Fun fact - If you do nothing in the opening, specifically when Audrey is sitting at her desk. She’ll eventually go “You know what? I don’t need the coffee, I need to work” and then it’ll cut to the credits
It's such a neat detail that if she never went to get coffee. She would have never run into Wilson. And Wilson would continue conquering the Ink Realm. Though I'm sure sooner or later Audrey would run into Wilson eventually but with different circumstances

His child like reaction to meeting little bendy was contagious happiness. Also the only thing missing from that final part was Heidi, that ink girl who also gave the player an ability, and betty, the waitress girl.
Heidi did appear in the end room, but nobody's talking about her. She's sitting on something in the right corner of the room, the same side as the door. Unless I missed Betty, she's the only one missing.
Personally I think my favorite thing about Carly is that people mocked the artist who came up with her. Now Carly is the most powerful, scariest, and most memorable of the butcher gang by leaps and bounds.
i absolutely love how Pastra’s personality with him being so eccentric and positive about his passion with games is completely opposite of what you’d expect for a talented horror artist
you'd be surprised how many artists with creepy artstyles i found that are super nice and caring lol I've been kind of turning into one myself this year
As always, the contrast between 'Giving you a surprisingly interesting lecture' video Pastra, and 'OH MY GOD LOOK AT BENDY MY BOY' stream Pastra is wonderful.
Something I love about the tiny clips from that stream that I find pretty funny is that Pastra has both of his eyes looking in different directions for most of it, while Lyra is looking straight at the camera for the entire time.
The finale is even better when you realize that the Ink Demon is "technically" Joey's son(Not Henry's because Henry didn't make the ink demon, he made Bendy) So the entire finale conversation between the Ink Demon and Audrey is a older bitter brother who was tormented his whole life because he wasn't perfect, talking to his little sister who was perfect in every way he wasn't. All because Joey tormented the Ink Demon because he wasn't perfect. Technically the Ink Demon has never been at fault. It was all Joey. Joey is the true villain, and the Ink Demon is just a confused young boy who wants to make up for his mistakes. Kind of like Wilson in a way. Where Wilson had nothing special and made HIMSELF the villain, but the Ink Demon was special in the wrong way. So much so that he was completely flaud, and tortured. Other's made HIM the villain. When the Ink Demon did nothing wrong...
That's true, even going back to the tape in BATIM which mentions that at first all the Ink Demon would do was roam around the studio, it wasn't really aggressive or anything. Bendy The Ink Demon is a great villain, he was created to embody the cartoon character, but because he was twisted, and horrifying, he was locked away inside the cycle, which probably at the time was nothing but a black void, and then imagine all the year's the years that passed before Joey properly made the cycle of hatred made for Henry. And if you think about it, there's 2 reasons why The Ink Demon would want to kill Henry, because he was the first other being he had ever seen in years, and also when they gi through the loops you can assume it's because you are the one that just restarted everything
@@daranaqelforastero319 You know what's most scary about that? What does that say about human nature? If something is ugly, disfigured, or just weird enough, we isolate it and treat it poorly, then when something is either normal, or weird in a way we find positive, we treat it with more love and respect than we treat ourselves. Then when the thing we neglected for so long turns on us, we see them as the villain, not ourselves
Joey is not desinged to be a villain he is a reformed man,he may done some heinous act but the story itself doesnt view him as a true villain, gent and allen grey is
I think one thing to make note of the Ink Demon's new design/personality is that it doesn't come out of nowhere like "Let's just make him scarier". The writers actually explain it through some audio logs the Keepers made if you were to find them all in Gent. In essence, Bendy looking so beastly is the result of Wilson's failed attempts to kill, control or contain him. Not only did Wilson fail to kill the Ink Demon ("Termination: impossible."), he made him more powerful by unintentionally forcing him to evolve, adding yet another layer to Wilson's lack of talent or knowledge that ultimately led him down a self destructive path.
A good theory, but I have my own theory I'm working on. Basically it is this: because Wilson froze the cycle, this eternal loop meant to torment Henry forever, the Ink Demon evolves just like the world does. Like I imagine that in the cycle, normally the lost ones have very faint memories of their home/where they were, and Bendy himself is just a souless husk that attacks anything with a soul. But the longer the cycle is frozen, the more memories start to emerge and the world changes to create it. And the more the beings within the cycle change as well. Allison tries to reach out to Alice, to get her to come to her senses even mentioning how she worries she'll have to do something she will regret. Lost ones become more human as they stop standing in one spot sad and lost, they begin to become who they used to be before they were converted into ink creatures (the artist lost one wanting his pictures, the lost one being thrown from the butcher shop acting like he was just fired), or create a whole new identity (Porter and Heidi.) And of course, the Ink Demon changes, he's not just a soulless husk who's task is to hunt anything that moves, but he's become a beaten and tortured animal who loathes himself (his whole speech to Audrey of being a "mistake, a monster" these are things he remembers from his creation and until this moment hasn't been able to remember it.) And of course, the longer the cycle stays active, the more things change. In fact... what if the Joey we meet wasn't Joey trying to put himself into the cycle as Pastra theorizes? But enough fragments that came back together to create him?
