Yeah can’t believe they reduced her character to being autistic and thinly veiled “foreshadowing”. Though can’t imagine HOTD ever acknowledging that there is another dragon riding Targaryen Queen out there so they had to make her retarded.
The thing to remember about Rhaenys is that she isn't currently aligned with anyone. Her husband has been gone for six years, Rhaenyra and Daemon conspired to murder her son (in her eyes anyway), and now her cousin Viserys is dead and she suspects the Hightowers of foul play (because how could you not?). She has no obligations to anyone and no loyalty to anyone, but that also leaves her, her granddaughters, and Driftmark vulnerable. Even if she had wiped out all the Greens, there would be consequences for her house, and she has no certain allies. She needed to appear strong, but not aggressive (in political terms, what she did would not be considered aggression) to keep her options open for the coming war. When she left, she basically said: "Don't fuck with Driftmark." It's also worth mentioning that the Greens, regardless of their treachery, were Viserys's family. Alicent was his wife, Otto was his friend, and Aegon, Helaena, and Aemond were his children as much as Rhaenyra was. Rhaenys is not a kinslayer, and she respected Viserys. She even loved him, in her way. He wouldn't have wanted them dead and Rhaenys knows what it means to lose a child.
It was such an odd conversation 😭 like why use the fact that she was passed over for Viserys and Viserys's child Rhaenyra in an effort to make her support Viserys's other child Aegon? Not to mention she has much stronger family ties to Rhaenyra anyway
@@TabooTalz RIGHT, jace and baela will be king and queen, luke and rhaena will be lord and lady of driftmark. four of them are literally her grandchildren (yes, jace and luke included bc they are acknowledged as velaryons).
She didn’t kill them because she would be labeled a kinslayer AND a kingslayer, which in westerosi culture is extremely taboo, and slaying kin would apparently “curse” you. Plus also it’s not really her war to begin or problem to solve, only to support her house
@@Yes-qr4umit definitely could’ve been handled better, I think the idea that aegon after his coronation goes outside of the dragon pit to see more people cheering then they all look up to see Meleys and rhaenys flying over the kingdom breathing fire into the air to threaten them before leaving would’ve been better writing wise
"get the wall" means execution in modern slang, so I'm assuming he's one of the ones who hasn't seen GOT and was confused if it meant he'd be killed or something else 😅
For those that are wondering why there are two crowns. During the Conquest, Aegon I forged himself a crown, which is the one they give Aegon II in this episode. After the death of the Conqueror the crown passed first to his oldest son Aenys I and then to his younger son Maegor I (after Aenys died, his brother Maegor usurped the throne in place of his nephews which led to years of chaos and rebellions). After Maegor was found dead (sat on the Iron Throne skewered by its blades), the last surviving son of Aenys I, Jaehaerys, was Crowned king at 14 years old. During his long reign Jaehaerys chose to wear a new crown, a crown for peace instead of war, which then got passed down to his grandson Viserys. And that's why the Targaryens have two crowns.
also in real history it's not uncommon for a monarch to create their own crown. sometimes they use the inherited one, sometimes they want a personal one that they like and represents their personal taste.
What i love most about this show is how well they portray the effects of being a first son vs second son vs a woman. The life alicent had vs the life Rhynaera had and how they treated their children because of it. Which is a big part of why the kids are the way they are.
And Dreamfyre's eggs are rumoured to be the same eggs that Daenarys received in GoT. It's the same dragon that Aemon went to see in Episode 5 to0, where he almost got burned alive.
Haelena has prophetic dreams which are unique to Targaryans. She also predicted that Aemond will lost an eye when he will be claiming dragon. Maybe Allicent and rest of her family should listen to poor Haelena more.
rhaenys’ decision not to kill the greens all at once will make sense in the next episode. but also, remember alicent said “ring the bells when you have an answer” when she asked for her support and THAT was her answer +++ kinslaying a crime/great taboo in westeros. rhaenys and the greens are technically from the same house
@@DanLanningPRTeam which part of my comment says it's a great scene? lol i agree, it's not a great addition to the plot but i only pointed out how they justified rhaenys' actions
It's hard to keep up with all the names and who rides which dragon. As we know when one rider dies another can claim them so many of the dragons we see in the show have had multiple riders in their lifetimes. A list of current riders if you're interested. I haven't included any character that isn't known in the show by ep9. Rhaenyra - Syrax (yellow) ~same age as her Daemon - Caraxes (The Blood Wyrm) ~65yrs Children: Baela - Moondancer (pale green) hatched to her Rhaena - has an egg Jace - Vermax (green) hatched to him Luke - Arrax (white) hatched to him Joffrey - Tyraxes hatched to him Aegon - Stormcloud hatched to him Viserys - has an egg Rhaenys - Meleys (The Red Queen) very fast, possibly the fastest. ~70yrs Laenor - Seasmoke (Grey) ~30yrs Laena - Vhagar ~180yrs Viserys I - Balerion (the Black Dread) oldest and biggest until his death before ep1. Children: Aegon II - Sunfyre (the Golden) hatched to him Helaena - Dreamfyre (pale blue) ~100yrs Their children: Jahaerys - Shrykos born to him Jahaera - Morghul born to her Maelor - has an egg Aemond - Vhagar
@@what.are.you.doing.stepbroI'm not certain about the ages which is why I put the ~. By 72AC Caraxes was a 'young dragon'. We are at 129AC so he's 57+(young dragon years) which I think is around 10 years. Meleys was claimed in 75AC and was big enough to be ridden and the fastest dragon at the time. So could have been an adult already. Either way, they're about the same age but I don't have definitive numbers. Meleys was previously ridden by Alyssa (Daemon and Viserys' mother) Vhagar was ridden by Baelon (Daemon and Viserys' father) Caraxes was ridden by Aemon (Rhaenys' father) It's kind of cute that the dragons switched families, Caraxes went to Daemon and his parents dragons went to the Velaryons.
List of everyone's dragon for future reference: (From biggest to smallest in size, and while size does matter with dragons, battle experience and the rider also matter) 1)Vhagar - Aemond Targaryen's green she-dragon (Biggest, strongest, most experienced, on paper unbeatable by anyone else right now, basically a Hydrogen Bomb Tsar Bomba) 2) Vermithor - Unclaimed on Dragonstone bronze colored (King Jaeharys's old dragon - he was king in ep 1, lots of battle experience) 3) Sheepstealer - Unclaimed wild dragon on dragonstone brown (Wild and never claimed, but big) 4) Silverwing - Unclaimed she-dragon on dragonstone silver colored( Queen Alysanne's old dragon- Jaehaeyr's wife, no battle experience) 5) Dreamfyre - Haelena's blue dragon (no battle experience but mother of most big dragons) 6) Caraxes - Daemon's blood red dragon (deformed serpentine dragon with a lot of battle experience and has the most experienced rider) 7) Meleys - Rhaenys's rusted red she-dragon (fastest dragon in the world, not a lot of battle experience tho) 8) Syrax - Rhaenyra's yellow she-dragon (No battle experience, also a mother type dragon, would get stomped on by most middle sized dragons) 9) Grey Ghost - unclaimed wild dragon on dragonstone grey (quite and shy, avoids people) 10) Sunfyre - Aegon II's golden dragon (the most beautiful dragon in the world but no battle experience, its like a lambo in a world of batmobiles, looks cool but would get stomped in a fight) 11) Tessarion - Daeron's deep blue she-dragon in Oldtown (he wasnt in this season but hes Alicent's youngest son who is living in oldtown as a ward, its blue and is very impressive in fight in the future) 12) Seasmoke - Laenor's misty grey dragon seen in ep 4 (lots of battle experience, MVP fighter dragon can beat much bigger dragons) 13) Vermax - Jacaerys's light green dragon (not much experience, kinda on the smaller side 14) Moondancer - Baela's dragon (Another MVP fighter dragon) 15) Arrax - Lucerys's grey dragon (Small, a bit bigger than a couple of horses, fodder rn) 16) Tyraxes - Joffrey's dragon (Small af barely rideable) 17) Stormcloud - Aegon's [Rhaenyra and Daemons's son] dragon (small, barely rideable) 18) Shrykos - Jaehaerys's [Aegon and Haelena's son] dragon (baby dragon) same 19) Morghul - Jaehaera's [Aegon and Haelena's daughter] dragon (baby dragon) 0) Cannibal - Unclaimed wild dragon on dragonstone, (size unconfirmed but possibly the biggest ever seen) I would classify dragons into 4 categories based on size: Big, medium, small and baby dragons. They would be as follows: Big dragons: Vhagar, Vermithor, Sheepstealer, Silverwing, Dreamfyre, Cannibal. Medium dragons: Caraxes, Meleys, Syrax, Sunfyre, Sea-smoke, Tessarion, Grey Ghost. Small dragons: Vermax, Arrax, Tyraxes, Moondancer. Baby dragons: Storncloud, Shrykos, Morghul. As you can see, on average even though the greens only have 4 dragons (Sunfyre, Vhagar, Tessarion and Dreamfyre), their dragons are on average much larger and Vhagar on her own can change the game on her own. The blacks have way more dragons, but their dragons are all on the medium and smaller side, with only Caraxes and Sea-smoke(which is currently unclaimed) being actually impressive fighters. Meleys is the fastest but has no battle experiece because her 2 riders never rode her into battle, and Syrax is a glorified private jet for Rhaenyra. This does not count the unclaimed dragons. Dead dragons: Balerion - Aegon I "the conqueror" 's dragon, last riden by King Viserys before its death (biggest ever in westeros, it was bigger than Vhagar with CENTURIES of battle experience, was the last living creature to see Valyria, basically the size of two A380's on top of each other, died of old age) Meraxes - Queen Rhaenys's she dragon (Aegon I's sister's dragon) (super big, died in battle in dorn) Quicksilver - King Aenys's dragon (died in battle while being riden of Aenys's son Prince Aegon against Balerion riden by King Maegor who chomped him up in the last great war in westeros 60 years ago) Not mentioning future dragons not yet born - Morning, Drogon, Viserion, Rhaegal, Last unnamed baby dragon who died at birth.

