    I’m a 4th yr in Newcasle and our teaching is not PBL at all. Stage 1 & Stage 2 part 1 are all academic. Some labs. Dissection rooms on real cadavers etc. but 90% lecture based. Then stage 2 part 2 is Key Clinical Skills like interproximal cavity prep, GIC, Composite, Amalgam etc. Stage 3 is the first clinical year where we start treating patients and many clinical seminars in Paeds and Pros. Also in Stage 3 we get an Endo phantom head course and labs for endo, complete dentjres and partials. In stage 4 we get much more clinic time and Indirect restoration clinical and lab course and a lab loss or restorative management of tooth loss. In stage 5 we have morning and afternoon clinics + OMFS OR sessions + Ortho + evening clinics.
    And in all stages we have rotations in Restorative, Pros, Perio, Endo, Paeds, Outreach, Radiology, Oral Surgery, Emergency, Consultant Clinics where we see really complex treatments, Sedation, OMFS, Oral Medicine and Human Diseases course for 3rd and 4th where we also have hospital rotations in surgery and internal medicine. Constant training on e.lfh platform.
    It’s a lot but it’s designed really well. It flows nicely which I love too. The clinicians are all really good

    For Cardiff uni, would you still have to meet the entry requirements to still be given a place the next year? For example when you're applying, with predicted AAB, but it's your firm choice, will that offer still be used?

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No their site says 6's for IB - not GCSE! Birmingham is actually well known for having quite HIGH GCSE requirements!
      Additionally, most dental schools take AAA in the uk (same with med) , only a few ask for A*AA
      I would say check their entry requirements again here: www.birmingham.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/med/dental-surgery.aspx#EntryRequirementsTab

      @FarisDent  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not too sure !

    • @nataliestenson8547
      @nataliestenson8547 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I applied for hygiene and therapy at Plymouth and they did the same to us (went from ABB to AAA). I had heard it was because they got so many applicants so they chose to raise them to weed out (for want of a better phrase) those with the lower grades. I don't know if this is a fact or just speculation though. I think most people were annoyed as it meant they essentially wasted a choice as they suddenly didn't meet the entry requirements.
      I was offered a place thankfully but after the comment above saying they retracted some people's offers I'm panicking again! 😫

    • @nataliestenson8547
