@@MrLykkenYes, sounds like a bass to me played well up the neck with reverb + delay effects, maybe double tracked. Nice sound! Will be interesting if they're able to play it close to this way live. Some of their songs remind me a little of Goldfrapp, and that's a good thing in my opinion!
@@treblebass6721 , I always tend to like their live versions better than the recorded one's. More energy, more immediate, and less overproduced. This song is an exception, but a lot of times Ellie's voice gets buried in the mix.

Wolf Alice saved my marriage.
My wife and I had been going through a very difficult time in our relationship, a long slow decline as the various trials of life can change people and erode relationships. Try though we did to mend the rifts, our connection had become cold. We were an argument or two away from cutting it off. Long ago we had actually dated in high school when we were 16 and broke up, before eventually getting back together at 20. It was a good break up, though I had a lingering sadness about it, there were no hard feelings, and we went our separate ways. I thought about her often.
When this song came out, I listened to it on repeat, and eventually sent it to my wife on a whim (which I almost didn't do as we were barely talking at that point) and mentioned this really encapsulated the feelings I had when we were so young, and it was special that we had a chance to come back together after that, regardless of what happened from here.
We listened together, cried together, and THAT was the catalyst, the moment, that changed our energy towards each other enough to restrengthen our connection and find a way through a difficult period.
Wolf Alice saved my marriage.

Wow! My daughter just went through a painful breakup with a guy she had dated for 9 years from age 16-25. They met in high school! They both went to uni in England for undergrad, then lived together for 2 years through grad school in London until 2021. He felt like our son in law. I honestly thought they would always be together. They moved to Brooklyn in 2021.
She decided to break up with him in March of this year. She was beside herself, but she was really just craving independence. It took tremendous courage. He was devastated, naturally.
This song sums up exactly how she felt. They still keep in touch and someday she feels they will be able to be friends. It may take awhile, but I know she has deep respect and yes, love for him. I still keep in touch with him just a bit, to let him know I support and care for him. I will share this with him in time.

I really needed this song. For the past year I've been trying to get over the girl I thought was "the love of my life". I've been finding it really hard to let go of the past but this song makes me feel like it's ok to do that and have hope that I can move on with my life and someone new.

I dunno mate, as a breakup song it seems a little odd to share your headphones to listen to it, like who are you even sharing them with? Your ex? your friend? I wouldn't be sharing headphones with my ex, she's my ex, we're not that close anymore which is exactly why this song is relateable to me.
And If my friend wanted to sit listening to breakup songs with me I'd give him a good shake and tell him to snap out of it, life goes on, lets not be sad c***s about the past and and miss out on enjoying this moment you have with your friends, before it slips away into an ever growing puddle of wasted opportunity.
That's just my take though, everyones differen't.

This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. The lyrics and melody are so haunting. You can feel Ellie’s emotions pour out in her honest words. The video captures the melancholy mood with the color scheme and direction. I’ve never been through a breakup, but Ellie paints a vivid picture of what it feels like when you end things amicably. Such a bittersweet emotion.
I get the sense they didn't end things end amicably - not initially. It's more about the calm, nostalgia and well different kind of love that sets in once some time has passed and the grief over the lost love of the other person isn't as loud anymore I think. About the fact that once you've loved someone like that you'll always carry a piece of them with you no matter how much time and distance lays between the relationship and the present and how you can both honor that with acting amicably towards one another imo.
