lol, I can't imagine anyone listening to Jeff Martin, especially on this track and not instinctively thinking the doors hell when he was younger he even looked like Jim Morrison. The secondary thoughts vary, hints of Eric Clapton, or Jimmy Page with a bit of Pearl Jam or Stone Temple pilots...no it ain't just you
*sir, or ma’am* This was the jam. On much music. Back in the day!, the gritty grimey grunge era. I always felt. These guys never got the notoriety they deserved. Jerry Cantrell and Mark Lanagan spoke highly of these dudes 🤘🏽
Born in '75, I grew up on my parents music which was mostly pop and rock from the 60's and 70's. At about 13 I started to gradually seek out my own music. Discovering The Tea Party came a few years later, they reminded me so much of my parents music while being cool and alternative in my generation. I was in awe of Jeff's musical ability. And I loved that I could share music with my Dad who later killed himself in 1996. So while most people remember their teen years fondly, they were extra special for me because they also take me back to when I still had my Dad to share my music with 🙂 ❤
my dad loved a lot of the music i played for him too, i the last 5 years of is life he lived with me, he was a guitar player that played lots of country music, but he seen and heard talent and gave it its credit we're credit is due, he passed away in october last year in 2020 at the age of 77. your story moved me brother
They're not really a metal band, but a couple metal bands have covered them. Hollenthon covered "The Bazaar" and Melechesh covered "Gyroscope"--really good covers!
I never forget watching the tea party at the St George sailing club in Sydney in 1998 when Jeff asked the whole crowd to sit on the floor for the show. It was like being at school Also saw them in Sydney on there very first tour What a band
I was in Sydney when they came too, but didn't know anyone to take with me. Being a young fearful 20 something female, I drove by the venue and sat in the car deliberating for ages whether I should go in. Then I drove off. What a waste not to see this awesome band. Such raw emotion and moody intriguing music. Glad you saw them. Now I'm 57 and couldn't care less about those fears. Luckily there's youtube to still see them in all their glory days, albeit not live.
@@Victoria-gq8gtyou should have gone in to watch them live it’s an awesome experience. They recently played at the Enmore theatre in July this year another great show. There music is brilliant
I grew up listening to this track and the band and I'm now 20 years old and since I'm Canadian and The Tea Party is one of the more popular bands to come out of Canada and if I remember they started off in downtown Montreal at Metropolis and other venues. I've seen them live twice and they put on a great show every time.

@@whocares3868 Same. I was 19 in 1995 as I startet to listen to their music. As JM once said their songs are not for fast food consummation, no Pop but substantial profound music (well I can‘t remember word for word...). I totally agree with this . you need to take time and may find every time listening to the songs new amazing features like the way Jeff Burrows play the drums in Majestic Song or Stuart played this Mandolin (instead of J. Martin) in Shadows on the Mountainside. Jeff Martins way of singing in Inanna when it comes to the showdown...and so in.. So lovely and passionate all 3 of them. Aww 🥰
Sucks they got the Doors stigma. They rocked and for what its worth I will always belt this one out. Especially the "Yese" thats the hardest part. Thank you TP, be proud of the influence you have had
Saw them in Halifax last Thursday probably for the 10th time. Absolutely stellar performance. Easily my favorite band. Psychopomp live is worth the ticket price alone!
Me too! Haven’t listen to their music since years. now I'm catching up on everything. Especially the last 3 Albums. I stopped buying their music after ‚Triptych‘. I am more into the first albums. Transmission and triptych were quite different and I could no longer find access to the music. nowadays I can delineate that. Songs like Psychopomp, the Messenger as well are great. I'm on fire again and am still wondering why this band never had the big success but actually a nice thought that although they get great approval from the music world regarding talent and virtuosity, they never became a band that everyone loved. what everyone thinks is good can't be really good!
This became my favorite band after hearing this song, seen them on their second album tour with Econoline Crush Seen them 8 times from Hamilton Toronto Buffalo Tonawanda Lockport Still amazes me they have such few likes Now in Florida prob never see them again in concert for whoever has a chance they are the only band that is actually better then the cds sound...
The first time I heard this me and my friend were headed to Des Moines to see Metallica, Danzig and Suicidal Tendencies at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, July 25, 1994. I wish I could remember which station we were listening to, but I think it was KGGO.
This song played in a tv show maybe mid 2000s or 2010s. Actor was freaking out because his friend was killed. Can’t remember the name of show ! Scene was so powerful w this song. This ring a bell to anyone? Name of series escapes me!
1974 baby here!!! Saw them in basement of the Coach and Horses way back in day. Solid Windsor (Lasalle) boys who I think rock with the best of the best. When Robert Plant is giving ur band solid props, you know u have made it. Proud Windsorite’s
I was lucky enough to catch these guys back in the day play Splendor Solace at a little place called The Blues Bar in little old Christchurch NZ. What a great night!
I saw The Tea Party and a band called Blue Bones at the Commodore Ball Room for a music series called Westcoast Music...... in the mid 90s, both bands Rocked hard, was a Great Evening
One of my top 5 bands, easily. They headlined my first concert, during the Edges of Twilight tour. Saw them many times after that, always a great show.
I really dig this tune , just heard it on a show called Bad Blood on Netflix . never heard of this band but now i will be checking them out . wish I would have discovered them sooner .
2024! Still a rocker.
This band just doesn't get tge credit it deserves
Agreed. Their first few albums are GOLD! I think Jeff is better than Jim!

it's the vocals. the music itself is very Zeppelin-ish.
Story goes his mum used to be a doors groupie , so we like to think anyway ✌️
No band pulls me back into the 90's quite like The Tea Party.
Canadian Rock legends
Here for the blue chin mystery, honestly I really think this is our answer.

Just discovered them....in love 100% this is what metal has been missing
I just re-discovered them! Jeff Martin's voice is sultry superb-ness. Music is better than I remembered!🥰
definetly isnt metal. beautiful band all time favourite and one of the only nonmetal bands i actively listen to

DA BEST-
Jeff Burrows is a madman on drums. The SARS Molson Canadian Rocks concert in Downsview Pk, Toronto- the Tea Party kicked ass! Worth seeing online.
I am shocked at the lack of views... This song is legendary and has lived in my head for many years...
2023 and this song is so good… It has and will stand the test of time. 😊
"And the river is running through my veins" The Tea Party is so great!

That part that starts at 2:50 though...That's the best part of the song. This takes me back to when I watched Much Music in the 90s as a teen.
My first kiss happened during
this summer of
83. I was 11 and I relate this song to her.
Love them coming here to London Ont in june
I wish they would tour thru southern states !!! Most people down south have never heard of this freaking bada$$ trio !!!
My favorite band of all time. Absolutely transcendent.
These guys R O C K! Guitar RIPS!

They better stop covering songs though. Jeffs getting bad for playing only 50% of the time. Great for 1st timer fans, but I'm on show 10 like you LOL.

Led Zeppelin Meets The Doors.👍👍👍👍
Yeah and that was a extremely tough sell in 1992 and 93. As a kid I wanted my own music not music that sounded like my parent's music.
I only heard this band watching “Bad Blood” and I’ve been rocking them ever since.
The River is one of those timeless songs, I luv dancing to it *smiles*

A modern day Jim Morrison

I just saw them play this live last night. I needed to hear it one more time ❤❤❤
Awesome song.
2023 still a bangin track
Saw these guys at the Station in sarnia in 93, while i was going to college. It was a magical night best live show ever.

Saw them in Winnipeg back in the early 90,s loved them
