As a teenager, I always loved the car. My mates brother had to look after for a while. As young boys, we were excited to go out in. My mates brother driving a higher level when over took a car going uphill with only a cap width of the to get us back to our side of the road was amazing. He put it into kick down, and it took off like a rocket. The smell of rubber and smoke that came into the cabin was unbelievable. Am now sixty-four great memories 😊😊😊
A school friends father was the chauffer for the then owner of Jensen Motors, I was driven a few times in the very first Jensen CV8, it was in British Racing Green. Such a beautiful car very fast acceleration & though technically a Mk1 it had 3 way Armstrong Selecta Rides shocks/dampers that actually worked. I have never had the money or garage space to buy a good one, I have owned & worked on lots of V8's after being smitten by this car, an affliction for V8's my son has caught from me.
Harsh verdict. See it in real life, and it has total presence. Far better than computer designed family blobs and "supercars" that can only identified by their badges.
Haha! Right! We are we are surrounded by shitty machines, some with grilles that look like a monkey's ass, others that hurt the eyes by too many edges, others seem to be produced in Duckburg, supercars are the epitome of bad taste in their XXL sizes.
They’re stunningly beautiful exquisitely made and beautifully trimmed and terrific fun to drive. One of the truly great sixties supercars. Trouble is that once an idiotic road tester with no sense of the aesthetic has said it’s ugly, no one else stops to think he may be wrong. I’ve always loved them and wanted one. 11mpg is the issue.
I believe that plexiglass headlamp covers are now available made to order from a member of the owners club which transforms them into how they were originally designed to look. Awesome beasts! 🧐
Beautiful car, and hardly ugly!!! Innovative? Yes definitely, as this was an amazing super motor at the time (mid-sixties), and I reckon I only ever saw no more than 3 of them in my life. I'm not sure even now whether or not these Jensens were mainly for export only, but it certainly seemed as if that was the case. I always remember the actor Steve Forrest using one in the UK 1960s thriller series 'The Baron'. I'd have one in a heartbeat, if the body was made of aluminium outer panels, and agree that fibreglass is a nightmare especially if repairs are needed.
Top speed and 0-60 time almost identical to my 1988 Alfa-Romeo Milano but the Alfa was just a 2 litre 4 pot engine and about 148 BHP. I know which I would rather drive and the Alfa boot could hold two sets of Golf Clubs as well.
That car is anything but ugly! I will admit that it is unique and yes the front end is busy, but the the lines and rear end are pretty nice! The interior is top notch. Then there is the power plant, American muscle is always good. I would take one in a heart beat.
No matter what your negative thoughts are Mr Narrator Ive always loved the CV8 and I noticed as you are obviously an American your tune soon changed when you were singing 🎶 The Chrysler V8s praises didnt they
Can't tell if it's a B or RB engine...a 383 or 413/426/440 would make it scream , whichever it was. Then let an American Hot Rodder get his hands on it, and lookout....
Ugly ! No way quirky / beautiful it has presence , character and individuality. Take the badges off a dozen new cars and you would never figure out who’s who , take me back to the days of cars like this
Ugly ? not in my book pal. oh, and for the record, it was slower than both the DB5 and the E type as stated in the video. maybe they should have opted for a British or a European engine for performance instead of a Chrysler.
These aren't an ugly car park it next to the stomach churning Nissan Juke and the telling thing about a great looking car is how many times has it has been replicated but these Jensen have never been replicated
LOL ! that's what i said to my wife nine years ago when we found a 150 hp turbo diesel honda CRV with an ugly brown color ,on sale because it was in a hail storm at the docks where it was unloaded . the dings were barely noticeable ,so i said to her " you won't see the color when you are driving it " 😂

Ugly are those who consider this car as "ugly". A real masterpiece of British design.
Lovely car, had the pleasure to drive a Mk2 in 1973 and its performance was superb.
I've always thought that the front end looks seriously aggressive and bad-ass, which is easily backed up by its performance.
Really different which makes it beautiful in my eyes, very rare these days.
It's definitely not ugly!

