Love your story!!!! Thank you for sharing all the details;) I’m smiling ear to ear thinking about how things can fall in place …. with a lot of effort and patience! 🙌
Awe thank you Toni. This house is really coming along beautifully but still has a lot of improving and TLC. Every time I’m there I do some fixing but the garden takes the most work which I love
What a great video. Nicely done. So glad for you both to have found what makes you both feel at HOME, and good about the journey. Looking forward to the coming videos about how the new home takes shape. And of course the beautiful scenic videos you post. I am/was "Boone's Mom". I know you remember.
Visited Hawaii twice so far. BEST 10 days of my life in 2000, second best ten days of my life in 2021 or so. I don't have the income to keep visiting or to relocate there. But absolutely for sure, if I won the lottery on Saturday, I'd be moving there on Sunday! (I don't play the lottery) so thank you for sharing your success in getting back there. Now to go confess my sin of envy! 😀
Hi there, I just watched the part 1 and lm the same feeling about HAWAII EVERY TIME I VISITED…I LOVE BEING IN HAWAII ❤ Makes me feel happy and content ❤I’m thinking about moving to the big island someday when I retire ❤
I understand, Hawaii gets in your blood. The land, the weather and the people make Hawaii such a Paradise. Welcome to the Big Island, Nastaran. I have lived here since 2014 and no desire to leave.
I retired to Big Island at 28 years old, in 1992 and though I've traveled the world a bit It is home. Every part of the Island I have lived in. My favorite place is covered by lava now... .but in the 90s it was quiet & Very peaceful by the tidal pools. Have you visited the BEST beach? ..the Keaau Shipman beach is worth the walk to get to. ❤
I can’t believe you’re 61, more so in your 50’s! Did a fabulous renovation on your home; Lovely and cozy, with beautiful, surroundings. I relocated from Ca for 5 years now, and are surrounded by lush greenery, which adds ti the beauty of the islands. We are all so lucky!
Awe thank you so much. I totally agree and feel so blessed and lucky to be able to have a piece of this paradise. May I ask which side of the island you live in? Hope you’re enjoying your new home as well.
Also ha. Thank you for your comment. You know I wasn’t planning on it but I must say that I really like that idea. Thank you for putting that thought in my head and I hope to hear from you in future videos.
Aloha Nastaran, I must have missed this one, as I saw part 2, first😂. This was very interesting and thank you for sharing some nice details. Having wanted to live on the big island for many years now, and having looked at properties, I see exactly what you have gone through. Glad you stayed away from the property with all the pit bull dogs and noise, smart move👍👌🌴🌴 The feeling around your neighborhood is truly peaceful and so close to the water, for your daily walks👍😁🌴. I know that you and Mike are happy together in this beautiful place you have created for yourselves. In this troubled world of today, having your piece of heaven and companionship makes life so blessed-happy for you Nastaran! Mahalo for you and your sweat spirit and gentle ways! David from Oregon 😁🌴🌴🌴
Aloha Dave. You must’ve felt so confused about why I started babbling about the house with no introductions, but happy you found part one so now it starts to make sense a little bit I hope. I am so glad I did not settle with the house with nine pit balls also. Like one Neighbor told me one time in our area dogs are companion and pets and not a security system😁. Do you think you will ever retire in Hawaii? Or at least visit anytime soon?
@@Nastaran.Battles Aloha and thank you for the nice respond. I retired from the California Department of corrections. I was a correctional counselor/ peace officer for 25 years. I would move to Hawaii in a nanosecond 😉😉😁, however my children all live here and my wife -loves it there- but this is home for her and her connections. I guess that’s the way life goes sometimes. I do enjoy living there through your eyes and feelings and videos. I’m sure I will visit again sometime, as my last visit was for two week about august of last year. Thank you again for your sweet and caring conversations and your video content. Until next time😁🌴🌴🥰
Congratulations you could see past the cosmetics to realize your dreams. You found your life sweet spot. I went for a week to visit a friend in Volcanoe Village and then rented a little house in Lelani Estates for many months. Now I just housesit when I can usually on Oahu to get my aloha fix. Blessings to you. The Aloha is Real.
