When I was in my twenties I took Dr. Bernard's external studies courses on THE ONENESS OF GOD and THE NEW BIRTH via Kent Christian College. Dr. Bernard's teachings were indelibly written on my heart. At that time I prayed that the Lord would use David Bernard's persuasive teachings on television so that multitudes would be converted to the true Apostolic Faith. I truly believe that God is going to use these kinds of videos on TH-cam to persuade thousands and perhaps millions over time. May the Lord lead Dr. Bernard to keep recording and posting his teachings on this channel.

When you bring the unexplainable experience of the Holy Ghost into contact with someone who has divine revelation, then you can begin to stand before men and explain to them intelligently this thing called baptism in fire with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Such a beautiful thing to see this in the last days. Thank you Jesus for the revelation!!

I was born again at 15 years old and spoke in tongues at 23 years old. I was definitely born again prior to receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit. So there you have it. The same Spirit that led me to salvation in the Baptist Church was the exact same Spirit that gave me the gift of speaking in tongues in a Spirit filled/Pentecostal church. Same spirit.

I received the Holy Ghost on Oct 3rd, 1999 at age 19, and I also spoke in tongues just like the Apostles did on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:1-4, and I was instantly delivered and set free from multiple drug addictions, cigarettes, alcohol and many other sinful things I was bound by, so I can testify to the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues being real and genuine, but I've had ppl that reject "tongues" question my experience and say that it must of been Satan who was messing with me, and caused me to speak gibberish, and it was a Baptist preacher who said this to me, but Satan would not deliver and set someone free from substance abuse addictions, nor does the devil have the ability to do so. If anything, Satan would want me to remain addicted so I would die in my sins. "By their fruits ye shall know them" the Bible says. Acts 2:38🕊

    • @derekbaker777
      @derekbaker777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@teachmetruth3539: Preaching the gospel has nothing to do with speaking in tongues. When I say "gospel" I'm referring to the entire Bible as a whole. Speaking in tongues is the result of being infilled with the Holy Ghost, and it's ppls worship language when they are in the Spirit. When Preachers get up on the pulpit to preach they don't do so while speaking in tongues, or else nobody would be able to understand a word they were saying. And giving a prophetic message to the Church in tongues isn't the same as the initial tongues ones speaks in when they first receive the Holy Ghost, and that's an additional gift all by itself and is one of the nine gifts of the Spirit spoken of in (1 Corinthians 12:4-10). This is where knowing how to "Rightfully Divide" the Word of God comes into play. Peter didn't get up on the day of Pentecost after the Apostles received the Holy Ghost in Acts 2:1-4, and preach John 3:16. No, Peter preached Acts 2:38, and (Acts 2:39) assures us that the promise of the Holy Ghost, which is our "Comforter" is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off; even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

@@derekbaker777 when they spoke in tongues in chapter 2 of acts they spoke different actual languages to the visiting scattered Jews from all over the world. Only 3 thousand believed and They took home the truth of God to the world. That was God pouring out his spirit (truth) on all flesh. They weren’t speaking gibberish like they do in churches today.