Carley/The Slicer is how you do a jump scare right. The game doesn't just make you jump when she appears, it makes you dread WHEN she's going to pop up and puts you in a state where you wish she would just appear to get it over with. It makes it feel like she's INTENTIONALLY screwing with you, having fun with her victim before she gets bored and goes for the kill.
@@rainond.cooper2971she actually could if you had really low health and you didn't managed to dodge the attack, she makes a bit of damage, but she wouldn't kill you if you were on full health.
This was most likely not intentional, but as you were talking about how much scarier TDR is compared to BaTIM, a thought came to my mind. What if the reason the original feels so less scary is because we see it from Henry’s POV? Also could explain why he sounds so… not afraid throughout the whole thing. Because he’s done this before and knows what’s going to happen, so it’s not really scary. Audrey on the other hand, has never been in the cycle, so everything is new and horrifying to her. Again, probably just a coincidence, but a cool thing I thought about.
It's a coincidence, like the devs were making the first game's story up as they went along. The reason why Bendy and the Ink Machine isn't as scary as the Dark Revival is probably because it's not that scary.
I like this idea I also like the idea that the reason Bendy is stronger in this one is because when he was awakened with Audrey's powers, he became stronger because /she's/ stronger.
Doesn't it reset each time up until when we, the player play as Henry? Like... I assume from the marks on the walls that hes done it a thousand times, and i don't think hes really aware.
One of the most interesting things about the final battle is how even the damage he deals is in theme, because in case you weren't aware, basically everything can kill you in about 3 or so hits, even the lost ones or butcher gang members. But Wilson's creation, it can barely hurt you, it's a big scary monster, but that's it. Just like wilson, it's all a lie. Great vid as always.
I love Carley’s design and character so much… her cartoon design is super fun and has a lot of personality. And her warped version…. Yeah… nightmare stuff fuel. Plus her creators story was heartbreaking to hear, personally.
I feel like a really cool part of this interpretation of Wilson is the "break the cycle" bit; Joey's success and rise to power was fueled and based on someone else's work and effort, and so was Wilson's. It was Audrey who, in the end, broke the cycle of theft and lies that comprised the 'fame' of these people
I love rewatching Joey’s last words “Just a pencil and a dream! …Isn’t enough. You have to have… heart.” Just shows how much joey learned as he grew older. Just makes his words a lot more impactful right as he’s being crushed and him revisiting his old famous words on how to be a successful person. By far one of the greatest lines I’ve heard in media. Jesus! Most likes I’ve had ever were like 100. Guess a lot of you agree with me.
@@awesomefox555 I mean, it's still true. Even in real life, Walt Disney only developed his animation studio into the massive success that it is today because he was willing to put ALL of his eggs into the animation basket that he was passionate about. The man literally bet his job, company and his home when he decided to make Snow White all those decades ago... and I think it's obvious now that it paid off _tremendously._ To hit the point home further, Disney Studios only began to fall into overworking decadence and scandals when Walt himself become more focused on profit and hierarchy (i.e. the infamous strikes and layoffs of the 40s). Just like how Joey eventually saw his empire fall when he lost sight of the heart that Henry brought to the studio, and only learned for himself about why Henry left the studio for family reasons when Joey had a child of his own, far more valuable than any work of art.
@@mrreyes5004 Having a dream can br a wonderful thing, becoming obsessed with that dream is when things start falling apart. Joey was so obsessed with his dream that he couldn't see the pain he was inflicting on everyone around him.
I love how even Baby Bendy has a bit of an uncanny design, with the sketch lines around his mouth when he smiles. I was on edge around the little guy as much as everyone else. I also knew Baby Bendy and The Ink Demon were one in the same.
One of the most horrifying parts of the game to me is that just by getting up from her chair, Audrey doomed herself to an eternity of torment. Even if The End is played, the Cycle will repeat again, and even if it's rewritten, someone will eventually find a way to bring it back to what it was, because after all, forever is a long time, and someone oughta get bored.
I mean, not really. Audrey is technically immortal, but we also know for a fact that she left the Cycle and returned to the real world with Bendy/Ink Demon. She won't outlive her allies in the Cycle (i.e. Henry, Alison) because they are also immortal ink creatures who don't suffer from age. Even if someone finds a way to bring the Cycle back to what it was, it'll just be rewritten eventually... like you yourself said, forever is a long time and someone will inevitably be bored of it being what is always was.
