This bronco is more than enough! And especially if you plan on doing some upgrades yourself might as well get the base (especially in manual). What a killer machine they have made
I'm a GMC guy, but have to give Ford credit for offering excellent value on this Bronco. Four wheel drive, manual transmission and air conditioning. What more does a truck guy really need? I'm glad to give up all the ridiculous "upgrades" in exchange for a clutch and decent fuel mileage.
Gosh I love these things. It’s so refreshing to see a true barebones real 2 door SUV with 3 pedals for a somewhat reasonable price. Especially in a land where everyone and their dog has a big unnecessary crossover with heaps of redundant technology and 0 capability. People have forgotten what a real SUV is, and this is the greatest example of one in what feels like decades. I look forward to seeing these on the used market in the coming years. Might have to pick one up at some point.
Thank you for that!! That Bronco appears to bee a candidate for a replacement for my beloved 2007 Honda Element. Manual 5 speed trans, 4wd with no bells and no whistles. But it had 75 cu ft of cargo room and could swallow a few pieces of 8 foot lumber. And it had a tailgate (HELLO BRONCO - Yeah, that tailgate thing is a big deal). Gotta look at the numbers to see if the 2 door bronco has enough room in it. I could have a manual trans and rear wheel drive - a BRAND NEW ONE! My Mustang may be on the market soon.
I got a higher trim for the off-road traction aids, but like you I got the stick. Expected to hate the autostop, but I concur that it's no problem, because the first thing you do to get going is depress the clutch, that restarts the engine so it's ready to go into gear as soon as you shift. It causes no delay and saves some gas, so while there's a handy button to disable the feature, I never press it. However worth noting if you stay on the clutch, the engine stays running.
Love my 22' 2 door Base manual in the Area 51 color. (My base price was $28,500 before only a few extras). Got the 2" Zone lift kit and currently sitting on 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's.
The few extras I got were the roof rails, modular front bumper, aux switches, and block heater. Since I got it in March of 2022 I've put on ceramic tint, 12" sub and amp, bug deflector, rocker panel armor, 50cal bullet antenna, Husky floor liners, Oracle triple fog lights, Rough Country Osram ditch lights, front tow shackles, overhead grab handles, and probably forgetting a bunch of things lol.
@Money Shift yes I did. I plan on using them for my winter tires here in Minnesota. Until they actually wear out then I'm going to put some actual winter tires on the steelies. But absolutely loving the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's!
Yup, and a consistent 23 mpg mixed driving. The hill brake is a big plus. The Bridgestone Dulers is not what I would expect on the base 2 door. I did opt for the modular bumper to be flat tow capable, mud flaps, opt switches, roof rack and aftermarket running boards and tow hitch. I feel all of the option's prices were also a bargain.
I wish it came in a 2wd only configuration. For the people who just want to use it as a daily driver. It will be much lighter, no need to carry front axles and transfer case around.
@@geoffreyfagan1798 Keep in mind Jeep sold a LOT of 2wd XJs. They are basically small station wagons with big engines (if you have the 4.0). Great question Diego! I would choose the Bronco. The Bronco has more features stock, a better manual transmission, and the 2.3T with the Ford Performance tune is a lot more fun and daily driveable than the V6 in the Wrangler.

Great review. This thing is such a throwback. I love it. There are a couple at local dealers I'm going to go check out. At this price I don't know if there is a better value for a legit 4x4 that actually looks cool.

only thing I'd really be missing is the bigger screen, and leather wrapped heated steering wheel and heated seats. If anybody knows where you can mod those, be sure to send me some links. I don't really want to spend an extra 13,500 CAD to get a Badlands just to have a few features that I'd prefer and a bunch that I'd never use until the vehicle is 15 years old. If you get the screen and bezel from your Ford dealer you should be able to upgrade to the bigger screen. If you are ok with not having the built in Nav it is a total cakewalk to install. As for the heated seats, Katskin offers an add-on for them should you want to go that route, and the steering wheel is a direct swap as well!