Alicent clutching pearls in that council meeting like she didn't make her kids marry each other and didn't scream at Aegon that he should be king in ep6. Getting forgetful there queenie.
in episode 6 she was convinced viserys was going to change the heir, thats why she kept going on about jace and luke. Her not being involved directly with the council makes sense (her father was not in Kings landing atp, and on her side it seems she was only close to viserys, cole and larys) It seems appropriate for her not to be involved in their plans + be shocked by them
@@vbb2076 not involved? sure. shocked? idk about that. She knowingly surrounds herself with terrible people so she can act outraged when they do terrible things.
@@Velociraptour you can clearly see that she is shocked at the way they were going to proceed lmao, otto and the council were planning on a quiet assassination, alicent went for terms and tentative for peace -> they had different opinions on this, hence alicent's shock imo
@@Velociraptour In the book it is much clearer. No spoilers ahead. Alicent does believe they will end her childrens lifes. The council meeting is very different. They only managed to convince Aegon to take the crown, because they made him believe it's the only way to safe his siblings and children. He even says what brother would steal his sisters crown. Episode 9 was a huge middlefinger for team green. There is a big difference between the characters in the book and the show. Alicent is much less sympathetic in the book and more ambitious. Aemond is just terrible in the book, but very loyal to his brother. Aegon is a bit like Bobby B from GoT, drinks and sleeps around, has bastard children. There are no fighting pits in Kingslanding. Helaena is said to be happy and cheerful and a good mother. She isn't a dreamer. Aegon and her get along fine, they even share the same chambers. Daeron, Alicents 4th child with his she dragon Tessarion is completly missing in the show.... He is the one most suited for kingship on team green and a good person like Helaena. I think a lot of people who are team green read the book. By watching the show it's almost impossible to root for them.
Rhaenys couldn't kill them because of the political backlash. Its a very multifaceted choice. Ill break it down for you. 1) The realm has been at peace for 60 years, thats why all the peaceful lords are very hesitant to start a beef, while the more warlike lords are itching for a war. Thats why tensions are very high. Rhaenys killing them would have been the equivalent of WW2 in westeros. 2) Kinslaying is a huge taboo in westeros, you cant kill your family wihtout significant religious and social backlash, she would have been a political outcast for basically no gain to her. 3) She's not actually on team black, shes a neutral party, this entire stunt was her showing that Driftmark is neutral but not weak. 4)Even minus the kinslaying, regicide (killing the king) is a major MAJOR taboo in westeros (ex: Jaime in game of thrones is one of the most hated people in the realm for being the Kingslayer). 5) Otto Hightower, Tyland Lannister and Alicent were also on the podium, if she killed them, Driftmark would be at war with the Lannisters(and by extension the entire Westerlands) and House Hightower (and by extension House Tyrell and the Reach). 6) Rn Shes only established a neutral position and left her party as open to negotiation while demonstrating possible hostility, she can now engage in negotiations with both sides to get the best deal for her family. 7) Rhaenys does not like Rhaenyra, infact she thinks they killed her son, so shes actually no friend to them either, Rhaenys just didnt do what WE wanted her to do, but based on what she NEEDS to do, shes on point.
Well done. A concise comment that accurately gives context. Now wait for the replies that insist this was simply bad writing, even when it makes narrative sense according to how you've explained it.
@@withxoutxlife when i watched the episode i was also pissed in the moment, before i actually thought about the situation. I think people didn't grasp it because the show did not do enough to give the political and actual implications of the choice. Some of these aspects i only knew about because of Game of thrones and the books. Maybe if they had a scene where rhaenys was somehow warned about attacking the royal family and the implications, then the audience would be more receptive. I also noticed that people r super pissed about rhaenys killing all the civilians in the dragon pit, and i was confused too, but then i realised probably something they did for a future event that takes place. Ill mention it here but please beware the spoiler. Spoiler: The storming of the dragonpit is an event that occurs later in the story where civilians storm the pit and kill 4 dragons. I think this dragon based massacre could have been thought off as a motivating factor for the civilians to avenge the fallen later. im not 100% sure that they will use this when the time comes, but this is my assumption rn.
@@danika9411 oh for sure, it was definitely a shock value scene for the sake of television. Iirc it's not even in the books and didn't change anything in the plot. *Maybe* it's an important scene to denote the lack of care for smallfolk (adding to other scenes like some random Driftmark dude being sacrificed for Laenor's escape, Rhaenyra saying their opinions don't matter when she watched that play, Aegon betting on child fighting rings, etc) which ties in to many future events but I think I'm reading too much symbolism into what was probably just written for entertainment purposes lmao
This is what anime brain do to people i guess. People are used to seeing characters kill others in anime without consequences that its hard to comprehend what killing one's own kin or the king will have.
@@smol6193 bro , she already have a nickname "the queen who never was" ... if she did that she would get "the queen who burns kings.." or something like that. She has no right to burn anyone.
@@smol6193 but she killed dozens of innocent people only to remain neutral. and later the war between aegon and rhaenyra killed thousands more. if she had sacrificed her legacy and name here and killed them the war would have been prevented. but it's a dumb writing decision to create a situation like that to begin with
Rhaenys didn’t kill them because the greens are her family as well, she doesn’t want to be a kinslayer AND a kingslayer (if you count Aegon as a king). She’d be punished and her reputation would be ruined. She didn’t mind killing those peasants because the nobility view them as inferior. And even if she did kill them, the war would not be over, because aegons son Jaehaerys could claim the throne with the backing of oldtown.
You gotta remember how big perception is in this show. Rhaenys would be a kinslayer as well as a regicide. Power belongs wherever the public believe it belongs
Instead of my usual Dragon Lore, I'll comment on a few different things from throughout the episode: [+] For non-GoT watchers, when Alicent was threatening that one lord on the Small Council, she mentioned "the Wall". It is a large structure of ice in the north nearly seven hundred feet tall. When criminals/traitors are captured, they are usually given the option of death or "taking the black", which is to join the Night's Watch who guard the wall. Basically it's a prison sentence because those who betray their vows and abandon the Watch are sentenced to die anyway. [+] The twins on the Kingsguard, Erryk & Arryk, are rather important and come into play. And although they are identical and impossible to tell apart, Erryk is the one who freed Princess Rhaenys. You'll see him again next episode in a VERY important scene ;) [+] Part of the reason why the Greens took power so easily was that they kept the death of Viserys secret (you saw them imprisoning the Red Keep's servants to prevent word from spreading) long enough to gather the lords already in King's Landing to swear fealty to Aegon. And if they didn't, they were imprisoned so as to force their houses to swear allegiance/prevent them from joining Rhaenyra in fear that their liege lord be put to the death [+] RHAENYS WAS SPITTING FACTS TO ALICENT DURING THAT ENTIRE SCENE!!! Also, I just want to note that Alicent is a whole contradiction. She's over here admitting that Rhaenys should've been Queen over Viserys (although I'm sure she just said that in an attempt to gain Rhaenys' support), but then in the same breath saying Aegon should be King over Rhaenyra. Like it's basically the same situation, a younger male being chosen over the elder female (although in Rhaenyra's case, she was the NAMED heir) [+] The conversation Alicent and Aegon had in the carriage thing (not exactly sure if it's considered a carriage). She was telling him he needed to be a good King and a good husband to Helaena, but then he simply asked her if SHE, his mother, loved him. SHE DID NOT SAY YES, SHE CALLED HIM AN IMBECILE! So once he is crowned and witnesses the crowds' cheers, he perceives that as love and relishes it. [+] Alicent had the City Watch (basically King's Landings' police force that if you remember, Daemon used to command) corral the people to the Dragon Pit and crowned Aegon before them. That way they see him as the rightful ruler rather than Rhaenyra [+] Yes, Aegon was crowned with Aegon the Conqueror's crown. The crown that we always saw Viserys wearing, which originally was worn by Jaehaerys the Old King, will reappear..... [+] The sword that Aegon held up at his coronation is the Valyrian sword Blackfyre, one of the two owned by House Targaryen (the other being Dark Sister that Daemon wields). It is almost like a sign of legitimacy. For a bit of a history lesson, King Aenys I gifted it to his half-brother Maegor because Aenys was not much of a warrior but Maegor was. Dowager Queen Visenya, Maegor's mother, viewed this as Aenys admitting he was not fit to be King and that Maegor should be. DRAGON LORE TIME!! Rhaenys' dragon that made a special appearance at the coronation of Aegon II is none other than "the Red Queen", Meleys. It is unknown when she was hatched, but by 75 AC, she was considered one of the swiftest dragons in Westeros, easily outpacing Caraxes (Daemon's) and Vhagar (Aemond's). A previous rider of Meleys was Princess Alyssa Targargyen (daughter of King Jaehaerys I & Queen Alysanne, sister-wife to Prince Baelon, mother to King Viserys I & Prince Daemon). She actually took her children on dragon back when they were infants (Viserys when he was only nine days old, Daemon when he was fourteen days old)
Had Rhaenys killed them all, there would be no more show. The war that's about to come, called "The Dance of the Dragons" is literally the greens versus the blacks, that's the whole premise of the show.
Exactly my reaction every time I see people screaming “burn them all” to the screen when that scene comes up. Like, so you don’t want to see the story?? Where’s the fun? Killing the most interesting characters at once too
she killed so many innocent people that day but didn't kill her enemies and ended the war with a single dracarys. I hate them for adding this unnecessary scene that was only added for shock value
I blame Viserys, he had no reason to name his son Aegon when he knew about the prophecy and still did it. Now his daughter who he named heir is now fucked thanks to him.
In all fairness to go from being bed ridden for months maybe years bc of disease, just to rise up & go to court for you child to ensure her succession is safe says a lot more about whom the King wanted as heir vs some off hand comment made high on milk of the poppy moments before his death. I think it’s absurd that Alicent took that comment as a go ahead to make Aegon heir. It’s ridiculous actually.
@@LastNameAvailable the blame isn’t shouldered by one person. This whole situation was a result of everyone’s actions including Alicent and Rhaenyra. Ofc Alicent’s assumption was absurd and stupid. But so was Viserys. He knew his daughter was to be faced with a challenge when his son was born, so why name him Aegon? Prophecy aside, it’s still the name of the first king.
Viserys Made a lot of mistakes, literally the fault for the dance lays on him only, he should've renamed Rhaenyra his heir after the birth of Aegon. The majority of Westeros follows the inheritance law of "A younger son comes before an older daughter", that's tradition, both sides had rights to the throne he should've at least made another council to avoid war just like Jaehaerys I did, but no.
The entrance of Rhaenys was just badass 🔥 the fact that she did Nothing other than appear with her dragon just sent the message that she have the upper hand. In that moment the hightowers know that They are in big trouble if she decides to join Rhaenyra, because they basically did treason. I felt like it’s a more wise move to had do nothing than just kill them and go in civil war with no ruler. Plus, the fact that Rhaenyra is not even aware of all that is happening it could weakend her claim even more.
The twin who freed and escorted Rhaenys is Erryk; he's the one who was guarding Aegon, which is why he knows more about what kind of things Aegon is up to than his brother, and likely why he decides to help Rhaenys (and also why he didn't bother to help his brother earlier when they found Aegon).
23:42 "King Viserys is dead, long live King Aegon." Hearing the cries, Munkun writes, some wept whilst others cheered, but most of the smallfolk stared in silence, confused and wary, and now and again a voice cried out, "Long live our Queen."
Remember- men would sooner put the realm to the torch than see a woman ascend the iron throne. Its not that nobody knew what was going on. They accepted it because Aegon is the first surving son of Viserys, and it was always expected that he would take the throne, not Rhaenyra. So all those oaths people took, they only did it because Viserys was alive and King. This is why when the show first started, it started with Viserys being chosen as King because he was a male and Rhanys is a woman.
Despite I'm team black 💯 I must admit, Aegon looked badass during the coronation, I give him that lol. The black Targaryen style outfit+ the Blackfyre (Aegon the Conqueror's sword) and Aegon the Conqueror's crown... epic 🔥🔥
Rhaenys is now the biggest mass murderer of westeros, at least in terms of a single incident. In our own worlds definition a terrorist. She killed probably hundreds of poor innocent people just to.. Make a point? Look cool? I hated this scene, it just does not makes sense. Wheres the dragon of Aegon and healena during this? You would assume they would react instantly when their rider is in danger, and they are just under them. How do you burst through the ground, even as a dragon? Beats me. Besides, Rhaenys would be dead or horrible injured if she sat on the dragons back during it. I also dont think Rhaenys would do something like that, based on her personality earlier in the season. Spectacle over logic and reason, hope the trend doesnt continue. We saw how GoT was ruined by it.

