Aaron introduces the doors vs wheels thought exercise:
Nate, so confidently chooses doors with no hesitation, and Aaron starts listing wheels you wouldn’t normally think of immediately.
Nate: “well sure, if you put thought into it, there’s probably more wheels!” Yes Nate, this is what a thought exercise is.

That Nate doesn't want to count all wheels in a hypothetical question that is about all the wheels is simply amazing lol

I think y'all should do an entire episode of "Would you rather". Such as: Would you rather have x-ray vision or be able to fly? Would you rather travel to the past or travel to the future? I bet it would create some interesting conversation for a couple hours.

I love how this is categorized as an educational podcast and every week you guys have a topic and come in with research but somehow manage to ask more questions of each other that go unanswered than anything else.

My late grandmother was one of the silliest people ever. (I get any comic sense I have from her.) I clearly remember from my childhood that she was notorious for stopping by to see people on a whim. "Let's stop and see what Wanda is up to" and so on. If someone wasn't home when we made these surprise stops Granny would say, "Let's do something so they'll know someone was here." Normal boring grannies might just tape a note to the door, but not my super cool and very quirky Granny. She would overturn a bucket from their garden and set it by their door, move a lawn chair onto their sidewalk to block their path, or any number of other oddball things. I always thought this was just a generational or regional thing, but after today, well, thank you, Nateland, for helping me to realize some 30 years later that my Grandmother actually had MAD NINJA SKILLS. I now wonder how many pillows the woman swiped from unsuspecting sleepers that the family doesn't know about! This has brought back some great memories and has left me in tears of laughter. (I wonder if someone my Granny knew might read or hear this comment and realize that she visited them while they were at the grocery store back in 1985. Bill is like, "It was Jeanette!!!")

Its so great to see Justin on here again, I got to meet him right after his first taping in Springfield, the same club where I had the honor of meeting Dusty Slay this weekend! I want to express my gratitude to all of you down-to-earth comedians that has brought my family closer since we all live in different places, all listen to the pod, and make jokes to each other all the time. Also, my parents met Aaron in St. Louis. Thank you!

Like Nate, I was pee-shy as a child. I couldn’t go if someone was at the next urinal or was perceived as watching me. When I was 6 or 7, my family was traveling along I-95 when I really had to go and couldn’t wait until the next exit. My dad pulled over to the shoulder and I trekked alone up the hill to the wood line. But that was not far enough. I went into the wood line. Still not far enough. Deep enough that I came to a field. Safe from the prying eyes of motorists, I let the stream go.
When I came back to the car in tears, my parents asked “what happened?” To this day I don’t know how I didn’t see or hear it, but a farmer tending the fields on a tractor slowly rolled by, so close I could have peed on the tires. I turned off the flow and ran back crying. Good times.

I was at a wedding last summer where a group of hefty folks collapsed a bench while the bride was reading her vows. The crunch of the wood snapping was so loud everyone turned around and started snickering. It was awful but my favorite part of the wedding.

    Hello Folks!
Been here since episode 1. This podcast is in my top 5 weekly pods I watch/listen to.
My FAVORITE thing about the pod in general, is the honest, innocent way Nate asks questions. “Yeah, but what is a Warlord? Like where does he live?”
It’s like talking to my niece, she’s 4. But it’s also questions I don’t know the exact answer to. 😂 I love it. Every bit of it. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Breakfast on the arrival of beautiful Baby Biscuit.

Aaron, you aren't alone! I went to a private Christian school called Cair Paravel Latin School. It's named after the Chronicles of Narnia book series by C.S. Lewis. It's named that because all the characters in the book are trying to get to Cair Paravel, which is the place of truth and knowledge(Nate is already asleep). Anyway, the school REALLY leans into this, and every time I get an Alumni email, they start it with something like "Hello all you, Kings and Queens of Narnia". Private schools are weird.

Hey Folks! My husband and I recently attended Nate's show in Charleston this past weekend for a quick little anniversary trip. We have been married for a year now on 4-3. My husband, Curt, is a loyal listener to the podcast so it made the perfect gift to him to go see Nate live! It was our first night away from our 3 month old son but the show that Nate, Justin and Graham put on, was such a great distraction. We definitely enjoyed the show with lots of laughs! What I have not enjoyed is trying to determine the wheels and doors dilemma with said husband.. HAHA.

Nate, Justin is right about the pillow. The Ninja keeps the pillow and later they (or the person that hired them) presents it later to guy who had the pillow stolen. This proves that they are not safe and at the mercy of the Ninja. It's like when David spares Saul in 1 Samuel 24 and 26. (I guess David had slightly different motivation).
    I'll go proofread this now.

