    Perio is way more than just treating the gingiva. Implants, osseous surgery, GBR, GTR, connective tissue grafts, ridge preservation, extractions, sinus lifts, all on 4/6 surgeries...there are so many surgical procedures and I believe it's the specialty of the future as there continues to be more and more implants placed. Guess who is going to manage the peri implantitis and implant complications? Yep, periodontists

    A quick question, what is the process of being a privatised dentist?
    Are there any benefits to being privatised ?

    I’ve noticed in ur videos that you mentioned pbl and traditional learning are you least favourite teaching methods, what would you say is your favourite and why?

    • @FarisDent

      I like an integrated learning approach - it allows me to learn the content and instantly apply it practically. For me this allows me to cement difficult procedures and concepts a lot easier and allows for more seamless application of knowledge.
      Hope that helps 👍

      The training pathway is a lot more challenging and time consuming than I would like though.
      With regards to the differences that’s a great q - honestly I need to look into the specifics of this - maybe a future video 👀

    I've just been told I have an infected tooth, and will either need extraction or root canal treatment. Have you got any advice on how to find the best dentist to do it. I know nothing about teeth at all, and was just wondering if there was some things to look for to know I have a great dentist. I'm reading all these horrors stories and really don't want it to go wrong.

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All qualified dentists are of sufficient standard to extract a tooth or do root canal treatment. Usually if the dentist you have believes the treatment is too complex for them , they will refer you to an endodontic specialist themselves. There should be some trust with yourself and your clinician so if you are worried, don't be afraid to ask questions about your treatment to reassure yourself that the dentist is the right person for the job - hope that helps!

    Can a dentist become an oral surgeon and spécialise in implants?

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't officially 'specialise' in implants - but you can get an MSC in implantology if you want a specific qualification. Any dentist can theoretically do implants if they get training (do NOT need to be oral surgeons).

    Hi Faris, I'm 27, I want to get my teeth as sorted out as possible. Whats the best way to go about this?
    I had braces as a teen but it didn't work out. It's a long story but it was essentially me being in a bad place mentally and not having parents fighting my corner like i needed. Not because my teeth are well jank.
    My teeth aren't that bad but they're a bit crammed up and a few slightly wonky. Also nor a white as I'd like.
    I'd rather pay for one permanent treat than scrape any extra out of the nhs which has a very basic level of care.
    The idea of a uk dentistry channel is interesting. I'm having trouble finding answers for my questions especially for uk dentistry. So maybe a niche for you there. Lots of people in the uk would like better teeth and the only things they have to turn to are adds for things like smile direct which seem like they might be a bit of a scheme And those charcoal pastes which I've heard are no good in the long run.

    • @FarisDent
      @FarisDent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya Simon, as much as I would love to give you some direct clinical advice it is a bit hard without assessing you in real life!
      In a case like this I would first recommend you go to your local dentist and describe the issues you have and the things you want changed with your teeth- with regards to them being wonky/ jammed up - it means you will most Likely need orthodontic treatment , which can be pricey, so make sure you research a good orthodontist / general dentists nearby that offers that service

    You forgot Dental Legal and Ethics, and also the branch of Dentistry that provides specialist reports for Solicitors or Forensics.
    You can study for this by taking an LLM in Medical LeGal Ethics or by studying Dental Ethics at the University of Bedfordshire.
    Then do some courses in Legal Report Writing,
    This is for anyone who may be interested
    Thanks

    Hi. Can you please tell me if a dental speciality training for 3 years in Europe, Romania will be recognized in the UK? I don't know if I should be doing a dental specialist training in my country and after that coming to the UK or not doing one at all and come as a general dentist. How much does it matter in the UK to be a dental specialist from another country? Thank you!