    • @derekbaker777
      @derekbaker777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@teachmetruth3539: No, you have it wrong. The ppl standing around the Apostles that day thought the Apostles were drunk on wine because they were speaking in tongues or "gibberish" as you refer to it, and the ppl standing around said in (Acts 2:12) "And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?" "Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine." (Acts 2:13). They didn't understand a word the Apostles were saying because they didn't even know what it meant, and thought the Apostles were drunk. And the reason why Christ chose "tongues" as the outward sign of the infilling of the Holy Ghost is because: "The tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison" (James 3:8), and Christ takes full command and control over the most unruly member of our body when ppl receive the Holy Ghost. And (Isaiah 28:11) prophesied about it: "For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people." "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams." (Acts 2:17). And about 3,000 souls were added to the Church that day, and (Acts 2:42) says: "They continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer." And Paul the Apostle addresses the Church at Corinth and talks about "spiritual gifts" in (1 Corinthians 12:4-10) and one of the gifts is the "Interpretation of tongues" when one "prophesies" in tongues, which is for the edification of the Church, so what you label "gibberish" is actually Biblical, and you're bordering on the edge of "Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost," which is an unforgivable sin, so I'd be very careful and tread lightly if I were you about making fun of the Holy Ghost. I received the Spirit of Christ just like the Apostles did on the day of Pentecost, and millions upon millions of other Christians have also received the Holy Ghost by evidence of speaking in other tongues, and ppl from around the entire world from one end to the other and in between can testify to receiving the Holy Ghost, and it has saved and changed countless lives for the better, and if you weren't so stubborn with disbelief you could also receive the Holy Ghost because it's a promise to everyone who obeys Acts 2:38, so instead of doubting me why don't you put Christ to the test and see if the Word of God holds up to be true, and I guarantee that you'll see for yourself that I'm not lying and trying to deceive or trick you. I was instantly delivered and set free from multiple IV drug addictions, cigarettes, alcohol, lying, swearing, stealing and many other sinful things I was bound by, and Satan doesn't have the power, authority or ability to deliver and set ppl free from sin and addictions, nor would the devil even try to do such a thing because he seeks to bring as many ppl as possible to hell with him, so Satan isn't in the business of delivering ppl from drug addictions and other sinful things. I have nothing to lose or gain by lying and trying to mislead you, and all I'm doing is testifying to you about Christ infilling me with the Holy Ghost like he did to the Apostles and millions upon millions of other ppl as well. And I don't believe we have much time left before the rapture, so if I were you I'd be sprinting down to the alter, repent and ask God to infill you with the Holy Ghost, which is the Spirit of Christ. Acts 2:38🕊

@@derekbaker777 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilæans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judæa, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
      Acts 2:5‭-‬11 KJV
You conveniently quoted before and after this part of Acts chapter 2. This is blatant - undisputed, and documented proof that this event was to reach those of other nationalities and languages(tongues), clearly listed, in the above passage. I go to a pentecostal church, and though I have disagreements with our organization over this subject, what I will give them is this; that even they won't let people get confused over the difference in tongues between Acts chapter 2("other" tongues), and the "unknown" tongues in 1 Corinthians - which STILL requires interpretation, or as Paul said, keep it to yourself.

From my experience in the UPC, tongues were most of the time, not a human language used for building up the church and most of the time were not interpreted. I saw ministers coaching people to speak in tongues. On a biblical basis, the gift of prophecy is a greater gift and the fruits of the Spirit are a clear sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Your character is changed. Not everyone speaks in tongues and when it happened in Acts 2, there was a gathering of Jews for Pentecost who spoke various languages. The miracle was the Holy Spirit enabled the 120 to speak in those languages not having learned them in order to share the good news.

    • @robertnieten7259

The word " tongues" in the N.T.s original language is singular not plural. It is one spiritual language. In Acts ch.2 upon Recieving the Holy Spirit the apostles all began speaking in the same one spiritual language. The miracle for those in the crowd was one of hearing what the apostles were saying in their own languages not of the apostles speaking them. This is evidenced by the fact that three times those in the crowd asked " How Hear we them in our own languages " ?

Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Acts 2:6-8
The context shows they spoke those languages and those who gathered heard those languages. I don't think you can make that argument from the exegesis of the text. Now it is true the word for tongues is in the singular but it simply means "the tongue" or "the language" meaning the language of each respective nation that came for Pentecost. I know you have to pigeon hole your exegesis as a oneness believer because oneness teaches that the languages were heavenly. but if we just let the bible speak, it will humble our traditions.

Edit: When I say speaking in tongues, below, I’m referring to “praying in tongues,” which is very different! :)
I grew up Baptist-they do *not* believe or teach in speaking in tongues, 😂 but God was in my heart from as far back as I can remember. I was always sensitive to the spirit and pleasing God.
God spoke to me, supernaturally saved me from a bad car wreck, and I had a deep relation with Him *before* I ever started speaking in tongues.
I learned from a Sid Roth video that all believers can pray in tongues-he basically said you just have to open your mouth and with faith, start speaking. I did, and all kinds of words and syllables just flowed out of me, and I even sang in tongues-beauty harmonies and sounds that must have been the spirit.
I am new to speaking in tongues. I was skeptical at first of whether or not it was really the Holy Spirit speaking through me. Don’t forget, I grew up Baptist! 😂 I asked God to show me, and He has. I’ve been in 3 bad situations since I started speaking in tongues since mid April, and almost *immediately* when I started praying in tongues, the situation turned around. It’s been incredible.
I don’t want to shut the door on anything that can draw me closer to God, and I am SO thankful to have learned about this. I was simply “closed off” to it before. I had often heard it was of the devil.
Do I think I wasn’t saved before I started speaking in tongues? No.... the Bible says if you confess Jesus with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9.
I’m curious though... was my ability to speak in tongues always there had I just known and opened my mouth? I think so. I had to get through many barriers though having grown up Baptist! God has been working on me the past several years and I’ve been listening more and more to charismatic type teachings. ❤️