Actually Audrey did leave the Cycle, the only reason she returns to the room where it all started it's because of the whole loop deal, but she's not repeating it, or else Bendy wouldn't be there which by the way, I wish someone has a theory on whether he is the Ink Demon now being passive, or being cartoon Bendy now separated from The Ink Demon
One thing with Wilson's motivation. I don't think he intended to let the ink creatures Live. His Convo on the train heavily indicates his true plot was to wipe out the Ink realm and replace them with his own creations Your character analysis on Wilson was great though.
I think he just wanted to add his own creatures to the Cycle and make it literally more "colourful", although he did experimented on Lost Ones with iridescent ink which seems to make them more weak, since you can kill 'em with a single hit, so I'm not sure.
@@TheChildoftheDarkness I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Lost Ones during Wilson's "boss" battle were able to be killed in one hit, rather than three because he added that colourful liquid to them :D
What I love most about this game is that despite being a horror game, it has so much heart. BATDR has the balls to actually give you a semi-happy ending - many horror games seem to feel that they aren't scary enough if they don't end in torment and misery. BATDR, on the other hand, treats its characters as characters, not merely as vessels for torture and pain. And what I adore most of all is its final message. BATDR isn't about good and evil - it's about artistic integrity. Its final verdict on its characters is incredibly wholesome: Alice is crazy and narcissistic, and that's OK. Sammy is a Bendy-obsessed psycho, and that's OK. The Lost Ones are depressive nutjobs, and that's OK. Bendy is a creature of utmost evil that corrupts those around it, and that's OK. Because they're all integral and necessary to their own story. The only thing that is not OK is Wilson. Because Wilson interferes with Bendy's world, not to create art, but to establish himself as some kind of saviour. His own character Dudley isn't a product of artistic integrity, but of greed and envy. He tampers with the nature of Bendy's story without really understanding it. In a way, it's a metaphor for corporate greed plunging its hands into a passionate, original work of art and turning it into mass produce and profit. In the end, Audrey learns what Wilson and even Joey Drew failed to do - to accept the ink machine's twisted world for what it is. To recognise its merit and learn to appreciate it with all its flaws. She brings artistic integrity back into Bendy's world by becoming part of it and working to make it a more peaceful place.
I agree! Batdr was shockingly somewhat wholesome for a horror game. It has an actual overall theme, and it doesn’t feel empty like most horror games nowadays. Like, it’s not just there for scares, but to teach a lesson through its characters and story.

@@Joey-vs4fr It seems you and I have very different ideas on what "romantic jealousy" looks like. I could be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Pastra made a tweet in the past about making such jokes about them and their friends. Please be respectful and realize that content creators are not your little dolls for entertainment, but living human people with thoughts, feelings, and opinions.
Fantastic video Pastra. I would like to partially disagree on the analysis of the Ink Demon’s final monologue though. It was more than just projection, it was the Ink Demon’s twisted form of empathy, while also serving as a demand for validation. Nothing he says in that scene is a lie or even that inaccurate. Audrey’s road was very much broken, she had no legs and was probably like a few minutes away from dying. She had believed herself human all her life, only to discover she was born from the same ink that made the Cycle’s hellscape. Thus, “her very existence was a terrible lie.” While calling her a monster and a mistake was mainly the Ink Demon echoing what Joey had once called him, it’s worth pointing out that he probably full believes it’s true for both of them, because Audrey IS just like the Ink Demon. She is a soulless creature Joey Drew made using the ink machine. That’s why he’s so obsessed with Audrey willingly merging with him. The Ink Demon completely internalized the label of a demon after being tortured all that time, so the idea that he suffered for NOTHING all this time causes a sort of cognitive dissonance. He needs to prove that Audrey is a monster like him, because otherwise everything the Ink Demon has done would effectively be meaningless. He would have nothing left, nothing to define him. He can’t be Bendy, Joey already drove that point home. So he must be a monster, right? And so, Audrey must be a monster too. To the Ink Demon, his offer at the end of the game is genuinely meant to comfort Audrey, prove she isn’t alone in her grief, that they can be strong together and take revenge on those that harmed them. This is important for the ending, because it signifies that Audrey did what Joey failed to do by allowing the Ink Demon to *choose* who he wants to be, allowing him to reclaim the Bendy identity he had abandoned after Joey rejected him.
Bendys monologue strikes me more as manipulation. For some reason he wants Audrey to merge with him, and I assume the merging can only happen willingly. So he demoralizes her, manipulates her emotions and worldview to feel that there is no road other than merging with him.
