It makes a lot of sense, with your present lifestyle, to save your better items for going out. I’m retired, have no children or pets, and don’t really even cook or clean much, so I enjoy wearing my best at home, too. I started doing this after a few months of lockdown, when wearing sweatpants and old t-shirts every day started depressing me. I even got my groceries delivered, so I was essentially home-bound. I decided to enjoy wearing my nice silk items anyway, putting on some jewelry, etc., and it cheered me up immensely and was so comfortable that I’m still doing it. There’s nothing more comfortable than my silk joggers with a silk jersey top. (Naturally, if I’m going to make a pot of Marinara sauce or putter in the garden, I don’t wear my white silks). Why let all those beautiful clothes languish in the closet, wear them if lifestyle permits!
How wonderful! I'm so glad I saw your comment, I did the same in lockdown, I wore my lovely clothes and put on jewellery and perfume each day, you're so right, it made such a difference to my mood and general feeling. I also have no children, but I have fluffy friends, I'm 42. Can I ask, do you regret not having children? My reasons are long winded, but I'm very curious about other women who are in this position or have chosen this life choice. I would be interested in your thoughts. Thank you in advance and keep being fabulous and enjoy your lovely clothes, you are worth it! Much love to you 😘💋❤
I totally agree with your way of dressing. I dress for myself not for others so I want to look and feel my best every day. I get dressed, put on my jewellery and makeup do my hair no matter what I have planned for the day. I do have what I call dirty work cloths for when I am doing my cleaning or gardening but when the tasks are finish I get changed.
Since switching to slow fashion, I value my tailor so much! Anytime I want to upgrade something on my wadrobe, or have it fit better, I go to him. I wish more women had access to affordable tailors and customized clothes. It makes such a difference!
awe thanks, I've been a seamstress for nearly 60 years! it's one of my most enjoyable talents, I can't believe everyone doesn't teach themselves this wonderful vehicle... so glad I did!!!
Your "sandwich" rule I learned here in the US as called as "bookending" your outfit!! We also do hair color ,shoes and handbag. This is also called the Rule of Three's.!!! Meaning three items on the outside of your body are in the same color!!! I also keep my clothing separate even though I am retired as well as my husband. I believe the older we are the more elegantly we should dress!! Unfortunately I'm unable to wear heels anymore but I find gorgeous dressy flats!! My style is Elegantly Casual!! I believe in taking excellent care of all your clothing, handbags, jewelry and shoes!!!
Greetings from Canada! I tuned into your channel a couple yrs ago. It's my favorite ever. I have saved money and time by following your suggestions. I used to wear myself out shopping and trying to figure out what to wear. That is now a thing of the past. I can't thank you enough. You're a special person. God bless you.
I was wearing, lately, my nicest clothes even when going for clay classes…I try to use my clothes at the best and I am finally getting around my personnel style and colors : earthy
As a short-legged person, I need to be careful about the "style sandwich" idea. Sometimes it's best to have shoes match one's jeans/trousers for a more long-legged look. When I do wear contrasting shoes (I love red ballet flats with dark-wash jeans), I need to be sure to wear a cropped or tucked-in or monochrome top to give my legs as much visual length as possible. I love your practical videos and your sunny smile.
@@UseLess_dk True! I was about to comment the same thing ('cause I'm petite) when I read this comment! It does wonders when you are a short person, and still creates cohesiveness in the whole outfit.
You're right Faith. 🙏 And when it's not possible (like with my new old pink high top sneakers), I wear a trouser/jeans with the same color depth. I also want to experiment with repeating the same pink in my make-up, jewelry or a headband to bring the attention upwards for an overall longer appearance. 🥰
You read my mind, Faith! We petites can fake a long-legged look when our trousers match our shoe color. And our legs can look even longer with a bit pointed toe! So perhaps no sandwiches for us?! haha!
Good morning, just finished watching your recent video. You are a lot younger than me and I could easily say the age difference would allow me to be your mother but having said all that I find your style is very adaptable to any age women. It works for my lifestyle. I have taken the “ no buy” challenge and I am finding I can deal with the urge to not buy new as I am looking at my existing wardrobe with fresh eyes. Thank you for giving me new inspiration and a new found love for what I already own.
In the last couple of years, I've been trying to accept the idea that my clothes (like my own body) will age, and that's okay. Not everything needs to look "crisp" and new all the time-just as my wrinkles and greys show personality, the wear of my garments (and perhaps the mends), do also. I'm struggling to find the sweet spot between keeping things for "nice" and accepting that things will get worn, and maybe it's an opportunity to fix something in a creative way. It's easy to find content on visible mending, but it's hard to find someone who actually styles visibly mended clothes.
I wear a sweater over my coat yesterday, it was chilly here in Germany and I did not do it on purpose when leaving the house but during my walk outside, I felt really stylish, so thanks for that fashion advice, so simple!
I just wanted to make a general comment . I started watching you years ago when you first started your channel . You were the first TH-camr/influencer I found and watched . I’ve learned so much from you . Practical advice like this vlog and you’ve changed my view on sustainability and shopping habits . I have begun to realize if we all do what we can we will make a difference . You are making a difference . It feels like you are a long time friend and I’m so glad to see how far you’ve come as an influencer . You’re a positive influencer my friend ❤️
I love adding accessories to my outfits, very sparsely though. Lots of my clothes are simple, solid-color basics, so my favorite accessory is a silk scarf that ties the colors together. I also love belts, and prefer to wear one if my bottoms have belt loops or for loose dresses, it just looks more finished. I don’t have a very defined waist, so I often wear one that matches the dress or bottoms, so I don’t emphasize that. I have one in all my basic colors, so it’s simple. I usually take off the belt (and bra!) when I get home, just as I change into my comfy house shoes (Steggmann clogs or Birky Arizonas, depending on the season).
I get tons of inspiration from your videos. Since I started following you I have learned to create many new outfit combinations using what I already have in my closet!!! Hugs from Northern California 🤗
Thanks for sharing these thoughts. What is your budget for hair cut/color/style? Does this require constant maintenance for roots? Just wondering how your no dorms transfers to your hair. Thanks for sharing. All the best, Julie 😂
Another brilliant video and great tips- thank you so much. Do you still wear your recycled biker jacket? Your style have clearly evolved to be more classic and I wonder if you still fit that in? Thank you for some great advice.
Hi beautiful lady! I have a question about the dye for the jeans. Isn't toxic? So many dyes that manufacturers use are, and I'm trying to avoid harsh chemicals. By the way, your videos are VERY inspiring! ♥️♥️♥️
There is a problem with rule of sandwich. If the shoes and top are matching, and the pants is in a different color, if the color or the shoes is similar to the color of the ground or floor, I think from far I will only see the pants and the shoes will disappear and it seems like the legs are super short!!
Hi Darling just want you to know I’m doing a no spend year this year again. My second year in a row . I had so much it’s been great. Getting rid of the junk and just keeping quality . Thank you for the tips on more combinations I can put together . You look incredible and the baby is just beautiful 😍🙋🏻♀️💐💐💐
Maybe you can try to decide on one or two just for the day, not in general. Or try to incorporate different style personalities by different accessories rather than clothes? By that you could tweak more basic pieces into any direction you want for the day 🙂
Im from Az,hot in summer, warm now in March 83 degrees. I'm in Nice France now for 1 month. Had only light weight clothes. Found jeans, few long sleeved tops and bright red wool blazer. Everyone in Nice is wearing black! How depressing. I stand out with my red jacket!don't care!72 yr old, retired flight attendant seeing the world for free!
I know that your content is mostly entertaining, but some words of support from their favourite blogger would be of great use and real consolation for your subscribers in Ukraine (I am sure you have some there). No one must stay neutral in such a situation. Its a great pity.