God bless you! I'm thankful for where He has lead you!
So your question about when tongues will come and the scripture text in Romans 10:9, I pray I can be a help🙂
So in Romans 10:9-13, or anywhere it states believing on Jesus Christ you will notice that it says you "shall" be saved. Never you "are" saved. See what I mean? (Also know that the book of Romans was Paul's letters to the Church of Rome who was already saved by what you read in Acts 2:1-4, 37-39)
The Word says that when someone comes to God they must believe that He is, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
So believing is first, and when you want to receive His Spirit you worship Him and seek His Spirit and when He officially fills you, boom the tongues will follow as a sign you are now filled with His Spirit.
      John 3:7-8 KJV
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. [8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
In the text above notice how Jesus mentioned the wind, and those born of the Spirit. So you can't hear wind until it hits an object, and when His Spirit hits (fills/enter) the individual worshipping/seeking He flows out of them after filling them fully and you hear the sound (unknown tongue) thereof.
Also Paul writing to the Church in Corinth (I Corinthians 14) that tongues are for a sign.
You see we can feel Him, and know He's here before we officially receive Him into our heart. I hope I could help❤

The only teaching regarding tongues scripture offers is I corinthians. Here we can understand what the gifts are and what they’re to be used for. It would be foolish to believe that the gifts of the spirit were only for early believers like many believe. We must seek the gifts. But I’m not sure about the teaching that all will speak in tongues. Not all heal the sick but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t saved. We all need to continue searching the scriptures to find the truth. Let’s not get too comfortable in our traditions.

Hi! I just noticed a slight thing I i think in one of your last paragraphs. I think the slight error is just that you always had the ability to speak in tongues. We don’t have the ability to do that. God does it. And I think that’s the issue in today’s church. I can’t chose when that happens really. Some people make it sound like we can just do it. We can’t Make it happen. But we can pray through so that we do speak in tongues frequently. We can do it! But it’s from God, not through our own ability.
You probably know that. It just made me think. I’m sorry for being technical. LOVE YOUR TESTIMONY

You are looking at this passage from the readers perspective and not the perspective of the Jews present. What they heard would be the same as someone telling you the mighty deeds of God in English. Your sons and daughters shall PROPHESY . . . and they shall PROPHESY." And this is exactly what the Jews would have understood. We believe that you aren’t saved before speaking in tongues. evaluate it like this,: if tongues is the initial sign of God dwelling inside of you, and if we can’t get to heaven without his spirit, then how can we get there if we have never spoken in tongues. The Bible says that we are born again by the water and spirit. That is baptism in Jesus name and being filled with his spirit. Both of those are necessary to being born again. The Bible also says that unless we are born again we can’t enter into the kingdom of heaven.
When people say they are saved...what do they think they are saved from? When you are SAVED, what that means is that your saved from Hell, meaning your going to heaven. But if you haven’t been born of the water and the spirit then according to the Bible you CANT go to heaven. Therefore... in order to be SAVED you’ve got to have the spirit inside of you.
I really hoped that answered your question. I tried not to say yes or no. I tried to be only biblical. Please look into the things I pointed out, and pray for understanding! God bless you!! And I’m gonna rating that God fills you with his spirit soon! Keep on pressing!!

Good point ! When Jesus told the apostles," Recieve ye the Holy Spirit" He wasn't saying it was so right then. The word " recieve", in the original Koine Greek that the N.T. was written in means to " take hold of". This basically is telling them that when the Holy Spirit is given to man, in Acts ch.2, to take hold of the Holy Spirit by diligently seeking for and asking for the Spirit and by praising God until it happens. Basically this is what tarrying is and that's what the 120 in Acts ch.2 were doing when The Holy Spirit was poured out .The outward first evidence that they had recieved was speaking in "tongues" which according to the Greek is defined as " another language" and " a language" both singular.
Before the Lord told them this He breathed on them. The natural reaction when someone blows air in your face is to breath in.
A physical baby breathes in and crys. A spiritual baby breathes in the Holy Spirit and speaks in the spiritual language ,which in the English, is to speak in " tongues".

