Great cargo capacity. Customized weapons load out capability. More armor than a Bane Blade. Void shields. Call Mars and tell them to stop making the Stormbirds! We must not do anything that makes sense.
They listened to you ahead of time. They hardly produced any over the last 10 millenia :D
In every HH novel that I've read, in which a Primarch or regular Marines are in a Thunderhawk, they hate the things, and would rather be in a Storm Bird. They thought the Thunderhawk was cheaply made, under gunned, and lacked any elegance what so ever.
Since the Thunderhawk was a 'Full STC Pattern', The Toaster Lovers on the other hand, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread ( or nutrient paste, take your pick).
They could make Thunderhawks on just about any Forge World, and in large numbers. In the end, with the loss of knowledge at the end of the Heresy, and the ease of manufacture of the Thunderhawk, is what doomed the Storm Bird.
They were used to a lot of better things back in the Great Crusade. But I think it also bothered them because back then the legions fought in much larger formations. A current space marine chapter wouldn't have much use for a transport that can literally fit 10% of their whole chapter inside. Thunderhawks are more versatile for smaller deployments.
Stormbirds are magnificent, Imo, Fire Raptor>Stormbird>Thunderhawk>Storm Raven>Corvus Blackstar
If I recall correctly, some Stormbirds where equipped with energy shields(Probably Primarch rides)
Dragon Warriors Chaos Warband had a Stormbird in their armory.
I thought the stormbird comes with a void shield as standard? Because you can extend it in a area around the flyer to protect your disembarking troops. I may have misunderstood what you meant though so please feel free to correct me if I have.
This is an AWESOME aircraft/tank/mobile destruction bringer/transport. They need to bring these back!
Maybe Guilliman will.
Have written this a few times recently, the Stormbird might make a comeback because the new dreadnoughts are a lot bigger than the castraferrum (boxy bot) and might not fit in a Thunderhawk.
Nice. Thanks for the info.
You're welcome.
First to say thanks. Thanks for the vid sir.
You're welcome.
Hmm... I don't remember them making a fuss about how large they were when primarch arrived in them on each others' flag ships in the novels I've read... That said I guess everything was bigger in ye olden days...
To formations like the old legions, they were probably standard issue and nothing special. Which is probably why they complained the considerably smaller Thunderhawks were cramped and inferior.
@@GrimDarkNarrator there's something mildly ridiculous about complaining about being stuck in a cramped spaceship when you spend most of your life sealed in a suit of armour 😂
Forgeworld sells this thing for over twelve hundred us dollars... You can nearly buy an old german mothballed Me 262 stormbird lol
Forge World prices are total rip offs. For that amount of money, I could buy a semi decent used car.( And don't look at their Titan prices, you'll really have a heart attack)
@@gregdomenico1891By the time ive saved up for one it'll be discontinued lmao! For the amount of $$$/£££ you could get a 3D printer and make your own XD
For that amount, you could travel to the UK, plan a heist, buy all the required gear and steal them :D
@@GrimDarkNarrator I'll drive XD
Nearly have this printed, saving me hundreds upon hundreds of dollars.
So bassicly sokhars are flying scout titans warhawks are flying reaver titans and condors are flying battle titans . Interesting
Storm bird or die
First to first, 2nd to like, 2nd to watch.... Beaten again..
Thanks grim for the upload brilliant flyer in my eyes since you mentioned this video was coming out on your last space marine flyer video I've been so looking forward to seeing it and I wasn't at all disappointed loved it I really want to get this model but I can't justify paying the £800 odd for it. Might just need to set up a new forge World model fund box to set aside any spare money and just see how it goes I mean I've got my eye on the new knight armour acastus knight asterius which is just under five hundred pounds less in price which sounds a lot better plus would make a good addition to my current knight army which already fields the other similar class knight from forge World which I got a while back but as much as I'm not too keen with the weapon arm mounts just the way it looks there's something about it that just really appeals to me. Anyway great video grim and thanks again for your work.
Thanks for sharing that info. And for the support!
@@GrimDarkNarrator you know one of things that I do really like about the stormbird is the shape and layout the thunderhawk is really cool but that's it the stormbird is like a cross of the thunderhawk gunship plus transport yeah you lose the turbolaser and can only carry the one rhino tank but it makes sense to me for starts I much prefer the more wider frame of the flyer what you can do with the void shields and the lay out of engine's turrets and the ship all round it looks like it was meant for taking a beating and come out on top each time. the set up I would have on the stormbird is for one keeping the lascannons on the side mounts inside a rhino full of troops one dreadnought two laser destroyer rapier batteries and if I've worked out the space right twenty space marine sternguards if I've worked it out right with how much it can carry and the values of each units in how much space they take. Don't worry I'm just talking myself into buying it lol
cool lore man
Thanks.