Aloha and thank you so much for your comment. Yes I feel so good to be done with the house search. Interesting that you found a way to get your aloha. Very creative. Good for you. I appreciate you watching and have a beautiful day in paradise.
Word of advice; lots of homeless live in the jungles around that side of the Big Island. They usually rob houses of people who dont live there full-time, so if you are vacationing for any long length of time, or your neighbors dont like you id expect your house to be robbed at some point. From what I understand, they wont rob you physically; but your stuff if left unattended will be gone. Also; id also check what Lava Zone you are in, in order to get an expectation of potential issues with that. Lastly; make sure you double check your homeowners insurance.
Aloha to you and thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate your advice. I have a neighbor who is in my house every day and takes care of things. Plus I have a security system with lots of cameras as well. Unfortunately, theft and burglary are Common there with increased drug activity. I’m so lucky to have such good neighbors who are always watching and helping each other. Yeah the lava zones can matter in your homeowners insurance and they are not cheap at all. Mahalo for watching and have a beautiful day.
I was gonna post this same thing. I retired from insurance claims in the state, you need to be cautious sometimes the whole house is cleared out of contents in these remote areas. Lotta unsavory types move to south big island.
great video! My mother, grandparents and great grandparents are all from Oahu. So I grew up with the culture. Considered moving there a few years back, but moved to vegas instead. Considering maybe a possible move to the big island in the future. Hilo rains alot;)
Aloha my friend. Yes Hilo definitely has a lot of rain, but to me that’s so beautiful too and gives life to the tropical vegetation. Kona on the other hand is so dry and some areas remind me of Vegas. So wonderful to have family in Oahu. Hope you visit often. Thank you for watching and for your comment.
Beautiful video and good watch. I understand your connection to Pahao. 1990 I moved from California to pahoa to help a build a house for my high school friends parents. I was lucky enough to experience Kalapana. I quickly made friends with a few young locals and was surfing every day or fishing if no waves. 91 a girl moved in across the st on lalakea st. We started dating and she got pregnant in 94. We decided we better move back to the mainland, get married and grow up (because Hawaii was a big playground for 2 young kids in love). 30 years later and I so want to go back, I feel it's where I need to be, my happy place. My wife and I can't leave our children though and be so far away from them. It was funny you saying the police weren't cooperative. A neighbors pit bull was stolen. They called the cops and when the cops showed up they told our neighbor, looks like those people have bad stuff going on, I'd stay away. The cop left and went back up to pahoa lol. I believe they called pahoa Dodge town back then. Enjoy your life on the big island 🤙😊
@@Itsjustme0071rocker Thank you for sharing your story with me. Your memories are so beautiful. My children are grown up and that has given me a freedom to do this which is so foreign to me. Most of my life I’ve been a mother having to take care of my children . The police is definitely not as cooperative here for sure. You can never remove squatters out of your house. Different rules and culture. We have to take the good with the bad. Thank you again for watching and hope to hear from you in other videos. Have a beautiful day
Aloha to you too neighbor. We miss at live very close. Don’t you love this beautiful neighborhood of ours? Do t forget to watch the second part as well
@@Nastaran.Battles I literally left my whole heart there. I met people from all over the world, worked for the largest law firm in Hawaii, modeled part time for Barbizon and met friends that remained friends, even after I left the island. Whatever you do, NEVER leave. My life has been good in Colorado, I finished my college degree, bought a home, and had an enjoyable career as a Software Developer for the past 24 years. And yet, I still yearn for home. I have traveled back to the Islands about eight times since leaving. Mostly I visit Kauai, because it is my favorite Island. I have never been to the Big Island. Only, Maui, Kauai and Oahu. I am thinking about retiring on Maui. Enjoy Hawaii, it is truly a magical place. When I was there, I felt like Alice in Wonderland.