    • @adamr6301
      @adamr6301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Robert Nieten And yet if you read the text closely, it says:
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
So - you're telling me because Thomas wasn't present - he did not "tale hold of" the promise and did not receive the Holy Spirit like the rest in Acts 2? This would directly contradict what Acts 2 says - they were all filled.
Also - the Bible doesn't say they were seeking the Spirit - they were obeying Jesus' words - but to say this is to grab ahold of the "let God and let God" theology, which diminishes God into whatever we let him / don't let him do. He is Sovereign.

Regarding Peter remembering what Jesus said, it almost seems that no one had received since Pentecost. If converts from the previous day spoke with tongues, why did Peter have to remember what happened at Pentecost? There is no definitive account between chapters 2 and 10. I say this not as an opponent. I just don't understand the remembering thing if this was an everyday occurence. Why did the Cornelius experience take Peter's mind all the way back to Pentecost?

What I understand is that a tongue is a language in simple terms (2:6-13) verse says, ... spoke in his own language, ...verse 8 how is it that we hear, each in our own language? For instance, the common language spoken in USA is English but are all inhabitants Americans? A tongue is a language and is not an unknown language to the speaker but a known language to the one speaking though it cannot be heard by another person. English, Spanish, French etc, are tongues and when one wants to speak for the sake of communication, needs to interpret it, when alone, you communicate to God in your own known language. God is not a god of confusion but God of order.

WOW! When David Bernard mentions someone who's pastor tried to 'teach' him how to speak in tongues by repeating "Ba Ba Bah..... etc." That was ME! I'll only say it happened in California in the 1980s. I was a new believer in this small (UPCI at the time) church. This pastor had other cultish issues (I won't mention here) that I realized weren't Biblical. This is how I knew it wasn't right. This small church prayed and fasted, along with myself for months for me to receive the infilling of God's spirit but nothing happened. Perhaps this is why that pastor finally chose to try and 'teach' me how to do it. As he said "to get me started". However, I rejected his council and kind of gave up on my pursuit of the infilling of the Holy Ghost for awhile.
Sometime later, perhaps several weeks, I came home from work on a Saturday. It was about 1:30pm and I began to walk and pray. Nothing special, I just went down the list "bless this person, heal that person, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, etc." Then all of a sudden it happened! God's spirit came in waves. It felt like wind blowing through me. The tongues started, then intensified, I was wet with tears of joy and even started running around my apartment for awhile. It lasted for about a half hour or forty five minutes then finally tapered off and stopped. But it wasn't so much what I felt, although I felt great! It was what I didn't feel that struck me. The complete absence of fear that was replaced with only love. The tongues have happened many times since then, but I can never 'bring it on'. It happens when it happens. As David Bernard said, usually more pronounced when I'm in intercessory prayer.
As for the cultish pastor back then, I agonized what to do for awhile , but finally decided to handle things Biblically and submitted a statement (with a tape recording) to the elders at a UPC gathering in another church we visited. That pastor was shortly removed from the UPCI as a result. The moral of this story... Trust the Bible and trust in the One God. The Father's substance is spirit (Holy Spirit). Yet he also expressed himself in human form as Yeshua (Jesus) to save us from sin.

So many people have walls up when it comes to speaking in tongues. I think the pastor knew it was in you if you’d trusted and let the Holy Spirit take over. I think he was just trying to get you comfortable speaking non sensical words-not that he thought the actual words he told you to repeat were what you should ultimately speak. I think he thought if you just started speaking, then the Holy Spirit would then take over. I can see how his intentions could be misconstrued though. :(