THIS EPISODE WAS POORLY WRITTEN and here's why: they changed so much from the book that the story lost its taste, alicent didn't misunderstand viserys words in the book but moved to crown aegon by her own choice driven by the fact that rhaenyra or daemon might assassinate her sons if they came to power, aegon wasn't visiting any children fighting pits or leaving his kids there in the book, alicent wasn't defending rhaenyra at the council in the book but wanted her dead alongside her sons and daemon so they won't come after her family and start war where many would be caught in the midst of the dragons flames, but only then alicent convinced aegon to sent peace terms and he agreed, and larys wasn't a foot fetish guy and niether did alicent show her feet to him in the book but instead he was in debt to her because she made him lord of harrenhal and promised him with more power INSTEAD of pathetic feet pics, also larys and aegon were there at the greens council and had great dialogue, criston killed the old lord bessbury willingly following alicent's order not "i didn't meant to" guy, rhaenys wasn't held prisoner or even at KING'S LANDING to begin with and OMG that last scene where she crushed thousands under her dragon so she could leave the greens alive WAS THE MOST CRINGE WRITTING EVER and no way george rr martin (the fire and blood book author) would write such a farce, this show literally destroyed all team green characters in one episode but at least they kept aemond as the book which is why some of you guys liked him because his writing is true to the book, the greens can be evil yes but at the same time should be interestingly evil and sometimes sympathetic but also ambitious and amusing to watch on screen NOT irritating, THIS SHOW PROVED TO BE BIASED TOWARDS TEAM BLACK, i mess GOT where the writing PEAKED and the characters are GREAT

