 concussions in 4 months because of them. Not fun.

      @michaelboucher4243 the nhl paramedics don't wear them. Don't let that stupid health and safety rule get in the way of getting to someone in a serious condition in time. If they need to wear them then whatever, but wear them all the time so they don't spend 5 minutes putting them on before they even get on the ice.

      @@Kurathis552 when it comes to seizures, especially if they come in multiples, every second counts, because all movements during a seizure cannot be controlled. Also, it's one thing if someone is seizing in regular clothes. Those skates could've caused even worse problems. It took far too long to get to him. It appears that once they finally arrived, they were taking the necessary precautions. I commend them for that for sure.

      @Kurathis552 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatAlternativeTransGirl
      "when it comes to seizures, especially if they come in multiples, every second counts..."
      Regardless of what the emergency is, every second always counts. In this case, however, the paramedics were never going to be part of the patient care - there was already a team physician (doctor) and trainers tending to the patient prior to the paramedics' arrival.
      "...because all movements during a seizure cannot be controlled."
      Bodily movements are not top priority in terms of seizures. The top priority is minimizing (or stopping) damage to the brain or heart.
      "Also, it's one thing if someone is seizing in regular clothes. Those skates could've caused even worse problems."
      Such as what, exactly?
      "It took far too long to get to him."
      They had to walk approximately 32 meters - the average person walks 30 meters in 20 seconds; this is assuming flat, paved ground with no obstacles or dangers. At face value, the medics took 33 seconds to reach the patient. That is 13 seconds longer than the average person. HOWEVER, they are on ICE AND they are pushing/pulling a stretcher with gear on top of it.
      In addition to their response time being within a reasonable time frame, they weren't there for PATIENT CARE - the patient had already gone through the seizure with other medical staff (who were less than 3 feet away) on site. The medics were for TRANSPORTATION only.

    My god sad to see a guy convulsing like this. The paramedics were in reverse gear. Disgustingly slow . I could have made it from wales uk 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 faster i think. My love of hockey and my respect to any man who steps on the ice in this brilliant and tough sport. But the care there was sorely lacking in what could have been life threatening. So gled he made a recovery. 🙏

    The EMS there is totally inadequate. One of them was more worried about getting his bike helmet on then hurrying to the player. .What if he had been seriously cut? I hope they improve on this for everyone's safety.

    • @Kurathis552
      @Kurathis552 ปีที่แล้ว

      "One of them was more worried about getting his bike helmet on then hurrying to the player. ."
      P.P.E is a requirement for paramedics to conduct their job safely. Would you think the same way of a firefighter who spent 30 seconds putting on their helmet before going into a fire?
      "What if he had been seriously cut?"
      You have a doctor on scene, and you have trainers on scene. All of which are medically trained to handle emergencies. All of which would be the first on scene in this kind of situation, so they would be the ones to begin treatment.
      "I hope they improve on this for everyone's safety."
      Improve on... what, exactly?