As you do a word search on tongues you will come across “known”/“unknown” tongues . Unknown may sound like Jibberish. But it is Gods spirit speaking for you and is not like human communication. Tongues is a spirit and flesh unified communion with God that allows Us to do spiritual warfare that’s specifically directed by God. Our spirit Is edified as well. Speaking in known tongues are usually for the benefit of someone who is nearby that may be listening. God ALWAYS has multiple purposes at the same time and tongues is one example. For example: you could be at the Alter in church praying and then God fills you with His promise . As you are speaking in tongues you here jibberish but then after 5 minutes it sounds like French to you.
      1. God just verified to you that this is real to help you verify it’s authenticity.
      2. Someone from France could be walking by in that service and heat you speak with a dialect that they haven’t heard since they were a young person from their homeland. Now this verifys to the person that God is real; especially with whatever message you are speaking from God to them.
      3. After this experience God starts leading you to go reach people in Quebec Canada where some people speak some French.
*. The known language in tongues is not Gods purpose for every time you speak in tongues. There are more languages in the world than you may know. Listen to the pigmys for example. There are some languages that sound like clicks and grunts . You really have to judge your personal experience by the fruit it produces afterwards. Ask yourself is there a peace or a burden for someone or a conviction felt. There is lot to be said on that question.

God is definitely ONE but He manifests Himself in 3 DIFFERENT WAYS at the VERY SAME TIME. For lack of better words our finite mind uses the word person to describe each of those 3 manifestations because each of those 3 manifestations are different in the manner of their ministry/function. Therefore we use the term 3 Persons but the word person is not to be understood as it is understood humanly speaking. That is the best we can do to define the INFINITE God with our FINITE Minds !!!

That's a good question! So when the Holy Spirit enters/fills the individual seeking, they will begin to speak in the unknown tongue as a sign they recieved the Spirit. Tongues is not the Holy Spirit but a sign you have received it. Make sense?
      John 3:7-8 KJV
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. [8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
You see His Spirit is like wind, His Breath of Life, Him in action.
You never hear wind until it hits an object, so His Spirit hits an individual (enters them and fills them fully) and boom you hear the sound (tongue/unknown language) thereof like Jesus said.
Also remember that Paul told the Church in Corinth (I Corinthians 14) that tongues are for a sign.

It's nonsense, and there is no proof of that, let's not allow people to add to the gospel, nowhere does it say that went preaching in all those nations in there tongue in the spirit, to minister the gospel to them, it sounds like the same group of people that say tongues have been done away with, or that it is not speaking in tongues if others can't hear you speak there language, it is a result of the operation of the spirit unto prophecy, but it took place during them being baptized, this experience from what Paul describes in 1st cor. 14 the apostles in acts 2 did speak in tongues, but into prophecy, that wasn't them speaking in an unknown tongue, as Paul talked about, so there are 2 different manifestations of tongues. Bishop taught on this specifically

  • @dansidora

There is no such thing as two instancies of the Holly Spirit coming in our lives. It is nonsense to believe that the Holly Spirit came at our Salvation to born us again and that He comes the second time to fill us. We have no Bible support for that. Apostol Paul states in 1 Corintians 12 that "we all were baptized by the same Spirit" to become one body. If baptism of the Holly Spirit comes to some people after 10 years, how can that person be saved, a child of God but not part of the body of Christ? You receive the Holly spirit at Salvation once for ever. He comes in our spirits and from there He leads us, teaches us, sanctifies us, etc. You cannot state that somebody not speaking in tongs is not saved or that he doesn't have the Holly spirit. It is important to understand that the Holly spirit does two major works in our lives. He produces the fruit of the Spirit building in our character the character ofJesus and He manifests through us by the gifts of the Spirit producing the character of Jesus in the lives of others. 1 Corithians 12:7 states that to every one was given the manifestation of the Spirit and immediately Paul lists the gifts. What people don't understand (and for this reason there is much confusion) is that THIS MANIFESTATION from my inside out for building others (the church) can start at the moment of Salvation like in Acts 2 or Acts 8 or it can start later as in Acts 19 or Acts 9. Holly Spirit is there manifesting inside of the believer by the fruit and He waits for the moment when the believer believes that there is more of the Holly Spirit inside of him waiting to manifest outside in order to build others. All the verbs in Greek showing the receiving of the Holly Spirit after Salvation have the sense of HAVING SOMETHING THAT NOW STARTS TO MANIFEST AND NOT RECEVING SOMETHING FOR THE FIRST TIME. (I challange you to use a Greek dictionary, there are plenty on Internet, and make this study). In conclusion, you receive ALL Holly Spirit at salvation and ALL His power, but in some people His Manifestation by the Gifts of the Spirit would came later. Not understanding this causes so much debate among Christians and also caused a great division in the Body of Christ.