Some more info, guys. Can't wait for the final episode. 1) We finally met two of Aegon and Healena's children, the two twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. They also had a third son in the source material , Maelor, but we don't see him, so maybe they cut him out of the show. We'll find out next season for sure. Other thing Idk if the show will keep is that Jaehaerys was born with six fingers on his left hand and six toes on both feet. Good old incestuous deformities never fail to show up, not everyone is gonna come out looking like Daemon or Rhaenyra in these circumstances. Honestly, it's odd half the Targaryens don't look horribly deformed with all the inter-marrying they do. Guess viewers would be a lot less invested if the incest in the show is not between people that are hot af, lol. 😅 Can't wait for next episode 👋
She didn't kill them because it wasn't her war to start. It is the true heirs. Not only that but if she HAD burned them all, it wouldn't have stopped anything since Visery's and Alicent had another son that wasn't present for the ceremony.
What's funny to me is Viserys probably wouldn't have said that on his deathbed if Rhaenyra didn't ask for his help. He probably had a lapse of time where he thought he was still talking to his daughter. I suppose if she didn't come to him in his room he wouldn't have showed up at the audience and things might have gotten way worse for her. But now Alicent is convinced that her cause is utterly just. What a mess.
its kinda crazy that Rhaenyra put Cole in the position he's in now. There's a reason that men from noble houses aspire to be Kingsguard, its the embodiment of chivalry, duty and honour and they KNOW what's expected of them. They made him really interesting in the show, he's such a bad fit for the role and it makes total sense that he's a loose cannon.
There's a deleted scene, now up on TH-cam, for episode 10 where it shows Rheanys went to Dragonstone to warn Rheanyra, but also grab her granddaughters and flee. She tells Beala, who wants to fight, that they should return to High Tide and stay out of it. Rheanys didn't kill Aegon because she had no intention on fighting for either side. Beala wants to fight for team black, and after reminding Rhaenys of Leana, it helps convince Rheanys to pick a side, that and how Rheanyra handles herself in front of everyone. That one deleted scene changed my mind about this whole scene. Yes, its still flashy and unnecessary, but her decision to not kill "team green" makes more sense to me now.
The dragons and riders The Blacks Carex- Damon Rheanyra-Syrex Lucerys-Arrax Jacaerys- Vermax Rhaenys-Meleys Baela-mondancer Joffrey-Tyrexes The Greens Aemond-Vhagar Aegon-Sunfyre Rhelena-dreamfyre

