So basically, most of the gameplay you’re gonna wanna choose performance, but if you’re just driving cross country and sight seeing, choose quality for that extra foliage, lighting, and texture detail. That’s what I’m doing.
I lived through the ps2, xbox & ps3 generation I can go back to 30 fps. When I first started playing I noticed it quite heavily, especially in cutscenes. But after an hour or so I got used to it and wasn't bothered or anything. However, thanks to this video it doesn't seem like the differences are too big so may as well just go with performance mode, game still looks nice after all.
Even when im not playing I get annoyed looking at 30fps. I honestly dont even see this massive difference the guy is talking about. The constant shimmering slowmo effect 30 fps produce is a no-go for me. They look 100% identical to me except that one is running at 60 fps and looks playable while the other one doesn't.
I’ve absolutely loved the Forza series since the 1st one on the original Xbox and it’s the only game in the history of owning Xboxes that I’ve ever pre-ordered. If you look at how much life Turn 10 pumped into Horizon 4 and Forza 7 with the on going Forzathons and change of seasons it’s the one game I felt at peace with paying $100 for with the car pass, expansion pass and vip pass.
The LOD changes on vegetation are very aggressive in performance mode, but when you focus on racing it should not be too noticeable. Definitely the way to play.
I'll go with Quality Mode, Forza Horizon is one of these rare Gems which is (besides the good Gameplay obviously) all about Graphic Fidelity, and i simply want visually a true next gen experience. Also (and DF also mentioned it in their comparison) the Devs are pretty good in optimizing Controls and stuff(plus the motion blur also do it's thing...) that even the 30fps feels good. I'm honest, i'm pretty happy that we get these days the choice of what we prefer. Some people seem bothered by it, but i'd argue it's only a good thing if you can choose if you want higher fps or higher resolution/graphic fidelity.
I can not wait for this damn game!! Haven't been this hype about a game in a looooong time... I think I'll have a little Quality mode to start things off and then switch to performance mode after I've taken in all the beauty
Now that I've played this game at 60fps now for about two weeks, I can't go back to 30fps. It almost seems as if it's lagging in a way. It's a fast-paced game, and subjectively the 60fps is the way to go.
Yeah, GT7 looks awesome, but it isn’t a Forza Horizon competitor, more of a Forza Motorsport competitor. Lot of people think Horizon 5 is a GT7 competitor even though it really isn’t. FH5s biggest competitor as of right now is TDU Solar Crown coming out next year.

Agreed. I grew up playing racing games in 30fps or lower and loved them. Now I can hardly play any kind of game in less than 60fps without getting a headache. The weird thing is I have PC and Series X and play on a 144hz monitor, but for most games it doesn't matter if it is running 60fps or 144+fps, it always looks fine, but less than 60 and it starts looking like a PowerPoint and I start getting a headache. Maybe it is the TH-cam compression or something, but I feel like the "Quality Mode" is almost blurrier in some parts, negating the "quality improvements".
They are probably using dynamic quality options with a fps target to keep a stable framerate with the best possible visuals. The only way to get a higher framerate with this method would be to change the fps target, and therefore trade off some visual quality for the game to reach said target.
@@NickBosshard Regardless, uncapped FPS should always be an option, the mid-gen Series X 2024 should be able to max out whatever quality settings they have and still raise the framerate by 15-20fps.

The engine used right now is limited by the capabilities of the Xbox One consoles, but you can be sure that this same problem won’t arise for FH6 or FM8, as Xbox One will no longer be supported.

To me quality mode only looks better when you're completely still (like trying to take photos or something), the 30 FPS is too juttery for me so it actually looks worse than performance mode IMO because in performance mode I can see details much clearer, even if there are fewer of them. Really wish devs would stop chasing the 4k res dream like I don’t think many consumers actually give a damn. I feel like most of us would happily settle at 1080p or 1440p. They should be trying to optimise at lower resolutions first and brag about quality mode at these resolutions and then achieve higher frame rates
yeah I've built a pc with an i7-9700k & RTX 2060 with a 1440p monitor but I still choose to play with 1080p because the performance hit every time you bump up that resolution is HUGE and even expensive builds will struggle to max out those settings especiallyyy at 144hz which is honestly a must once you try it

They are doing great work with updates. We get so many cars in Horizon 4 with every updates. I think it will be even better with Forza Horizon 5

I don’t get that I had to make this type of choice on fh4 on my one x , I assumed given the extra power on series consoles it would be quality at 60 or am I missing something
Exactly. Xbox series x ain't as powerful as they try and make it out to be.
Lets not forget photorealism guys they captured a part of mexico using 8k cameras scale down to 4k in game. That takes a lot of processing power, look at it this way, since when has a racing game ever been photorealistic to the point where we cant tell if the sky is real or in game, thats insane, while the xbox series x console is very powerful indeed its not THE most powerful thing out there, abd its not like youre missing out on the photorealism all that much in performance mode i mean in performance mode it looks really really good, theyre just giving you the option of making it even prettier then it already is, the fact this can run, let alone with no loading screens at 240mph with this much detail on screen is insane THATS what you guys are missing here, abd i dont think its very fair of ANY console to be scrutinized because of a choice you had to make years ago with another console, which was the most powerful at the time

Maybe it is the TH-cam compression or something, but I feel like the "Quality Mode" is almost blurrier in some parts, negating the "quality improvements".

Here's a thought, the 30fps mode should automatically uncap in the presence of 120hz VRR.
Chances are it would still run 40fps average.

To me quality mode only looks better when you're completely still (like trying to take photos or something), the 30 FPS is too juttery for me so it actually looks worse than performance mode IMO because in performance mode I can see details much clearer, even if there are fewer of them. The cars do look better in quality mode for sure, especially reflections, but I only play in cockpit view, so I rarely see my car anyway!