Bernard acknowledges the truth of Acts 2 that they did not speak in an unknown language. It was only that the language they were speaking, when they were speaking in tongues, was unknown to them naturally. Unfortunately, for the UPCI folks, the word tongues translates to an unknown language that can only be spoken by those indwelt with the Holy Ghost and this is precisely the flaw that they simply cannot overcome. In Acts 2, it is obvious that the onlookers understood exactly what they were saying when they spoke in tongues because they specifically ask how they can understand them in their own language? Acts 2:7-8 "And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" What is particularly disturbing about the tongues doctrine is that they do not necessarily believe that the Holy Ghost is with us when we repent and are baptized. Now they won't come out and say they believe this but they do think it because again speaking in tongues is the evidence or sign it is true. But I want you to note that it is THEY who demand evidence or a sign as proof. Once you realize WHO demands the evidence or sign, not me or you but some pastor or member of a UPC church, then you understand that the main issue involved here is the crutch of denominationalism. To Dr. Bernard's credit, he appears to be more focused on faith in Jesus rather than speaking tongues so while we can certainly disagree on tongues, I would like to thank him for his tireless efforts of spreading the truth on Oneness. And I would encourage others to branch out and listen to differing points of view because they offer value too.

I am a Pentecostal Christian who believes the word of God over any and every persons own opinions or denominations.
The Apostle Paul who wrote a majority of the New Testament was entrusted by God to write Scripture as the Holy Spirit gave it to him. Paul puts it very simple and precise how anyone is to be saved or born-again as a Christian.
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Isn’t that simple to understand, and it flows with all of the New Testament concerning how we are to be saved. Problems only arise when you pick out a scripture from the context of it’s setting and then from the context of the overall plan of salvation described in the New Testament.
Notice Paul said “will be saved”. Well how will we be saved, Paul? Is it by water baptism or works? Paul’s answer is an empathetic NO…”for with the HEART YOU BELIEVE unto righteousness. Well Paul, perhaps we are saved and born-again as we speak in spiritual Tongues or talk different than before? Paul’s answer is an emphatic NO…”and with the MOUTH CONFESSION is made unto salvation. That is a confession of faith in our own language we understand that flows out of our heart of hearts.
So this is proof right here in God’s word how to be born-again. And we know if we are saved or born-again the Holy Spirit is a part of that process. It is the Holy Spirit who baptizes us into the body of Jesus Christ, and that is spiritual. But it is Jesus who after that baptizes us with the Holy Spirit when we ask. And if that happens we will speak in spiritual Tongues.
The Disciples had the Holy Spirit come upon them and with them before Jesus was crucified or the Day of Pentecost, and they did miracles, but they did not speak in Tongues at the time, yet it was the Holy Spirit working through them.
Then after Jesus’ resurrection prior to His final ascension to the Father Jesus breathed on the disciples and said “receive you the Holy Spirit”. And they received inside of their spirits and were born-again.
For it was at this point they had fulfilled what Paul said in Romans 10:9-10. They had confessed Jesus and unlike any other times prior when the Holy Spirit had only come upon them and not in them, they also had seen Jesus raised from the dead and believed.
We must remember Jesus had told them that the Holy Spirit had not yet been given to the New Church, that He had been with them but shall be in them.
Well Jesus breathed “resurrected life” over them and they received the Holy Spirit prior to the outpouring on Pentecost in them. At Pentecost, which was after the Holy Spirit baptized them into Jesus, they were able to receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit by Jesus who is the baptizer. And then they spoke in Tongues.
Jesus had also told them prior that the world could not receive the Holy Spirit, speaking of the Baptism or the rivers of living water that flow out of the belly, that is our spirits.
So for us to ask Jesus for the Holy Spirit, as in Luke 11:13, we first must be His child spiritually, for Him to be our Father. The Holy Spirit is not given to the world Jesus said.
And Jesus said we must first be born into this world, that is of the flesh, and then born again of the Spirit, which is spirit, to inherit eternal life.
Jesus said it is at this point when we receive Him that a “well of living water” shall spring up into everlasting life. That is our salvation and we are born-again. This well is our personal salvation.
Once we are born-again receiving the work of the Holy Spirit in us for eternal life, then, we are to be Baptized with the Holy Spirit to have power to be a witness of Jesus. That is our ministry of Jesus to others.
This is the “rivers of living water” flowing OUT OF our spirit beings.
    Scripture interprets scripture in context.
    Keep it simple!