31:12 There was a question about the fire and the answer is basically "yes", but not to Vhaegar in this scenario. The reason why she doesn't blow fire that much, and even when she wanted, she was slow, it's because she is old, not like extremely old, but she is very near to crossing the line of age when she would go into essentially retirement, since old dragons fly and breathe fire less
i really, really, really hope yinz watch game of thrones. the first 4 seasons are the most perfect television ever made. nothing will ever live up to those first few seasons of GoT in terms of plot and character development, and nothing will ever match up to the later seasons in terms of spectacle
Tbf, yes, Rhaenys could've killed them all there but why would she? What the green are doing is obviously wrong that COULD pottentially trigger a war but it's not her role to kil them all. She would be comitting an enormous crime for something that could pottentially be solved by "talking". Either way, she showed them that she's not their ally and she left to warn Rhaenyra
2:52 BRO. The Brilliance/Success behind George Martins books was that he had a story to tell that centuries of history, plots, and had intricate world building maps of his stories. You could “milk game of thrones” for years and there would still be stories to tell! What I loved about his last two books was that it was originally meant to be one, but he wanted to tell the story fully and split them in two! Also PAY ATTENTION TO THE GREENS

Wish they'd listen to her more 😭
I like to think she meant Vermithor too
@@rubi_illustrations vermithor was on dragonstone
Yeah can’t believe they reduced her character to being autistic and thinly veiled “foreshadowing”.
Though can’t imagine HOTD ever acknowledging that there is another dragon riding Targaryen Queen out there so they had to make her retarded.
Maybe she was talking about aegon too
The thing to remember about Rhaenys is that she isn't currently aligned with anyone.
When she left, she basically said: "Don't fuck with Driftmark."
It's also worth mentioning that the Greens, regardless of their treachery, were Viserys's family.
Exactly! Ik they say “might as well” but it’s so much more complicated than that. It’s the game of thrones

Her point is Aegon has more of a claim. Gender and blood and tradition. Raenys was closer blood relation wise and also had more of a claim

8:23 "whats the wall?" I always forget that non-GoT watchers dont know anything about that stuff
What i love most about this show is how well they portray the effects of being a first son vs second son vs a woman. The life alicent had vs the life Rhynaera had and how they treated their children because of it. Which is a big part of why the kids are the way they are.
8:26 “what’s the wall”

