As many people have said, she wouldn’t have been teaching until 1956-58 but that is going by book canon, if these films are going by movie canon, MaGonagall is older than she is in the books but no age of years are specifically stated so technically, it could possibly work with movie canon.

Apparently there's a scene in the extended cut where 1. she's called "Minerva" and 2. is wearing a chain that may or may not be a time turner. But anyway we'll just have to wait to see...

While I know that this point has already been touched upon before, Dumbledore is seen teaching a Defence against the Dark Arts class, when it's been established that he was a Transfiguration teacher before becoming Hogwarts Headmaster. They could have shown him teaching any subject at all, as it wouldn't have advanced the plot in any way, so why not Transfiguration?
I can see it happening later in the series that the ministry doesn't trust him and makes him change. Much in the way Snape wasn't allowed to teach DADA.
Travers told him he would no longer be able to teach DADA, so isn’t it possible he now becomes Transfiguration teacher? There is a SuperCarlinBrothers video that goes over this subject in much greater detail, and they presented a very plausible theory.

Same way McGonagal wasn't even born during this time but now she's apparently a teacher, same way there's another Dumbledore. Same reason I wouldn't be surprised if all of a sudden the Whomping Willow was planted in 1927 instead of Lupin's time. JKR has been doing this for a while. The starting point was when Dumbledore was made gay when everyone thought he was banging McGonagal.

Dumbledore is arguably-indomitable and respected by many. The ministry afraid that Dumbledore would create an army if he had been teaching defense against the dark arts. Like Dumbledore's army arc. The strongest wizard with an army is something would easily overthrow the ministry.
it's not same Mcgonagall either. In book 5 the order of the phoenix Umbridge asked her how long she had been teaching, and she said 29 years. this was 50-60 years before

@@sysystram5203 that's the "unintentional" part. The phoenix was originally given by Grindlewald to Creedence to make him help with his plan against Dumbledore. But now it has became loyal to Creedence and will help to reveal to him who his true allys are. Somewhere down the line Creedence will left it under Dumbledore's care, who will rename him Fawkes.
"A pheonix will come to any dumbledore in their time of need" so it could be fawkes or maybe its not. Credence definately needs more help now than albus. So maybe in time.

As proof, when the master die, the phoenix goes away and never comes back, he doesn't choose another master. After Albus death's, Fawkes left, he didn't go to Aberforth (dumbledore brother's). In addition, J.K Rowling confirmed several years ago that Fawkes had only one master : Albus. So, logically, the phoenix we see at the end of TCOG is not Fawkes, it's another, the phoenix of Credence.

Minerva McGonagall’s mother could’ve changed her name back to her maiden one if she had separated or divorced her husband; the McGonagall in Fantastic Beasts 2 could be an aunt of Minerva - Minerva’s father was a muggle, but if he had a sister it was very possible for that sister ro be a witch (same as it happens with Lily and Petunia Evans); or, if Minerva’s father had a brother, she could have been for whatever reason adopted by her uncle taking his name. And these are only the first three coming up in my mind; there are several others that make it possible for _a_ McGonagall to show up in Fantastic Beasts without altering the timeline.
There is a very detailed article about Minerva McGonagall's past on Pottermore: Her mother only revealed being a witch very late to her husband and he was completely surprised and confused, which he wouldn't have been if he had wizards or witches in his family. Also her mother's name was Isobel Ross and she was never a Hogwarts teacher. In fact, she had basically locked her wand away since her marriage. But there is a theory by SuperCarlinBrothers which says Minerva could have been sent back in time by an older Dumbledore to assist with the fight against Grindelwald. After all, she was the one to introduce Hermione to the time-turners later. You should look it up, if you are interested, it actually makes sense :)