I agree! Why let the nicest clothes sit in the closet unworn.
As they say, "why wait to burn the good candles?"

That's so true, Faith! I've noticed that as well. Black jeans and black pointy shoes are the best at elongating legs for me :)

True. Nothing can be worn often, and look new for long. I've made peace with it especially when it comes to t-shirts and shoes.
Look for clever ideas to repair items; they gain a whole new look!

Love your presentation! Also, sandwich analogy is perfect, I can now easily get my wardrobe to make sense for me.
This color is beautiful on you! Your skin is glowing! Thank you for a great video
Great tips as usual! Thinking of you over in Europe at this unsettling time. I hope the unrest stays far away from Denmark.
Thank you for this video, I am glad TH-cam recommended it. I subscribed and I look forward to watching more.

Silk scarves are one of my favorite accesories as well! I use them to add color and texture to some of my boring outfits :)
Yes, simple scarves, a hat, or a vest upgrades your outfits. All the best, Julie 🌷

This is so amazing!!! ❤️❤️😍 thank you!
I ❤️❤️❤️ the sandwich concept! I have been using the “recipe” for decades but didn’t realize it until now. Thank you!
So awesome to see green!!! We still have 4 feet of snow in our yard!!! 🇨🇦
I never heard of sandwich styling! I'm using this now and didn't even realize it.
Great video, I agree, wardrobe maintenance is so important!
Love when you have scenes of Denmark. Those buildings are so cozy.
And of course your daughter and … Oscar!
I am blown away for your great

Not sure why but the TH-cam algorithm has not recommended your channel in a while (I'm subscribed). Congratulations on becoming a new Mommy.

Yayyy, a new video from you. So excited to watch.
It's good to back
I spend lots of money on every day clothes. There is an occasion where best clothes are needed I have savings and will prepare for that occasion.
