      I like the Tea Party. I had all the albums and saw them live three times but can't say they were underrated. If anything, Much Music played their videos to death during the 1990s. The issue was the Tea Party never hit it big in the United States.

      I feel ya! I was living this band as a teenager in Canada, they hit hard in a way that spoke to me. Sadly my old discs got scratched harder than a cat on nip, but thrift shopping these days will see me with all their best, and everything I was listing to on my then very savy Discman that I won through a contest through the Toronto Sun!
      God damn though, 25 years ago...ain't no way I'm eager to see where we'll be another 25 to come...

      I remember where I was the first time I became aware of this music from this band. I was standing under an Oak tree when a co-worker walked up to me and we started having a conversation. He hadn't been with the company for long, so I didn't know him very well. He said he was from the Pacific Northwest..I told him how beautiful the area was. He agreed. He then asked me if I had heard of a band called The Doors. I told him that, yes I had heard of that band, but that I didn't hear that music growing up because I was born in 1973. But I had been aware of The Doors, only because one of my older siblings was a fan of music - all kinds of music. I'm sure I heard a song or two of The Doors on a classic radio station ( golden age rock ) , but I didn't know a lot about them as a band until my brother would tell me why he liked one of their songs. He looked at lyrics and tried to understand what they were communicating. He liked to write poetry. I don't. I like research papers because they don't require me to be creative. When I can , I like to do other types of art. Over the years, as I grew older, I would bond with my brother ( we didn't always get along). He was an angry alcoholic. But when we were talking about music, we actually could tolerate each other. He had a lot of physical, blunt force trauma to his head as a young child. Only when I enrolled in a psychology class, did I realize that he couldn't be the brother I needed, because he was broken inside. And it wasn't his fault. Then I was more compassionate with him and wished I could have known sooner, Many of years of wasted time fighting with him. So that's why I feel like he's watching out for me. So the guy loaned me a cassette tape, asked me to listen to it and give my honest opinion of it when I returned it. I told him that I thought The Tea Party is good music. I enjoyed listening too.

      @Danimal77 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I got hooked when I heard Let Me Show You The Door in 1991 and then when I heard The River in 1992 there was NO turning back. I bought Splendor Solis the day it was released in 1993. By the time the Fire in the Head single came out in the Spring of 1995, I'd already been a die hard fan of the band for years and ended up buying every single album the day they were each released. I was gutted when they broke up in 2005, but I stayed a fan of Jeff Martin's solo career and was stoked when The Tea Party reformed in 2011. My favorite band of all-time.

    Back in 2009, sometime after August, a co- worker and I were having some conversation about this and that. He asked me if I liked the music group The Doors. This guy said he was originally from the Northwest. Anyway, he brought a cassette tape of this band up to work and asked me if I'd go home and listen to it and tell him what I thought. So I did. Thankfully, I had a radio that still had a cassette player attached. I brought it back about a week or two later and gave it back and said that I liked the music very much and that I'd remember the name of the band. Thus was before youtube and after M.t.v. Not sure when I looked the video up on TH-cam but I was startled to see how much he resembles the lead singer of The Doors. But yeah, enjoyed the music! -J.F

    I got super high on ephedrine pills, it was a all day concert with our lady peace headlining. Back in 98’
    Winnipeg . Side stage had glueleg , econoline crush and age of electric. There was others but I can’t recall.
    MainStage first band I don’t recall. But Collective soul played. Ok I’ll just say this I want really pumped about any of these bands. I went because of my girlfriend. But anyway I digress. Collective soul blew my mind. They sounded soo heavy. Looking back on it was probably because 3 guitars cranked, 1 bass and drums.
    There radio orientated 90’s “yarl” hits were in full flight . But they finished there set with “crazy train” . Because of that I’ll never dog them out . After that was “I Mother Earth” another brilliant Canadian band. Then it was the tea party. BY this time 8 hours went by , I was popping pills and downing beers . I didn’t finish the tea party’s set which I totally regret. Missing our lady peace made
    No impact on me what so ever.

    The singer sounds familiar...any ties to Fuel, Tantric, Days of the New, etc.?

      They are Canadian and amazingly talented! They are still making music! I saw them live a couple years back, they had a new album. They played music from their older albums and the new one. It was incredible! You need to go down the tea party rabbit hole and discover all their amazing music lol

    Something this unique is like is beyond Lez Zep and The Doors, its like something astronomical is reaching out. The intense and mystical nature of The Tea Party music surprises those70s bands.

    My ex said she didn't like this song back when we're together, but later after we broke up, she kept playing it to remind her of me. This is just not a typical music of an indonesian guy like me, she found that my taste of music is different.. 😂

    Great song, but did someone run this track through a compressor?! The high notes in the chorus normally pop a whole lot more.

      Music had nothing to do with doors, except baritone voice and facial resemblance. Definitely zeppelin, middle resemblance to kashmir

    At first i thought they were a Doors rip off band, yeah the guy has the looks and dresses like Jim Morrison but they are a legit kick ass band, not as good as The Doors but they've got a unique sound that they own and do very very well.
