Multiple uses of the word “reimagine”. No use of the word “riots”. No business owner wants to see their merchandise just walk out the door.

That's only one reason. If you paid attention to the video, some of this was already happening before the pandemic, which spurred the looting. Rent and taxes are expensive in that area. And retail is moving away from brick and mortar to online.

You can replace the word rioters with (Blatant Thugs Crime Activity) because our Mayor who is obviously in the early stages of Dementia has sent a clear message to all criminals that regardless of the crime you commit you won’t be pursued by a Police vehicle, and you certainly won’t be pursued on foot.
Watch the videos of these thugs blatantly breaking the windows on these Michigan Ave stores and grabbing high-end merchandise with no consequences.
That’s the real reason why the stores are vacant.
And it doesn’t help when Media outlets like Channel 2 continues to avoid stating the real reason Chicago is quickly turning into Detroit!!

    • @caseyc9658

Then 5 blaks cam in ……all early 20s…….and ordered 25 chicken wings each!!!!! That’s 125 chicken wings. When they were told it would be an hour wait for 125 chicken wings they went crazy. Swearing screaming they tore the place up and then demanded their food for free before running out without paying. It was crazy!!!! It was like being back in high school again. Maybe they should have retail stores way ABOVE the office spaces. They could still have their advertising and virtual displays on the street level office windows. But retailers should be at least 3 floors ABOVE the street level. Shops that are already Below street level, like on Wacker Drive, or in the subways, should only have offices on the ground level. No more ground level retail. There should be an extremely small amount of merchandise in the stores. And No real jewelry. Just cheap imitations for the customers to try on. Products that customers selected inside the stores could be purchased online from the fulfillment centers located off site. Clothes and shoes for example, could be tried on from the limited supply at the stores. Then customers can have their purchases delivered or pick them up at the stores or other safe place. This way, retailers can limit their loss, while customers can still try on and touch the merchandise. It’s not a perfect solution. But it may help to alleviate some of the problem. 🤔💭

I lost all interest in brick and mortar shopping once the flash mobs started up. Gamble with my safety to go to a shopping mall, or just shop on Amazon.... Yep, not a hard choice. If chicago wants some sort of revitalization of downtown areas, they need to do something about the crime, but with the trains dropping people off from high crime areas within walking distance of downtown shopping.... Well I dont expect crime to become a non-issue anytime soon. (Move far away from Chicago. That is what I did and the only thing I miss is the roast beef sandwiches and pizzas).

They just point fingers at everyone but themselves. Shameful what they are doing to this city. And guess who has to make up for retail lost revenue....residents. property taxes will just keep moving up which will keep driving residents out of Chicago. (The following was first posted under a video news by Young Turks, on the topic of Exploitation of Workers):
This summer, this Hispanic US Army veteran, 60 years of age, worked for a lady who overworked me, and then just DIDN'T PAY ME. Discount Liquors, in Algonquin Illinois. The owner is Kavita Patel. Owes me estimated $700. Without bennies, no overtime, and constantly criticizing. And my neighbors say it's my fault for working for an Indian- owned business. I can't afford to take her to court. I am not wanting to believe that; I just want pay for my hard work.
The McDonald's across the highway fired a neighbor of mine who was receiving tips because some of the regulars recognize she is barely making ends meet. A new manager accused her summarily of taking from the till. Think about it - the worker was separating the tip money, not stealing. Now she's in a panic that she's losing her apartment, can't pay the light bill, can't afford to fix her vehicle, can't afford insurance, can't afford treatment for the cancer that was just diagnosis. McDonald's on US 62, East Algonquin Road, same suburb. Other neighbors of mine, in their twenties, are sofa surfing. This is considered a "nice, safe, upscale" suburb.