In early 2021 Nate did two shows at Creek and the Cave in Austin. I was attending the second show and I was waiting in the line outside and I see a girl, who was pretty obviously intoxicated, being taken out of the club yelling, “I hugged Nate Bargatze!” and then heard some of the club employees talking about her sneaking into the green room after the show. I always wondered what the story was behind that and if Nate remembers anything about the interaction.

Pouring cereal into the toilet is a unique way of describing how poor you grew up. I had a "how poor are you" moment at work the other day. My boss took some of us out to lunch, when I asked where we were going he said, "The country club". I responded with, "Is that a restaurant?" The idea of going inside an actual country club was so far outside of my norm that it seemed more plausible to me that there was a restaurant named "The Country Club".

Nate- honestly not commenting about the podcast, although I listen weekly. Tennessee kid is the reason I now listen to standup. I have recruited multiple people to the Nate Bargatze bandwagon. But for whatever reason you refuse to come to Charlotte, so I have been forced to pick a city to travel too. My friends said I should set my online dating profile to Tampa and try to find a date that way. (So I officially have 24 days to find someone who wants to have a quality Sunday funday featuring your tour.) You could be the reason my mom stops being concerned about my love life, or I could get murdered. So no pressure. Just please make it a quality show, I won’t forget so if the guy sucks I don’t care, and/or plot a real surprise and add Charlotte to the tour dates.
May comment again if this makes the comment quality check to next episode and worthy of a follow up to see our possible contenders. Stay tuned, and thanks for all the laughs.

It’s funny y’all bring up ISIS. I have a student (1st grade) named Isis and a boy came up to me the other day crying and said “Isis said something mean to me.” I responded with “As long as she didn’t say Allah Akbar I think you’re okay buddy.”
The joke didn’t land. Between sobs he just said “Whaaaatt?” And I just had to say nothing buddy, go on and keep playing.
It was a sad day for me too, I had one of my best comebacks and there was no one around to understand it. Brutal.
I also agree with the Will/Chris thing, no joke gives you an excuse to hit somebody, especially not in that kind of environment. They’re public figures, it comes with the territory. Seems like the more money people make or the more power they have, the thinner their skin gets.
Anyways, loved the show as always and congrats to Big Daddy Bates!

I too am a big fella, and a few years ago my cousin had a bunch of people over to his new home for a BBQ. The house was build on a hill so it was like a terraced Deck in the back. Well I grabbed my plate of food and looked for a place to sit. I saw one on the second level down, there were already about 10-12 people on it but there was a little bit of space, so I took the step from the top deck down to the next level... I hadn't even put all my weight on the deck and I felt it shift... I lifted my foot up and watched the deck collapse Of course everyone looked right at me the big dude with a plate full of food! Fortunately none of the levels were more than a couple feet of the ground so no one got hurt but the Deck was completely broken... Woopsies!

It has me looking at EVERY machine/appliance in my house and work and asking myself what doors and wheels are inside

  • @greghudgens203
    @greghudgens203 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Don’t feel bad, Nate and Justin, I also hadn’t heard about the wheels v. doors debate until I watched, but I’ve thought about it a lot this week. Wheels win. The math is too much to get into in one comment, but for context I used to do these sorts of exercises all the time in job interviews, with questions like “How many lightbulbs are in the City of Los Angeles?” and “How many golf balls would fit inside a 737?”
I never ended up getting any of these jobs, and my first thought was doors, so that’s a pretty good indication the right answer is wheels.
Either way, just saw you in Knoxville and it was THE BEST. Good luck with the Grammy this week.

There’s obviously more doors than wheels if you don’t count all the wheels.

Aaron: “Well, they have modern weapons now…” hahaha, they still have to learn hand to hand combat, dude! That’s hilarious.

I think Aaron made this door vs wheels thing up. But if you're thinking doors vs wheels then you have to consider all doors like kitchen cabinets, fridge doors, appliance doors, door house doors, etc.

After many requests to have Traffic as the topic I get two hilarious stories about peeing in traffic and leaving friends on the highway. As much time on the road you all spend alone or together I know there is more here…but taking it as a win!

Wheels vs Cars might be a close race if you keep it domestic, but wheels wins by a landslide when you remember our friend the shopping cart. Think of how many shopping carts are in every one store!

If Nate, or any of the other guys want to learn some "stand-up" martial arts or self-defense, definitely try Krav Maga. There's a great school in Nashville y'all can try out, called Nashville Krav Maga. Y'all should check it out!

On tires vs wheels, tire manufacturers make tons of replacement wheels for cars/trucks. No one is making replacement car doors.

Every car has doors. Limos. Cupboards doors. Doll house doors. It’s not as big as a win for wheels as you think. Office buildings. Every house probably has 50 doors with regular doors and cupboard doors.

Glove compartment, hood, and trunk are all doors, right? Some vehicles have a “fuel/gas” door. Does the oil cap count?
