Are the core rules out? Says waiting list everywhere I check. I am signed up to play a session at GENCON. In your opinion if I am familiar with DCC and MCC will I be ok playing?
The core rules are not out yet, however, there have been several X Crawl Classics adventures and some other material (like the Athlete class, and Mojo rules) released, as well as the earlier editions of the game for Pathfinder. I have ran the existing X Crawl modules in DCC for multiple groups and they have been a huge success. Since the core rules are FULLY compatible with DCC, and the adventures have spoiled some of the specific X Crawl rule changes, you can get a very good idea of what to expect. I am eagerly awaiting my preordered copies of the entire line. I would guess that the new classes and spells will be the biggest changes to the game. If you are good with DCC and MCC, I think it would be very reasonable to expect a smooth transition for you. Thanks for watching!

@@yourtwoscents6974 I am relatively close, I used to go for at least a day every year. My last one was 2019. If I go this year, it will be to bring my two boys, as my youngest hasn’t gotten to join us yet. So, possibly, but would just be for a single day if so. I’ve gotten to the point I really enjoy the smaller cons as much as the big ones… River City Con in Louisville this year was a blast. My game of Shadowdark at Gary Con was a lot of fun as well. When I run the game, I compile 80’s commercials (both real and ones from within movies) and when the heroes are in the green room I play them for the players while the players partake in the snacks.
I’m a backer of this Kickstarter and it seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun. I backed this and two others from Kickstarter last year from Goodman Games and that was before they changed the language in the tenth printing and removed the paragraph about the creators of the hobby.
Steve, I’m annoyed with Goodman Games for that action, I mean they had a HUGE booth at Gary Con for goodness sakes, they seem to be pretty selective about how they choose to disassociate themselves… pretty weak sauce move in my opinion… that said, I STILL love the DCC system, and the most fun I have had with it so far is running those X Crawls for my buddies! I think you are getting a good value for your Kickstarter dollars, but I do wish companies would stop pandering and either truly stand on principle, or remove themselves from that battlefield. To me, this move by GG seems to appease a select group of their audience, but if they really believed that Gary was unworthy of acknowledgement, I can’t help but think they would have avoided a huge presence at Gary Con. I can respect a decision I disagree with, when it is consistent. This one just feels like it was done to virtue signal, and not to actually indicate anything more. That said, the mechanics are the SAME ones that made me love the game back when they were honorable enough to thank the people that made their success possible… that’s just my take, and I have no problem with someone that feels otherwise.

When all that creator summit drama occurred on Twitter, I was one of the many people that posted not to cater to these outrage mob people who are not their actual customers. I took a photo of all my Goodman games items with a timestamp and told them I am a real customer and I told them that I had backed this Kickstarter, Dungeon Denizens and Grimtooth’s Traps. They fell into a trap, pun intended, trying to cater to people that are never satisfied rather than they’re paying customers. So I’m a little bit more hesitant with Goodman nowadays. I did not back the purple planet.

If you have ever watched the Running Man, it is basically that mixed with Lord of the Rings. Very unique and extremely fun.

Cool. This game has been on my wish list for a while now. The new edition might just be enough of an excuse to get it now.
