The car itself was a modified AC Ace built by AC Cars in England who collaborated on what was essentially Carroll Shelby's own project. They produced a rolling chassis complete with bodywork, suspension, and a Jaguar rear end and the car was then shipped to Shelby's workshop, a hangar at Los Angeles International Airport, where he dropped the drivetrain in it and completed assembly.