I literally gasped when he said that
Dreamfyre is Helena’s. Aegon’s dragon is called Sunfyre❤️
And Dreamfyre's eggs are rumoured to be the same eggs that Daenarys received in GoT. It's the same dragon that Aemon went to see in Episode 5 to0, where he almost got burned alive.
Rhaenys commanding Meleys to roar at Alicent that way was “the bell ringing” that Alicent was waiting.
Haelena has prophetic dreams which are unique to Targaryans. She also predicted that Aemond will lost an eye when he will be claiming dragon. Maybe Allicent and rest of her family should listen to poor Haelena more.
rhaenys’ decision not to kill the greens all at once will make sense in the next episode. but also, remember alicent said “ring the bells when you have an answer” when she asked for her support and THAT was her answer

It's hard to keep up with all the names and who rides which dragon. As we know when one rider dies another can claim them so many of the dragons we see in the show have had multiple riders in their lifetimes. A list of current riders if you're interested. I haven't included any character that isn't known in the show by ep9.
Rhaenyra - Syrax (yellow) ~same age as her
Daemon - Caraxes (The Blood Wyrm) ~65yrs
Children:
Baela - Moondancer (pale green) hatched to her
Rhaena - has an egg
Jace - Vermax (green) hatched to him
Luke - Arrax (white) hatched to him
Joffrey - Tyraxes hatched to him
Aegon - Stormcloud hatched to him
Viserys - has an egg
Rhaenys - Meleys (The Red Queen) very fast, possibly the fastest. ~70yrs
Laenor - Seasmoke (Grey) ~30yrs
Laena - Vhagar ~180yrs
Viserys I - Balerion (the Black Dread) oldest and biggest until his death before ep1.
Children:
Aegon II - Sunfyre (the Golden) hatched to him
Helaena - Dreamfyre (pale blue) ~100yrs
Their children:
Jahaerys - Shrykos born to him
Jahaera - Morghul born to her
Maelor - has an egg
Aemond - Vhagar
Wait meleys is older than caraxes?
@@what.are.you.doing.stepbroI'm not certain about the ages which is why I put the ~. By 72AC Caraxes was a 'young dragon'. We are at 129AC so he's 57+(young dragon years) which I think is around 10 years.
Meleys was claimed in 75AC and was big enough to be ridden and the fastest dragon at the time. So could have been an adult already. Either way, they're about the same age but I don't have definitive numbers.
Meleys was previously ridden by Alyssa (Daemon and Viserys' mother)
Vhagar was ridden by Baelon (Daemon and Viserys' father)
Caraxes was ridden by Aemon (Rhaenys' father)
It's kind of cute that the dragons switched families, Caraxes went to Daemon and his parents dragons went to the Velaryons.
List of everyone's dragon for future reference: (From biggest to smallest in size, and while size does matter with dragons, battle experience and the rider also matter)
1)Vhagar - Aemond Targaryen's green she-dragon (Biggest, strongest, most experienced, on paper unbeatable by anyone else right now, basically a Hydrogen Bomb Tsar Bomba)
2) Vermithor - Unclaimed on Dragonstone bronze colored (King Jaeharys's old dragon - he was king in ep 1, lots of battle experience)
3) Sheepstealer - Unclaimed wild dragon on dragonstone brown (Wild and never claimed, but big)
4) Silverwing - Unclaimed she-dragon on dragonstone silver colored( Queen Alysanne's old dragon- Jaehaeyr's wife, no battle experience)
5) Dreamfyre - Haelena's blue dragon (no battle experience but mother of most big dragons)
6) Caraxes - Daemon's blood red dragon (deformed serpentine dragon with a lot of battle experience and has the most experienced rider)
7) Meleys - Rhaenys's rusted red she-dragon (fastest dragon in the world, not a lot of battle experience tho)
8) Syrax - Rhaenyra's yellow she-dragon (No battle experience, also a mother type dragon, would get stomped on by most middle sized dragons)
9) Grey Ghost - unclaimed wild dragon on dragonstone grey (quite and shy, avoids people)
10) Sunfyre - Aegon II's golden dragon (the most beautiful dragon in the world but no battle experience, its like a lambo in a world of batmobiles, looks cool but would get stomped in a fight)
11) Tessarion - Daeron's deep blue she-dragon in Oldtown (he wasnt in this season but hes Alicent's youngest son who is living in oldtown as a ward, its blue and is very impressive in fight in the future)
12) Seasmoke - Laenor's misty grey dragon seen in ep 4 (lots of battle experience, MVP fighter dragon can beat much bigger dragons)
13) Vermax - Jacaerys's light green dragon (not much experience, kinda on the smaller side
14) Moondancer - Baela's dragon (Another MVP fighter dragon)
15) Arrax - Lucerys's grey dragon (Small, a bit bigger than a couple of horses, fodder rn)
16) Tyraxes - Joffrey's dragon (Small af barely rideable)
17) Stormcloud - Aegon's [Rhaenyra and Daemons's son] dragon (small, barely rideable)
18) Shrykos - Jaehaerys's [Aegon and Haelena's son] dragon (baby dragon) same
19) Morghul - Jaehaera's [Aegon and Haelena's daughter] dragon (baby dragon)
0) Cannibal - Unclaimed wild dragon on dragonstone, (size unconfirmed but possibly the biggest ever seen)
I would classify dragons into 4 categories based on size: Big, medium, small and baby dragons. They would be as follows:
Big dragons: Vhagar, Vermithor, Sheepstealer, Silverwing, Dreamfyre, Cannibal.
Dead dragons:
Balerion - Aegon I "the conqueror" 's dragon, last riden by King Viserys before its death (biggest ever in westeros, it was bigger than Vhagar with CENTURIES of battle experience, was the last living creature to see Valyria, basically the size of two A380's on top of each other, died of old age)
Meraxes - Queen Rhaenys's she dragon (Aegon I's sister's dragon) (super big, died in battle in dorn)
Quicksilver - King Aenys's dragon (died in battle while being riden of Aenys's son Prince Aegon against Balerion riden by King Maegor who chomped him up in the last great war in westeros 60 years ago)
Not mentioning future dragons not yet born - Morning, Drogon, Viserion, Rhaegal, Last unnamed baby dragon who died at birth.

