I enjoy playing Irish Jigs and when I picked up the fiddle yesterday, these tunes more or less played themselves. I felt the relaxed feel of the tunes would make a suitable video and decided to share them on this channel.
I hope you enjoy listening to these tunes.
Tune 1: Garrett Barry's yt3.ggpht.com/...
Tune 2: Donnybrook Fair yt3.ggpht.com/...
Tune 3: Behind the Haystacks yt3.ggpht.com/...
This reminds me of how it used to feel when I was young and the fiddlers were chill.
Back from original Ireland when they weren't rushing and somehow enjoying the time they had together.
@@nskimharris .. I'm thinking this is the route I want to take with my fiddling ... hiya :)
@@franksfiddle9031 It sure is nice to listen to. Hi (lol)!
I am absolutely gobsmacked by the beauty of these tunes!
So much more musical when not at breakneck speed.
The peak of fiddling!
Fantastic, Thank you for playing, 🎻
Brilliant. Just the music I need to teach to my newbie whistle player son to play along with me on my fiddle. I just love your comment 'the tunes more or less played themselves!'
this set is on point, enjoying the longer duration 3 tunes ~ 5 minutes duration, one has time to get swept up in the mix 🌺
Thank you so much for the links for the scores to these tunes, too! So helpful!
This is such a great tune. How I wish I could write pieces like this.
These are all traditional tunes that I have learnt by ear over the years.
This is absolutely wonderful... Bravo!!!
Thanks a lot i am french sorry for my english. You play so well and i like the way you do to help and share your music. It is very nice ! Martine from the south of little britanny in France
Very nice delightful tunes. Thank you!
Ahhhhhh Garret Barrys... 👍
Lovely tempo very well played thank you really enjoyed it
I really like this one too. Im just starting Violin/fiddle getting amazing grace down fairly well with a little Irish flair here and there. One of my goals is to eventually ( maybe in a year) learn your " Willy Wagtail" I just really dig that tune ! thanks for your videos !
You are very welcome Jeff
Great toe tapping music !!
… a fine landscape in the background too!
Thank you, mainly some film I took on my phone in the Lake District North West England. Also, my local area of the Peak District
Nice one!
Sure, very enjoyable, thx :))
I really need to practice more so I can play tunes like this!
Well time is always an issue, but nothing like trying to play one or two tunes really well and seeing others follow along.
I just slow them all down and "play " them anyway haha
Great stuff !!
Thanks Ben
Bravo ..great tunes ....is that an octave Mandolin i hear in the background ?? ...nice video editing .. :) :)
Not on this particular one Michael, I decided to use the Banjo (mostly right channel) and Mandolin (mostly left channel) with the fiddle sitting somewhere in the middle in front of the bass guitar. I like to visualise where each musician would be stood on the stage, to give a fairly even balance to the recording.
@@peakfiddler Cool..Thanks matey .:)
The first one? Pipe on the Hob?
Fantastic playing, What tunes are played in this set?
Hi Michael, unfortunately I have forgotten the names of the first two, the last one is a 48 bar jig called 'Behind the Haystacks'
@@peakfiddler I think the second tune is Donnybrook Fair.
@@DragoShane Thank you Shane, I just checked and you are totally bang on, what a great thing the web can be. Many thanks indeed.
@@peakfiddler Anytime, and thank you for the lovely playing!
I believe the first tune is 'Garrett Barry's'.