Minerva McGonagall grew up in Caithness (I'm not sure if it's close to Hogwarts or not) and her mother Isobel kept it a secret from her husband that she was a witch until after the birth of Minerva. Pottermore also states that Isobel was jealous of Minerva because she was able to go to Hogwarts and join the wizarding world while Isobel couldn't. So I think this is really a continuity error and rather unforgivable.... (Unless we see Minerva fighting and playing a large role in the next films, that'd be so cool)
McGonagall is older than everyone thinks. She is described in the later novels as old and frail. If she WAS born in the 20s as so many people believe, she'd be just around middle-aged in the 90s, as witches and wizards live much longer than muggles. The commonly cited reference that she's been teaching at Hogwarts for, I believe, 39 years doesn't say anything. You see... those are very likely non-consecutive years. She is likely only 20-30 years younger than Dumbledore.
Yes, I agree J.K. Rowling spreaded the harry potter universe too much so she maybe has forgotten some of the things that she astablished her self. The Crimes of Grindelwald had some ealse issues like: In the Harry Potter books it is said that all the wizards dress in a different way than muggles are and yet we see everybody dressed in a tipical way for that periode. And in the first fantastic beasts movie Newt said that it is strange that wizards in America can't marrie no-majes while wizards from the UK can wouldn't that mean that Qeenie and Jacob could just go live to the UK and get married.
And, for example, you can`t "accio" a living being, so there would be no "accio Niffler" . And why Credence ignores the fact, that Grinelwald is exact the same person, who tricked him before.. The news "Grindelwald was auror Percival Graves of the MACUSA" is well known in the whole wizarding world. Queenie was there, when "Graves" tried to kill her sister and tortured Newt, at least Tina would have told her every detail. But everything is forgotten in a blink of an eye… I really hope to get some really good answers to a lot of questions. :-) Something like "Oooh, of course, you can see it the whole time, why I didn`t think about it before…?" That would be great.

You are right with the Accio spell, but I think Credence is just damaged and desperate enough to not care who it is who helps him, and Queenie is known to be very easily manipulated and naive. She trusts her legilimency enough to tell her whenever a person has bad intentions, but I suppose Grindelwald would be adept at occlumency and furthermore a skilled talker and good at reading people himself. So her advantage over him is gone because her legilimency fails her, and she is completely open to his manipulation. That's how I explained it for myself at least.
The clothes thing might be simply because the costumes department overruled Rowling on this. Remember, even in the Harry Potter movies wizards wear muggle clothes more often than in the books. I suppose it might be because it was hard to move fast for the actors in wizards' robes, or because they were getting so sweaty in them that they needed tons of makeup. We can do perfect CGI nowadays but there are still some differences between the book world and the film world that are hard to overcome.
When I saw Mcgonagall in the theatres, I smiled but I remembered her bio on Pottermore and said to myself, "It can't be right..".. But anyways.. Still love the movie!!! I hope they clarify that in future films...

You've forgotten the tree was planted to stop people from entering the tunnel and finding Lupin when he was a werewolf. If you read the books to the point you knew when the tree was planted you would also know why. It not inconsistency, it's over excited and sloppy fans.
I agree and if you do research, you can watch the deleted scenes from the movie (like when Leta is at a ball and looking a women dancing) and it makes it even better. Also, we understand more things about the movie.
He doesn't name her Minerva, just professor McGonagall. She could very well have been her mother. It may not have been legal during the movies to marry a muggle, but it very well could've been ten years later.
McGonaglle use the same time turner as hermione.. that's who she got it from in the first place... dumbledor needed her so she use the time turner to help him out that's how she was able to be there before she was born.
According to the time line professor minerva was born in 1935, and severus was in 1960. But you have noticed you might have seens minerva was holding the sorting hats for severus and lily with the same wrinkly beautiful old face, she doesn't looks a day older than prehistoric(according to time line she must be 37 when severus was joining sorting to slytherin, but she clearly looks much older than that) . So mis minerva was actually a great witch who might be older than the time line is mentioned or there must a dark secret behind it. Like she can reborn with the same age she has.

Couldn't follow the story? Wow. The HP universe is so very appealing to me because of its consistency, everything works together and makes sense as a whole. Sudden inconsistencies, like the subject Dumbledore teaches or the much-too-early appearance of McGonagall damage this whole picture ... and believe it or not, there are people working with this universe, as in Fanfictions or similar stuff, and for them this is a deal indeed. You are right about the Willow though, it isn't the same tree. You are also right about WWII - the parallels are more than obvious, not only did they use the pictures in the movie, but Grindelwald is heavily inspired by Hitler.

And in the movie I thought that I heard Grindlewald say that Phoenix’s are passed down when family members and or the Phoenix itself dies Quoted from Grindelwald at the end of the movie: “There is a legend in your family that a Phoenix will find a new member that is in thy need” Don’t think that is fawkes, do you?

I had a relationship with the characters long before the first film 🎞 .....from reading the books. It speaks well to the writers, Director and the actors that we quickly were engrossed in the Harry Potter universe. With Fantastic Beasts.....it took much longer to come up to speed with the new plot line....