Alicent clutching pearls in that council meeting like she didn't make her kids marry each other and didn't scream at Aegon that he should be king in ep6. Getting forgetful there queenie.
It’s so exhausting watching her hide that cloak or righteousness
in episode 6 she was convinced viserys was going to change the heir, thats why she kept going on about jace and luke.
@@charbo187 Yes we see briefly see them in the episode
Instead of my usual Dragon Lore, I'll comment on a few different things from throughout the episode:
[+] For non-GoT watchers, when Alicent was threatening that one lord on the Small Council, she mentioned "the Wall".
You'll see him again next episode in a VERY important scene ;)
[+] Part of the reason why the Greens took power so easily was that they kept the death of Viserys secret (you saw them imprisoning the Red Keep's servants to prevent word from spreading) long enough to gather the lords already in King's Landing to swear fealty to Aegon. And if they didn't, they were imprisoned so as to force their houses to swear allegiance/prevent them from joining Rhaenyra in fear that their liege lord be put to the death
[+] RHAENYS WAS SPITTING FACTS TO ALICENT DURING THAT ENTIRE SCENE!!! Like it's basically the same situation, a younger male being chosen over the elder female (although in Rhaenyra's case, she was the NAMED heir)
[+] The conversation Alicent and Aegon had in the carriage thing (not exactly sure if it's considered a carriage).
That way they see him as the rightful ruler rather than Rhaenyra
[+] Yes, Aegon was crowned with Aegon the Conqueror's crown.
She actually took her children on dragon back when they were infants (Viserys when he was only nine days old, Daemon when he was fourteen days old)
Love being able to re watch with other people
I hope y’all finish this series tomorrow or this week so we can start game of thrones next week.
Because of bad writing
The point of Rhaenys was when Alicent said to her “ring the bell when you have an answer” well she did rang it but in true Targaryen style haha
I really love watching you guys reacting. I hope you will react to Games of Throne series
Haelena is some kind of a prophet... She predicts everything just like she mentioned aemond closing an eye to have a dragon
You God damn correct ✅ for the one true King Aegon 👑
@@angryyoungman66 fuck aegon. I already know what he does to Rhaenyra so I will never been team green.
@@Rhanyra
And I will never be black for the bias of the show , rheanyra is not any better
@@Rhanyra fu ck rheanyra
If no one knew, Ser Harrold Westerling's actor, Graham McTavish, played Dwalin in The Hobbit Series and is also in The Witcher as Sigismund Dijkstra.
I CAN NOT WAIT FOR NEXT EPISODE!!!
BEST EPISODE OF THE WHOLE SEASON
Respect to Lord Beesbury!!! He was the real man!✨️✊️
Despite I'm team black 💯 I must admit, Aegon looked badass during the coronation, I give him that lol. The black Targaryen style outfit+ the Blackfyre (Aegon the Conqueror's sword) and Aegon the Conqueror's crown... epic 🔥🔥
Facts
Thank you to cannon for being so supportive of Rhaenyra throughout the show haha
How is crowning the king's son against all customs? Viserys broke custom by naming a female heir, as Vaemond correctly pointed out last episode.
king’s word is law. he named rhaenyra his heir so going against his word is treason. hope that helps
@@unburnt the king's word is law if he has the power to enforce it. How many characters go against Viserys's wishes? If they all committed treason, why do they still have their heads? Viserys id weak. His word means nothing. Plus hard to enforce your will after you're dead.
Did Ned commit treason when he refused to kill Dany? After all the King's word is law. Was Aerys justified when he killed Rickard and Brandon? What about when Aegon IV called his son and heir a bastard?
Hope that helps.
His wishes were that rhaenyra succeeds him. He is the king (like it or not). They did not grant his wish because alicents was too delusional and otto is so over his head. She knew viserys was not in his right mind. The words arent even that clear. Rhaenyra is his declared heir and all the houses swore fealty to her as per westerosi customs. Crowning THE KING'S SON before his declared heir is AGAINST their custom and is considered treason porlly to the highest degree. Viserys broke custom and rhaenyra broke customs as well, but the this is the answer to your question. hope that helps...
@@BLACK_ATW riddle me this Batman: when Aegon died, who was crowned the next king? How about when Aenys died? What about when Maegor died? How about Jahaerys? When was the named heir ever crowned? A custom is an action or way of behaving that is usual and traditional among the people in a particular group or place. Tell me where the custom of crowning a named heir was ever practiced among Targaryens.
@@BLACK_ATW also was Viserys in his right mind when he told Aemma about his probably prophetic dream of placing a male babe named Aegon on the throne?

THIS EPISODE WAS POORLY WRITTEN and here's why:
they changed so much from the book that the story lost its taste, alicent didn't misunderstand viserys words in the book but moved to crown aegon by her own choice driven by the fact that rhaenyra or daemon might assassinate her sons if they came to power, aegon wasn't visiting any children fighting pits or leaving his kids there in the book, alicent wasn't defending rhaenyra at the council in the book but wanted her dead alongside her sons and daemon so they won't come after her family and start war where many would be caught in the midst of the dragons flames, but only then alicent convinced aegon to sent peace terms and he agreed, and larys wasn't a foot fetish guy and niether did alicent show her feet to him in the book but instead he was in debt to her because she made him lord of harrenhal and promised him with more power INSTEAD of pathetic feet pics, also larys and aegon were there at the greens council and had great dialogue, criston killed the old lord bessbury willingly following alicent's order not "i didn't meant to" guy, rhaenys wasn't held prisoner or even at KING'S LANDING to begin with and OMG that last scene where she crushed thousands under her dragon so she could leave the greens alive WAS THE MOST CRINGE WRITTING EVER and no way george rr martin (the fire and blood book author) would write such a farce, this show literally destroyed all team green characters in one episode but at least they kept aemond as the book which is why some of you guys liked him because his writing is true to the book, the greens can be evil yes but at the same time should be interestingly evil and sometimes sympathetic but also ambitious and amusing to watch on screen NOT irritating, THIS SHOW PROVED TO BE BIASED TOWARDS TEAM BLACK, i mess GOT where the writing PEAKED and the characters are GREAT
Viserys has literally single handly fucked up all Westeros. If he did not marry Alicent or make Aegon his heir all would be okay. Only guilty person in this story is Viserys