It’s not ugly it’s unique if it was Italian it would be a Maserati
Beauty and purposeful . The Baron loved it .
Played by Steve Forrest.
@@Caskchap the secretary was a bit of a beauty too , Sue Loyd .
Harsh verdict. See it in real life, and it has total presence. Far better than computer designed family blobs and "supercars" that can only identified by their badges.
Ugly ??? it's beautiful !
todays computer designed cars are what is ugly . they all look like clones of one another .
If that’s ugly, wait till you see anything made in the last 10 years.

11mpg is the issue.
Nah. Just doesn’t look like the rest. Its splendid.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Looks good to me.
Trust me, the CV8 is gorgeous compared to the 541R.
Ugly?? That is a class looking car, I always loved the look of these.
I believe that plexiglass headlamp covers are now available made to order from a member of the owners club which transforms them into how they were originally designed to look. Awesome beasts! 🧐
It all goes to show what an astonishing car the Jensen Interceptor was….fast, beautiful and exceptional cool.
Yes, except this isn't an Interceptor !
Not ugly but too british without Italian class and american fascination, was simply overshadowed from the spectacular Jensen Interceptor
I love the eccentric looks. Spent some time with a black one, dark colours look best.

The 62 dart that chrysler crammed a 413 wedge imto gets my vote.
UGLY ????
You should bring a visit to Specsavers ! 😂😂😂😂😂

Not unlike many Chrysler cars of the 60's. Quirky styling, but great powertrains.
It's the headlights. They just look incomplete.
No getting around it, I'm afraid. That car's not just ugly, it's FUGLY!
God; I want one SO bad!!
Der Wagen ist wunderschön!
Love the styling! Thanks to the pricks at the big auto auction houses, cars like this are priced too high for us ordinary people.

The interior for example had a incredible english class but not so modern and iconic like the interior of Jensen Interceptor mkII or mkIII
great video ,,, it really needed those headlight covers , but its far from ugly as it is.
No matter what your negative thoughts are Mr Narrator Ive always loved the CV8 and I noticed as you are obviously an American your tune soon changed when you were singing 🎶 The Chrysler V8s praises didnt they
Looks like a Citroen designer was moonlighting....
Clearly the poster included the word "ugly" to generate clicks
I would buy one!
Can't tell if it's a B or RB engine...a 383 or 413/426/440 would make it scream , whichever it was.
Then let an American Hot Rodder get his hands on it, and lookout....
If aston martin had a kid with a lincoln and claimed his dad was a jaguar
Ugly is different
This is British in a way that won't return and we miss.
Regards from Italy.
Not ugly. Distinctive.
Ugly??? It was a great design! I went to Earl's Court Motor Show with my father when it first came out... Heresy!
Gorgeous
No-one under 60 years old is qualified to talk about styling of 60 year old cars. Gees, just look at the crap they drive now
You've Done A great job 👏 👍 4:54
It's not ugly how I see it, but rather, masculine.
Ugly ! No way quirky / beautiful it has presence , character and individuality. Take the badges off a dozen new cars and you would never figure out who’s who , take me back to the days of cars like this
I want one
Faster than a e type no slower than a e type the jag can hit 155 to 160 depending on gearing.
Ugly ? not in my book pal. oh, and for the record, it was slower than both the DB5 and the E type as stated in the video. maybe they should have opted for a British or a European engine for performance instead of a Chrysler.
Its not a bad looking car at all
It is ugly to call this car ugly, and it is unprofessional.
These aren't an ugly car park it next to the stomach churning Nissan Juke and the telling thing about a great looking car is how many times has it has been replicated but these Jensen have never been replicated
It doesn't matter. Just stay inside the car and never step out. You won't see it. Like yourself.
LOL ! that's what i said to my wife nine years ago when we found a 150 hp turbo diesel honda CRV with an ugly brown color ,on sale because it was in a hail storm at the docks where it was unloaded .
the dings were barely noticeable ,so i said to her " you won't see the color when you are driving it " 😂
hate the artificial voice. ruins a good presentation .
Another admirable ugly car. I love it !
"POWERFUL engine" ..3 second shot...ZERO description,. then a shot of something else completely.....
Guessing it was a big Mopar......
It is kind of appealing, but also kinda ugly. Also, did chatGPT write this?
🤓
Ugly? Not at all
Fackin ell mate, you want ugly just look across the pond at the AMC Gremlin or Ford Pinto! Your car is pure art…
