  • My coupe update and first start! Back problems and more. Yes I see the fuel dripping from the fuel pump too. I'll have to solve that in another video as well. It's had Aviation fuel in it for 3 years now so that might be my issue.
    Thanks for watching!

    Hey clint! This is the coolest 32' ive ever seen! Did your dad build it from a real 32 ford body or is it a reproduction? Im thinking about buying a repro body and building something close to this.😎

      Thank you. It's a fiberglass shell with a steel roll cage. Steel radiator, and dashboard though. Steel body's are big bucks. It's got a fully boxed and powder coated steel frame, Ford 9" rear end, Tremec 5 speed, Dart block/heads.

    Put a tarp down, so that moisture from concrete will not cause damage to body

    Just a little "hard learned" tidbit we encountered dealing with a MSD "type" distributor on a newly built SBC motor. After "chasing our tails" for +- 2 months looking for the reason the motor would have such a hard time getting the car moving from a dead stop, we learned that any electronic distributor that uses MSD (Multiple Spark Discharge), in our case a "Pertronix" Flame Thrower, will fool those dial up timing lights. The light will pick one of the three impulses to flash so your timing can be way off. The tech folks tell you to "buy a cheap NON DIAL UP timing light".
    We had "gear" issues also since the car previously had a TH350 and we converted it to a Muncie 4 speed. Putting a "points type" distributor and setting the timing pretty much eliminated the problem. We since have also updated the differential.

      Thanks, I'll look into it. I haven't seen condensation on the car since I put the roof vent in, but it can't hurt.

    Is the body all steel or fibreglass....i prefer a steel body fibreglass tends to crack under heat etc

      Fiberglass shell over steel roll cage. Steel radiator shroud, and dash. Steel body would be nice, but big money. There's good parts on it though, a Ford 9" Rear end, Tremec 5 speed trans, Dart block and heads, roller cam, etc.

    Glad to hear from Dave you got most bugs worked out and it now idles on its own! Post a video of it idling if you can.

      Will do, thanks for the help! Yea, I pulled the front carb off and replaced all the vacuum caps which were all cracked and leaked air when I blew into them. I made another video of my doing that, I just haven't edited it yet. (Maybe I can get it up tonight or tomorrow.)Then my uncle came over and got it to idle. He says the idle is kind of high now, so it's slightly retarded to make it idle once warm. Once I get my distributor back from MSD, we can get it set up for real. I was going to take it for a test drive yesterday, but ran out of daylight. I picked up some fresh gas, and fuel stabilizer too, it sounds like the carbs won't need a rebuild, just some fresh gas run through it. It seems to idle ok now. I tightened up the fuel pump and vacuum lines, so we're good there. I also gave it a wash, the first time the car has ever been washed. Then it's on to dashboard and installing gauges.

      @@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy Great, let me know when the new distributor shows up and we can swap it out. I did adjust the idle speed screw on rear carb (drivers side) to get it to idle when I was there. Need to turn it back down, you will see it on the drivers side.

      So was it the timing too advanced causing it not to idle or the vacuum leaks? Does it shut off now that the timing is more retarded?

    • @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
      @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickkelsch1800 Just saw this comment for some reason. I'm not sure why, actually. I just know I fixed some vacuum leaks and it idled high. It does shut off now and doesn't diesel though. I got the distributor back repaired now. "Pappa Bob" has some interesting comments above about the MSD's btw. I tried to start the coupe yesterday but I think it was flooded, so it didn't start. It ran for a few minutes about a month ago though. Another issue I'm having is the radiator boiling over, so I picked up a new radiator cap, hoping that helps. It's a pretty beefy aluminum radiator so I'm not sure why it's dumping fluid all over after going around the block a couple times. There's an electric fan, that I have on the whole time too.

    Great video!!! Hey question if you don’t mind. One day I want to build a Graffiti coupe, but I’m a big guy, what’s the room like in those? How much leg and width do you have??
    I’ve thought about ordering a fiberglass body and getting it widened and lengthen by 6” in both directions.

      They are tiny inside. I'm 6' 1" and 215lbs, if I'm sitting next to somebody, our elbows rub when I shift. Very tight. Also getting in and out with the chopped top is interesting.

      @Battlewear 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy yea Im bigger then that.. If you say had 8" wider inside, do you think that would make it more comfortable?