Now go back and count all the "If's" that Jesus uses in His commands. You are talking about initial step. There is more. Read Romans 11 , read the epistles of Peter. Why did you stop at the first step?

@@hargisP2 what in the world are you talking about? Have you read your Bible as the Holy Spirit reveals? You sound just like the Pharisees that Jesus confronted who added to the commandments of God.
You prove my point with your scripture references that we (are saved by grace through faith and not by our own works or surely we would boast of “our denominations’ weird beliefs” for saving us). Seriously you mentioned Romans 11? Have your read Romans 11?
Not sure what you mean about “initial step”. There is only one way to be saved, one savior, one Jesus who died, was buried and raised for my salvation and life in the Spirit. Jesus said it was finished on the cross for a reason. It was not the “first step”, it was the “final step” concerning the atonement for mankind’s sins.
Paul inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote Romans 10:9-10 about how to be saved, not Jesus. But they are the words of Jesus for He is the living Word and the Holy Spirit only says what He hears Jesus say. Not sure about your “ifs”.
We are saved “if” we do what Jesus tells us and He tells us clearly in Romans 10:9-10 what we must do to be saved. He also told Nicodemus we must be born first from our mothers womb, for what is flesh is flesh, but God gives ever person born of the flesh an eternal spirit. So Jesus, in His own words, said what born of the Spirit is spirit.
Paul says “if” we confess with our physical mouths the “LORD” Jesus, and believe in our hearts (spirit being)…the eternal part, we shall or will be saved, that is born again as He told Nicodemus we must do to go to heaven.
The “if” is ABOUT OUR OBEDIENCE. Hebrews tells us the Israelites did not enter God’s rest for disobedience, lack of faith or unbelief. That is your “if” for you. If you will believe.
Believe what: that Jesus gave His life, His perfect life as God in the flesh for our sins, He became the Lamb of God slain from the foundations of the world in real time so real humans could believe in Him.
Jesus’ blood covers my sin not earthly water or earthly blood of man or goats. The obedience that follows our salvation shows what has happened in our hearts, that is did we truly receive Christ. It is not our “works’ that follow that save us!
And besides I PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED SALVATION FOR MYYSLE about 40 years ago just as Romans 10:9-10 proclaims. I changed immediately in many areas that were related to my spirit being even though at that early stage I had no idea I was a spirit being. After about 1-1/2 years later I was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in Tongues, the same Holy Spirit that was present at my salvation in Jesus. And He also gave me other gifts of the Spirit that started operating in my life at the time.
I have prayed and seen a dead person brought to life, I have seen fatal diseases healed in my own and others bodies as I prayed for them in Jesus name, in His authority. I speak in Tongues my heavenly language daily. I am single and I stay pure in this ungodly crazy world by His power and word in me.
I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT WHEN JESUS SAVED ME: And at the point I was different but I was not baptized in water or the Holy Spirit, yet I was born-again and I was tested over and over dramatically…I was changed by Jesus.
Later I was baptized in water “in the name of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for the my confession of the remission of my sins I had already experienced in JESUS!
And as I already said much later on I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, but I read my Bible daily sometimes well over 8 hours a day before I spoke in Tongues, I had been changed by the power of Jesus at my salvation when I ask Jesus to forgive me and I accepted Him as my savior acknowledging He died for me are was raised again.
Before my salvation anyone who put a Bible in my face I took it no would throw it as far as I could or tell the to shut up! After begin born-again I repented of those dumb actions severely, Jesus came in to my heart.
So DO NOT TELL ME how we are saved I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED IT JUST AS THE BIBLE TRULY DECLARES IT, NOT HOW YOUR DENOMINATION DECLARES IT!

Can anyone miraculously “speak in tongues” today, in the biblical sense? Absolutely not! Since no one can speak in tongues in the biblical sense, then obviously what people who claim they can are doing something other than biblical tongue speaking. Therefore, should we encourage anyone who thinks he can speak in tongues to go ahead and do so anyway? The answer is NO!

We as Apostolic Jesus Name Pentecost, don't seek tongues, We seek God for his sign of evidence of the infilling of the Holy Ghost, and when the We are filled with Gods Spirit, Tongues will come as the evidence that has made US a Temple for the Holy Ghost to dwell in.
1 Corinthians 6:19> "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
1 Corinthians 6:20> "For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