I believe that the story of Minerva McGonaggal from the Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies book says Minerva's mother did not practice magic, because she was hiding it from her husband. Minerva's father did not know they were witches until Minerva was showing signs of magic she could not control as a child.
Her mother Isobel never taught at Hogwarts, she basically never practiced magic again after marrying a muggle. There is a good theory by SuperCarlinBrothers though, saying Minerva could have been sent back in time by an older Dumbledore to assist against Grindelwald. In Order of the Pheonix (1995), Umbridge asks McGonagall how long is she teaching in Hogwards. She answers twenty-something years, so that means she started teaching in late 60s or in 70s

The thing most people are annoyed with for the McGonagall part is that they removed her birth year on Pottermore after the fact. Essentially trying to cover up their rewrite of lore.

It's still possible that there's more to this and Rowling can't add anything to McGonagall's biography on the website because it would be a spoiler for the next FB films. When hermione showed harry that james was also a quidditch player, you can read McGonogall in one near jame's. THis is just more proof that we really didn't need more HArry Potter related movies. While I know that this point has already been touched upon before, Dumbledore is seen teaching a Defence against the Dark Arts class, when it's been established that he was a Transfiguration teacher before becoming Hogwarts Headmaster. They could have shown him teaching any subject at all, as it wouldn't have advanced the plot in any way, so why not Transfiguration?
I can see it happening later in the series that the ministry doesn't trust him and makes him change. Much in the way Snape wasn't allowed to teach DADA.
Travers told him he would no longer be able to teach DADA, so isn’t it possible he now becomes Transfiguration teacher? There is a SuperCarlinBrothers video that goes over this subject in much greater detail, and they presented a very plausible theory.

Same way McGonagal wasn't even born during this time but now she's apparently a teacher, same way there's another Dumbledore. Same reason I wouldn't be surprised if all of a sudden the Whomping Willow was planted in 1927 instead of Lupin's time. JKR has been doing this for a while. But now it has became loyal to Creedence and will help to reveal to him who his true allys are. Somewhere down the line Creedence will left it under Dumbledore's care, who will rename him Fawkes.
"A pheonix will come to any dumbledore in their time of need" so it could be fawkes or maybe its not. Credence definately needs more help now than albus. So maybe in time.

Phoenixes are extremely loyal to their owners. As proof, when the master die, the phoenix goes away and never comes back, he doesn't choose another master. After Albus death's, Fawkes left, he didn't go to Aberforth (dumbledore brother's). In addition, J.K Rowling confirmed several years ago that Fawkes had only one master : Albus.
So, logically, the phoenix we see at the end of TCOG is not Fawkes, it's another, the phoenix of Credence.

Minerva McGonagall’s mother could’ve changed her name back to her maiden one if she had separated or divorced her husband; the McGonagall in Fantastic Beasts 2 could be an aunt of Minerva - Minerva’s father was a muggle, but if he had a sister it was very possible for that sister ro be a witch (same as it happens with Lily and Petunia Evans); or, if Minerva’s father had a brother, she could have been for whatever reason adopted by her uncle taking his name.
And these are only the first three coming up in my mind; there are several others that make it possible for _a_ McGonagall to show up in Fantastic Beasts without altering the timeline.
There is a very detailed article about Minerva McGonagall's past on Pottermore: Her mother only revealed being a witch very late to her husband and he was completely surprised and confused, which he wouldn't have been if he had wizards or witches in his family. Also her mother's name was Isobel Ross and she was never a Hogwarts teacher. In fact, she had basically locked her wand away since her marriage.
But there is a theory by SuperCarlinBrothers which says Minerva could have been sent back in time by an older Dumbledore to assist with the fight against Grindelwald. After all, she was the one to introduce Hermione to the time-turners later. You should look it up, if you are interested, it actually makes sense :)

That is most likely Minerva's mother. Just because her father was a muggle doesn't mean her mother couldn't have taught at Hogwarts after getting married. Her father was the rector of a church but we never find out where and there's nothing saying it couldn't have been close to Hogwarts. McGonagall being a Scottish name it's quite possible the family is from close to Hogwarts.