LMFAO

😂😂😂
Alicent: Ring the bell when you have an answer
Rhaenys & Meleys: DING F***ING DONG!!!!!!!!! 🐉🐉🔥🔥🔥
Lmao 🖤
She didnt ding anything. Plus she hasnt declared for Rhaenyra, she just doesnt want to be involved in this.
Rhaenys didn’t killed them because it wasn’t her fight, so she gave them a scare of what’s yet to come for what they’ve done to Rhaenyra😅
Brig getting existential. "This is the problem with the world today."
Hahaha in my feels man
Killing Aegon would not prevent the war. Daeron exists. Aegon's allies would rally around him.
I've never noticed that Aemond shielded Helaena with his body when Rhaenys crashed Aegon's coronation.
Sons of Alicent has
Aegon “ Sunfire “
Helena “ dreamfire “ huge and old
Aemond “ vhagar” bigger and stronger
Daeron “ tessarion” he is in old town
Team black
- rhanyra “syrax”
- Damon “ caraxes” ( most aggressive )
- jace “ Vermax “
- jofrey “ tyraxes” but very small
- baela “ moondancer”
- Rhaenys “ meleys “ fastest of all
Dragons in dragon stone with no rider “yet” … Seasmoke, vermithor from old king like vhagar, silver wing from old queen, plus 3 wild dragons
“The beast beneath the boards”

@4:40 😂 Oh man I’m crying and dying laughing at the same time
25:41 this is so realllll omg i screamed at this part
please pleassee post the next episode as soon as you can, omg I need to see what you think, but at the same time ill be bummed because it'll be over till the next season... unless... ahahah will you start game of thrones soon or nah? i think you should bahahaha
Common guys , I'm already seeing actors , I don't need you to also act that you don't secretly want Aegon to be King , what kind of man with balls wants rheanyra to be queen ?
Watching this knowing most of the guys havent seen game of thrones..."im so frustrated"....oh my sweet summer children. You have no idea lol really hope they do GOT next
Can't wait for next episode 👋
You guys have got to start Game of Thrones ASAP!!!!
She didn't kill them because it wasn't her war to start. It is the true heirs. Not only that but if she HAD burned them all, it wouldn't have stopped anything since Visery's and Alicent had another son that wasn't present for the ceremony.
If Otto is the hand, Alicent is the feet
😂
lmfao good one
I hate it. Take your upvote and go.
@@withxoutxlife some one had a bad day
Best comment EVER. Not even lying. I wheezed.
I still can’t believe mr.rat strong killed his brother and father for feet 🦶 😭
What's funny to me is Viserys probably wouldn't have said that on his deathbed if Rhaenyra didn't ask for his help. He probably had a lapse of time where he thought he was still talking to his daughter. I suppose if she didn't come to him in his room he wouldn't have showed up at the audience and things might have gotten way worse for her. But now Alicent is convinced that her cause is utterly just. What a mess.
i cant wait to see you watching the next episode omg, i love this show T__T
its kinda crazy that Rhaenyra put Cole in the position he's in now. There's a reason that men from noble houses aspire to be Kingsguard, its the embodiment of chivalry, duty and honour and they KNOW what's expected of them. They made him really interesting in the show, he's such a bad fit for the role and it makes total sense that he's a loose cannon.
Rhaenys just killed like dozens of people for a stunt. This has to have consequences for how the smallfolk perceive her and her faction lol.
I was glad to notice how sad Helaena looked during the coronation, poor girl with her prophetic dreams
Team black 🖤❤

"You will have 2 GoT shows running at the same time?"
Me as a Stargate connoisseur: Oh that works SO well in some shows! 👀👍
Great reaction, you guys are very enjoyable. Next one will be crazy!!
Ahaha XD
What's the wall? You'll find out in GoT. A wonder more wonderful than the egyptian pyramids.
but it's a great question to ask! my respect for that
the Helena’s profechy it’s not for the moment when Rhaenys came out, she sees that her husband/brother Aegon go “high” when he see everybody loves him for be the “King”… i reed the books and i know what is gonna happend but i’m not ready for see it 😭🔥🖤
31:12 There was a question about the fire and the answer is basically "yes", but not to Vhaegar in this scenario. The reason why she doesn't blow fire that much, and even when she wanted, she was slow, it's because she is old, not like extremely old, but she is very near to crossing the line of age when she would go into essentially retirement, since old dragons fly and breathe fire less
Billy just said "this MF IS THE PROBLEM RIGHT HERE" And his girlfriend smiled.
Aemond has been looksmaxxing ever since he got Vhagar
HOTD S2 comes in june!! Just in time🎉
i really, really, really hope yinz watch game of thrones. the first 4 seasons are the most perfect television ever made. nothing will ever live up to those first few seasons of GoT in terms of plot and character development, and nothing will ever match up to the later seasons in terms of spectacle
Rhaenys explains very early why she didn't burn everyone right then and there, but that scene is only in the show.
Bitter or sweet? YALL NEED TO WATCH GAME OF THRONES MAN!!!!
Rhaenys didn’t want to declare war. She just wanted to help her dragon.
In the next episode she says “it’s not her war to begin”
Nooo we need the episode 10 reaction now.
"How did Rhaenys survive this?" Good fucking question!!!!!! This was arguably the worst episode
