    The EF is absolutely brilliant. Pays itself off very quickly and the image quality takes one’s breath away. The RF would really have to produce something beyond imagination to convince me to purchase it. This is certainly an awesome time to be in the business of image capturing. Great videos by the way. Have enjoyed all of them.

      Ya, I actually felt exactly the same way going into the test of the RF lens. All I can say is, don’t try out the RF lens, because now I would have a hard time going with the EF, which is crazy considering how much I love that lens.
      And thank you very much, glad you enjoyed them!

    Great review. For an enthusiastic amateur the price differential is massive at 2.5 times the price for the RF 85mm f1.2 ($2,000 AU). My copy of the EF 85mm f1.4 must be a really good copy, as it is critically sharp at f1.8, with f1.4 totally acceptable and I find the IS essential for my 5DSR. A magic lens with fantastic micro contrast.

    Great comparison vid, Justin! I love the RF 85mm f1.2. I ended up picking one up a couple months ago and have been super happy with the results of this lens. Really is the sharpest lens I’ve ever used, even wide open! I am a big proponent for shooting wide open, partly why I ended up with the two monster lenses, the 85 1.2 and the 28-70 f2.

    I mainly shoot in the evening time, low light situation and on the R6, would you think having the IS be more beneficial than having a 1.2? I am having a hard time deciding between the 2 on this aspect.

    • @GableVision
      @GableVision 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He answers that question in the video. The answer is no. Because of the IBIS in the R6. By the way, I'm opting for the f1.4L because next to the R6 I own a 6D and even a 5DII so I have body-backup options.

  • @dima1353
    @dima1353 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The simple answer for cameras with IBIS is sigma art 🙂. Maybe it doesn't support 12 fps on the mechanical shutter. Maybe a little less hit rate with continuous shooting. But price... Price is too good.

    I have heard that CA is really bad on the EF85/1,4, but I fear that verdict came from someone w too much money and hemce maybe not very representative. As the RF85/1,2 costs that much it’s then rather…should I go w RF85/2 or EF85/1,2…
    I am planning to go professional after decades of hobby photographing. I had the old EF85/1,8 bit it was dropped into the ground and after that it had some collateral damage while the main issue was the UV-filter smashed into little pieces.
    So I’d really like to have the 85 and honestly the 85/1,4 seems such a good compromise. As I have bothe the control ring and filter adapters that would give it an edge too…bit not if the lens is bad fully opened as I’d like to shot so quite a lot…
    Would be great to hear a final say to get out of this limbo!!😅😃

      If you like to shoot fully opened, then I don't understand why you do mention the RF85/2.
      I have the RF85/2 here and it's going back: I don't like the feel physically and optically. The bokeh is of good quality, but to me it's just too less.

    It's a lot easier to decide if you check the price of a refurbished Canon EF 85. 1.4 L at $800.00.

  • @Hubieee
    @Hubieee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the DS version you basically pay more money and with the low light capabilities of a f/1.2 lens since the transmission is 2-3 apertures slower.

    a portrait lens that is made to be used - and you pay for it - at 1.4 that must be stopped down for the lack of crispness is a failure.
