Great video! What are the strategic times when you send the couple the gifts? Is it different for every couple?
Love your work and tips Tyler. This video helped me think about some more things I want to improve. I like the idea of sending a gift before their wedding. Do you have any other tips for communicating to the client during that long 9, 10 month lull from the time you met and booked till their wedding day? I typically will send a follow up about two months out just saying "hey, excited for your wedding soon blah blah".
Thanks so much! Sending the gift is great, and a few follow up emails are also a good idea. We try to follow them on social media (FB or Instagram mostly) and comment on their photos every once in a while. It's just another point of contact! We're also pretty active on social media, so if they're following us hopefully they feel engaged with what we're up to!
This was a really great video. You have so many great ideas. I would love to see your webinar. With the surprise same-day edit, do you set up a table and show it on the iPad? Do you usually work in 2-3 person teams when you shoot weddings? Thanks!
Thanks Luke! I show the bride and groom, and then parents/bridal party etc on the iPad just by going around and letting them hold it. Then I'll set it up on a table somewhere that's already setup. Near the bar is always the best! My wife and I shoot together, so it's always the two of us. I can almost always finish the whole edit during dinner and not miss any of the reception!
How do you put out your same day edits though? on a laptop? a tv?

Thanks! I suggest finding something that aligns with your brand! We send things like a coffee mug with our logo and coffee from a local roaster. Or gift cards to dinner and a movie for them to have one last date night before the big day. It doesn't have to be expensive!

Yep, just on an iPad. I'll pull them aside during a slow part of the reception and just let the two of them hold the iPad. My wife is always with me on the wedding day, so she's available to cover anything in an emergency. I can almost always get the entire thing done during dinner, and since we never shoot during dinner anyway, it's just cutting into my "rest" time haha.

I would be interested in more detail about how you find time to edit the sneek peek and what you edit on in order to quickly edit, then transfer to your iPad. You nailed me at the end when you talked about telling beides two months and it taking longer. I hate it takes me so long.

Idk if I mentioned this in another comment but I would love to see videos on the structure of your business. I also use honeybook and it is a life saver. But how do you structure payments to have continued income each month and so on. I have 9 weddings I am shooting this year and could have had many more but my daughter was born in late May so I said no to everything in May and June. Next year I have 4 booked already. So I am slowly getting there but I would need at least two weddings a month to stay home full time

+i2L Media Thanks for checking out the video! So my goal is to have the whole thing done before dinner ends if possible. I usually just grab the bride and groom during dancing and tell them I have a surprise for them. The key it to do it earlier in the night so they're not having "too much fun" yet. I try to take them to a quiet place so they can hear everything.
Are you just showing it to them on an iPad or laptop? I'm assuming you're not setting up a projector or anything like that? Then you're leaving the iPad out for the other guests to see?
Nope, no projector. I don't want to draw too much attention to it. The projector would require a lot of planning and would interrupt the whole reception, which I wouldn't' want to do without their permission. Once I show the bride and groom, I leave the iPad out on a table somewhere near the bar or DJ...wherever there is a lot of foot traffic.

I was actually visiting during the Cricket World Cup so I spent hours watching and learning all about cricket. One of the South African guys taught me all the rules and strategy so I got super into it. Both are hard to find on TV here but I'll watch them when I can! Thanks for subscribing!!
