  • A couple years ago I made what is now one of the top 10 most popular videos on my channel. My "TXR3 Top Speed Setups Compilation" video. It's still to date the biggest project I've ever done taking nearly 4 months to finish, and the hard work paid off, well over 20K views now. For my channel's standards, this was a huge success. It's also the most liked video on the channel by miles with well over 600 likes and a 99% like to dislike ratio which is also insane. I've felt the need to make this video for awhile now but after recently discovering how much more attention this video's been getting recently, and it was getting a lot to begin with, I decided there's no better time to do this than now. Nearly 1/5 of the total views it has now have come in the last month alone, that's a huge skyrocket in viewership. So I busted my ass off with making this tutorial video so you can have a useful guide to help you in any situation.
    So the biggest factor that plays a role in getting a car to it's true top speed potential is the gear ratios of course. In that video, I revealed the gear settings I used for every car fully tuned with no engine swap, excluding the Toyota Chaser. But I never really explained the process behind how each car's ratios were perfected. That's what this video will show you and it's important because it can help you tune the gears for different tuning scenarios. Following my example, how fast could you get other cars with engine swaps to go? What about for cars tuned to a lesser extent? That's what this video can help you achieve that my compilation video couldn't. The best part about this is that this works not just for TXR3 but across all racing games universally so you can do this on pretty much any racing game. I'll show the process in action here so you can see for yourself how it works & what you need to do to help get your own cars to reach their very limits.

    I've played racing games for 20 years now, and I just learned what the dyno is good for, and how to tune for top speed.
    Thanks :P

    I know it's been several months/years since you posted this guide, but I do have new information about the tuning in this game, and as I researched some variables did come into play like the Front and Rear Drag for each car, it's on of the many reasons why the S30 can't get a high enough top end despite looking pretty aerodynamic for it's age. It's the drag in which slows the car down around 5th or 6th gear and can't really be tuned out. Although in this it shows the top end more or less and not overall acceleration when it comes down to it.
    I done some research on the power of the car your in too, RPMs, when the torque is, and among other factors can be changed dynamically. It seems to mostly be flat or some other curve at play, can't place my finger on it as it's a bit odd. When changing it in real time and adjusting things around like the amount of turbo boost you have, the actual turbo pressure boost which increases the accel. It seems when these variables are changed I can get any car up o the 230mph limit, even without the drag coefficients. The draw back is that "curve" that's placed in game doesn't match what the actual stats the garage state, in that state you may get mixed results when tuning even if your at that curve you only have a limited amount leverage when tuning the transmission in comparison to Gran Turismo, Forza, and other games that have it.
    There's also the Suspension stuff I've dabbled into a fair bit, and each car having different ride heights, springs, stabilizers do have a bit of a function, and there's visible body roll in some cases. It wouldn't be ideal to have 0 on every setting in that regard even at it's lowest height which may cause other issues present in the game even if it's a top end setup. And on how each car handles it differently in terms of settings it's another variable to go by. I made some of those settings be in the negatives for testing seeing how bad the result could be and it was really wacky. Camber and Toe do also have a function too, but the variables for those are very tiny, hard to really tell what it's doing even with debugging.
    I do want to talk about the AI and what they do a bit too, they do have a range perse, but there is another boost param that effects launch and constant acceleration on both front and rear, if it's 0.5 on both ends they have really quick acceleration, but if it's set to 1 front and 0 rear they'll have a mild accel to them, which is why you can't normally keep up with them as it's more constant for that rival, even if you have the speed you may barely catch up. These tunes may help in the middle to end stretch of the Wangan though, but since TXR is very involved with it's systems in place that the smaller details can sorta get missed.
    That is what I discovered at least, I do respect your editing through it all though. I can't imagine just compiling clips and your settings out into 1 video and going from there, even though I do plan on making guides it's just on sorting the information that's in my head at all times and laying it down in small sections. A lot of this may be over some heads, but it's just worth mentioning to most, as I just really started to dig into the game itself this time around more often and seeing things in a different way cause of it.

      Lol I reached 225 pretty easily, but it felt like all the cars feel the same with the top speed is around 215 avarage, in zero, it’s easy to hit 260, and every car feels different

    Hey bro I’ve been following your videos since day one are used to I think I played or raced against you in a GT five in GT6 on route x u even helped tune my corvette then I started learning to tune myself ! It’s been years since I’ve play any racing games due to being in hospital then moving! / make me want to buy another ps3 or Ps4 an waiting for gt7 to come out ! My question is I want to For acceleration mid speed and top end! Still trying to find a perfect combination for that if you can make a video about that that be awesome well I’m a keep watching the videos man keep making them thanks

    Hi, I'm one of those in that spike in views on your top speed compilation video, great to see so muxh SB/TXR stuff on youtube.
    In this you just altered the final drive, what about the individual gearing - is that the same process? I guess you'd have to put it on manual and just test each gear out in that way right? What about the last gear (6th in most cases)?
    Other than that, any advice for setting up a car for the rest of the routes? It's kinda useless having a stupid high speed on the C1 for example. I know the soft suspension and all that is top speed oriented too.

    • @MrSmashboy28
      @MrSmashboy28  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can mess with them if you want. It’s just the highest individual gear & the final drive are the most important as they’re what’s going to affect your speed. I usually don’t mess with the others unless one feels really off. For other areas I’d set the gears for whatever the areas longest straight is I guess. And especially if your somewhere like C1 like you just mentioned, I’d definitely harden up the suspension as handling’s obviously far more important. But I’m not quite as good with tuning cars for handling as I am for top speed.

      @@MrSmashboy28 thanks, I never really got to grips with car tuning in any racing games. Stuff like camber and caster and toe in and... >.

    • @MrSmashboy28
      @MrSmashboy28  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For handling purposes Idk what to do as far as that stuff goes. But I know that neutral toe & camber helps reduce the rate of tire wear which is great for extending win streaks so that’s why I did that.

    I've always been wondering about it in this game, but do you know what the optimial shift point is? Would it be the peak power spot?
    My car reaches peak power at 7200 rpm, but it redlines at almost 9500.
    Should I shift at 7200 then?

    • @MrSmashboy28
      @MrSmashboy28  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A good strategy I’ve heard of is to shift at the peak power rpm then set the gears so that your revs drop down to the peak torque rpm as you shift up.

    Why make all settings in the suspension soft? Wont that make the car harder to control?

    • @MrSmashboy28
      @MrSmashboy28  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s much more forgiving with bumps and one things for sure. Having a car that can handle those bumps at 220+ MPH is a great thing to have. It’s especially noticeable when you go uphill in the tunnel at the end of Wangan In. With harder suspension, you scrub off plenty of speed as the car rattles but with it softer, it goes much more smoothly. Apart from ride height though, none of the suspension components themselves directly affects the speed as far as I’ve noticed so you can really just do whatever you prefer.
