I became homeless with a new baby. Husband lost his job, couldn’t find work. I worked at night but could not make enough to live on. I’ve been working since I was 14 years old. I was 26 and I applied and begged for help from the government. Nothing… literally nothing!!! We can’t help you!! They said Divorce your husband and we can get you some help…. WTH!!! People from other countries getting the Moon and stars handed to them. The eviction sign went on my door. However, my Hispanic neighbor bragged constantly to me in broken English, how she slept with married men to have babies for more money. They were charging her a penny a month and her apartment that was decorated to the hilt. That’s when my eyes opened wide!!

However, the wall was just a small part of the immigration policies intended by our former president. I think the wall, although helpful, was more of a symbol of what so many of us Americans wanted. We need to protect our country and that would have been a good first step of many steps that are needed.

I barely get by and I work over 40 hours a week. I even have to pay the government 300 dollars for taxes too which came as a surprise and is a big bill for me. I’m struggling … and I read about my government giving people money that came here illegally when we have legal immigration… it’s sad. Sometimes I think about leaving America. I’m working so hard to have nothing while I see people get taken care of by my government for doing nothing. During Covid my friends were making more money off of unemployment than me working full time. It’s so wrong