Minerva McGonagall grew up in Caithness (I'm not sure if it's close to Hogwarts or not) and her mother Isobel kept it a secret from her husband that she was a witch until after the birth of Minerva. Pottermore also states that Isobel was jealous of Minerva because she was able to go to Hogwarts and join the wizarding world while Isobel couldn't. So I think this is really a continuity error and rather unforgivable.... (Unless we see Minerva fighting and playing a large role in the next films, that'd be so cool)
McGonagall is older than everyone thinks. She is described in the later novels as old and frail. If she WAS born in the 20s as so many people believe, she'd be just around middle-aged in the 90s, as witches and wizards live much longer than muggles.
The commonly cited reference that she's been teaching at Hogwarts for, I believe, 39 years doesn't say anything. You see... those are very likely non-consecutive years. She is likely only 20-30 years younger than Dumbledore.

Yes, I agree J.K. Rowling spreaded the harry potter universe too much so she maybe has forgotten some of the things that she astablished her self. The Crimes of Grindelwald had some ealse issues like:
In the Harry Potter books it is said that all the wizards dress in a different way than muggles are and yet we see everybody dressed in a tipical way for that periode.
And in the first fantastic beasts movie Newt said that it is strange that wizards in America can't marrie no-majes while wizards from the UK can wouldn't that mean that Qeenie and Jacob could just go live to the UK and get married.
That is exactly what Queenie tries to do - she puts Jacob under a love spell and takes him to London to marry him.
And, for example, you can`t "accio" a living being, so there would be no "accio Niffler" . And why Credence ignores the fact, that Grinelwald is exact the same person, who tricked him before.. The news "Grindelwald was auror Percival Graves of the MACUSA" is well known in the whole wizarding world. Queenie was there, when "Graves" tried to kill her sister and tortured Newt, at least Tina would have told her every detail. But everything is forgotten in a blink of an eye… I really hope to get some really good answers to a lot of questions. :-) Something like "Oooh, of course, you can see it the whole time, why I didn`t think about it before…?" That would be great.

You are right with the Accio spell, but I think Credence is just damaged and desperate enough to not care who it is who helps him, and Queenie is known to be very easily manipulated and naive. She trusts her legilimency enough to tell her whenever a person has bad intentions, but I suppose Grindelwald would be adept at occlumency and furthermore a skilled talker and good at reading people himself. So her advantage over him is gone because her legilimency fails her, and she is completely open to his manipulation. That's how I explained it for myself at least.
The clothes thing might be simply because the costumes department overruled Rowling on this. Remember, even in the Harry Potter movies wizards wear muggle clothes more often than in the books. I suppose it might be because it was hard to move fast for the actors in wizards' robes, or because they were getting so sweaty in them that they needed tons of makeup. We can do perfect CGI nowadays but there are still some differences between the book world and the film world that are hard to overcome.

You've forgotten the tree was planted to stop people from entering the tunnel and finding Lupin when he was a werewolf. If you read the books to the point you knew when the tree was planted you would also know why. It not inconsistency, it's over excited and sloppy fans.

But you have noticed you might have seens minerva was holding the sorting hats for severus and lily with the same wrinkly beautiful old face, she doesn't looks a day older than prehistoric(according to time line she must be 37 when severus was joining sorting to slytherin, but she clearly looks much older than that) . Couldn't follow the story? Wow. The HP universe is so very appealing to me because of its consistency, everything works together and makes sense as a whole. Sudden inconsistencies, like the subject Dumbledore teaches or the much-too-early appearance of McGonagall damage this whole picture ... and believe it or not, there are people working with this universe, as in Fanfictions or similar stuff, and for them this is a deal indeed.
You are right about the Willow though, it isn't the same tree. You are also right about WWII - the parallels are more than obvious, not only did they use the pictures in the movie, but Grindelwald is heavily inspired by Hitler.

I had a relationship with the characters long before the first film 🎞 .....from reading the books. It speaks well to the writers, Director and the actors that we quickly were engrossed in the Harry Potter universe.
With Fantastic Beasts.....it took much longer to come up to speed with the new plot line....

I believe that the story of Minerva McGonaggal from the Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies book says Minerva's mother did not practice magic, because she was hiding it from her husband. Minerva's father did not know they were witches until Minerva was showing signs of magic she could not control as a child.
Her mother Isobel never taught at Hogwarts, she basically never practiced magic again after marrying a muggle. There is a good theory by SuperCarlinBrothers though, saying Minerva could have been sent back in time by an older Dumbledore to assist against Grindelwald. It's still more likely that Rowling just got confused with her numbers, sadly
