The ability to swing that weight around seamlessly and use multiple parts of the body to propel it ACCURATELY is incredible

If I saw this in a martial arts movie, it would break my immersion for being too unrealistic. That's how good this is.
Well yeah, he dances around and makes too many unnecessary movements for it to be practical. Takes a lot of talent no doubt, but I'd also like to see some direct combat-type use.

Seriously, those dance make the attack very unpredictable
@@plmn93 That was shown at the 1:00 mark with the can in the air, all he has to do is start swinging and then he can kick it. The style still wouldn't be practical in a fight for other reasons, but it can be deployed fast enough.

As a martial arts fan and physics nerd. This is just beautiful to watch. Love the way the angular momentum of the dart is used to accelerate it by shortening the rope, then the angular acceleration is turned to linear velocity by removing centripetal force by letting the rope get slack.

Wong Fei Hung was a master of Rope Dart. I remember training it at my Hung Ga school. I always liked this weapon and chain whip.
This weapon and it’s use is an art. A perfect combination of kung fu with a blade, the fluidity of his motions seem effortless. I bet when a master wields this weapon, it is truly a sight to behold.

That technique is insane. Imagine having to go against that, unless you know the art well enough yourself that would be so incredibly unpredictable. Beautiful yet scary.
When it's slowed down you can see how by using an arm or leg to catch the rope row arc of the swing is reduced and the change in centrifugal force amps up the speed. Like a figure skater pulling in their arms and legs to spin faster. It's something I never cught up to when seeing this at full speed.
are you sure you understand what you're saying? because reducing radius this way doesn't automatically increase tangential velocity, his arm or leg exert external force with respect to the pendulum (rope+mass system). Figure skaters reduce the "radius" of their own mass by their own muscle, that is, internal force inside the spinning system.

Studied KungFu for many years in my youth. Bought a rope dark one time and thought I would give it a go. Messed with it for a while and then decided to try a basic “foot shot“ technique. After launching the dart with my foot, instead of the dart flying straight forward away from me, it propelled itself straight up (at a much faster than expected velocity) and passed point first about 2 inches off the tip of my nose and made a nice popping sound when the rope came to tension. I decided at that point that the rope dart was not for me! 🤣 (Hindsight: I should have bought a practice dart!🙄) Nice vid! Keep them coming!

Anyone that has reflexes will see this coming. Anyone that has learned to fight will step to the side, let it go past them, and then end the fight while the person is focusing on not killing themself with their own weapon.

What a lot of people do with nunchaku do is pretty bad, but this is just laughable to a crazy degree
@@ShopperPlug I admit that anyone with proper training will just avoid it and probably try to grab the rope or go real quickly for a hit, but you're thinking like your opponent is not trained either. Anyone who can do this is more than likely to have martial arts training, extensive training too, I can see this being a quick move to surprise you and by the time you're avoiding the projectile the guy will have a free shot at you.
Also it's obviously a joke, there is something funny about imagining a man taking out a rope and start fighting the criminal.

In reality the rope would be a chain and it would not be a training toy what he is using is equal to a wooden sword. People who don't understand combat quit yappen yer mouth. Or go train in combat or even in learn basic physics.
