    I also apply the 5 minute rule but I strongly recommend not setting an alarm. Because the whole deal is that when you start doing something, you won’t notice as the time flies. However, when you set an alarm, you will be reminded that you can quit what you are doing.

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respect that - good point , distractions can cause you to lose focus however, the precedent is strong.
      When you know there is an option to quit and you progress on anyways it can be quite liberating and rewarding - what do you think is a better way to implement the rule without an alarm ?
      May help me improve on the message!

    1. Flow state is EXACTLY why you should pick a major you actually enjoy and not what ur parents picked😂😂 NB: I’ve been to medical school and law school and dropped out of both. My parents hate me, but I’m studying economics and i like it.
    2. I’m an active recall expert so BIG warning!! I learnt active recall when I was young and started using it for major exams. That made me lazy since I’d discovered how to learn what I specifically need during exam period and, as the years went by, I FORGOT how to study AS A WHOLE! Ended up not being able to read a book that’s not manga for more than a minute without my brain yelling at me unless i was reading what I specifically needed for a test. Now I’m trying to unlearn hence how i found this😂
    Lastly, THANKS FOR ALL THE TIPS!!❤️

      Happy yo help - and yes it is SO IMPORTANT to do what YOU love, at the end of the day you'll be the one doing the job - not the people you are trying to impress!

      what grades were you getting in year 12 though for predicted grades and how did u write ur personal statement?

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So in my end of year exams for year 12 I got AABB (highest grade was an A as it was AS LEVEL)
      My predictions were: A*A*A and A* prediction of EPQ (and this was what I achieved as my final grades too)

    QOTD: What was the hardest exam you sat and what did you learn from it?

    • @Sammy.a1287
      @Sammy.a1287 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hardest exam I ever sat: USMLE STEP1
      Focusing for 8 hours requires exquisite planning ahead of time of exactly what to eat and when to ensure uniformly good focus throughout (due to fluctuations in blood glucose levels). Practice runs where you simulate all variables are great for identifying gaps in your preparations.

    Is there still enough time to get A and B s in A levels with 3 weeks remaining ?

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      10000% yes - spend the next few weeks SOLELY doing every single past paper / practice question out there and track your progress - for the modules / specification points you're doing worse in , you can dedicate revision time to - with time you will rapidly improve as long as you do this consistently! @@FarisDent hi thanks, what did you use for active recall - flashcards ?

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So during a-levels I literally just did past papers and past papers, but flashcards (online) are excellent - they do take some time to make though and not sure you can do them all in 3 weeks - for a-level, you don't need to re-invent the wheel / remake notes/ q's - there's SO MANY questions to utilise active recall with that you don't really need to make your own / make flashcards:
      basically - just do every single past paper and track progress - at uni , use anki/notion etc - I'll discuss in a future video!