I think the best part about Carly's mechanics is, the fact that you could completely skip over her introduction. Not even activate her, and game play would still go on normally, but with the way she's presented, it draws people into the mistake of meeting her, and then she certainly lets the player know that opening her box was a mistake. Edit: I love Pastra's reaction to Joey showing up! Just the " What the- WHA HUH??? JOEY???" was pure gold XD
Wilson might be evil but damn Pastra really tore him apart The amount of hard cutting insults in the span of just around 2 minutes was intense If Pastra was wrong about him having an inferiority complex he certainly made it true with that take down
Seeing how Pastra is an artist, I can see where he’s coming from and why tore into him For example, nowadays there are a bunch of Wilsons out there, AI “artists” are the IRL Wilsons They call themselves creators despite not creating anything since the machine just takes and steals from others, saying artists will be replaced despite the machine being flawed and needing real artists work And, of course, being bitter, angry and jealous of real artists because, deep down, they know they’ll never be recognized, taken seriously and be real artists
Especially since Wilson didn't do anything WRONG in his situation He found out about the loop He wanted to break it There's countless other things he could've done but he chose the most roundabout way
Okay but the fact that Audrey gave Bendy more compassion than her father ever did despite him creating the both of them is making me emotional. Like Audrey ends up with Smol Bendy as if he’s a younger sibling to take care of, despite she’s technically older, but he never got to be that kid until now 🥺
Literally the only thing I would wish they had in the game is an actual conversation between Bendy and Henry. Like, the Ink Demon couldn't talk in the first game, but now he evolved to be able to speak and he clearly harbors pain and trauma from being abandoned by his creators. Even though Henry turning around and running from the Ink Demon in BATIM'S Ch-1 is one of the most important scenes in the franchise, it's never elaborated upon for some reason. The finale could've been made even better if Henry and the Ink Demon had their own confrontation, where Henry fully affirms that he knows that the little devil darling that he created more than 30 years ago is still somewhere in that monstrous body and that he believes that the Ink Demon can choose to be more than a rage-fueled abomination. It could be a mirrored version of the final scene between Memory!Joey and Audrey, with Bendy finally choosing the let Audrey show him The End and giving himself a chance.
Something that adds to Wilson's character is that He caused Nathan Arch to own bendy. If I remember correctly, there's a line early in the game from Nathan which says, 'my son suggested movies!' Or something to that effect, which means he... caused everything, even unknowingly.
Yeah, Wilson suggested that Nathan start a movie studio. Nathan was inspired by that idea to create a cartoon studio, so he bought the rights to Joey Drew's characters, workshop equipment, and IP, kickstarting the events of The Dark Revival.
Now that the sequel to this series has been released, I think it’s clear that this game is a love letter (design-wise) to the Bioshock and Epic Mickey games. The hallways of the studio are very similar to the tunnels in the underwater city of Rapture, the music being an ominous loop of songs from the 1930’s and 40’s, and more direct references being the audio logs we find and Joey Drew acting in a similar way to Andrew Ryan. (Oh and the cartoon city window in Dark Revival REALLY being a reference to the opening of Bioshock.) In relation to Epic Mickey, I think the toon style art direction is very similar, and the story revolving around former cartoon studio creations gone horribly wrong. I’m actually pleased to see these elements being used in a game! I grew up with those titles and enjoying the environments and best of all, the horror and scary elements. I hope the next generation appreciates it.
Oh yeah. When I was watching SuperHorrorbro's playthrough of The dark Revival, I had Bioshock on the brain because I had just finished playing all three for the first time a few months ago(Yeah, Yeah, I'm late. The second was my favorite btw) Anyway, while watching the videos I was thinking "all of this is giving me strong Bioshock vibes" (more Bioshocks 1 and 2 with the tight Rapture hallways and the audio logs than Infinite with the wide open spaces)
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE MENTIONS EPIC MICKEY WHEN TALKING ABOUT THIS GAME! Ever since i first saw this game it reminded me of epic mickey, like if the creators of that took it as far as they could to create a true horror experience, but so far, i have never found anyone bring it up.. FINALLY I FEEL VINDICATED AT LAST
The significance of projection in this franchise, both literal and metaphorical, is very poetic. It seems like the writers might have been doing some projecting of their own when they made it. There are some strong parallels between the in-game story and the actual development process, even in the sequel. Mike Mood had created a cycle of his own, repeatedly tarnishing his and TheMeatly's creations; in the end he just had to leave it alone, and allow their world grow into something truly beatuiful.
Part of me wonders if Joey’s pseudo-redemption in this game is at least partially because theMeatly wanted to disassociate the character from the memes about Mike Mood being an IRL Joey Drew.
@@theoverlord3937 It's also the fact that the Drew in the Dark revival is simply a memory of Joey's best times; his lasting legacy. That's exactly what this game is for Mike. He may not be personally involved anymore, but his impact on the project, for better or for worse, will always be remembered and appreciated.
One detail i really liked about carley part was that if you just completely ignore the "come say hello" sign and dont get her out of the box, you can beat the game without facing her.
I actually missed the sign all together but I watched someone else play the game and let her out so I replayed the game to see if I could beat it with her. She definitely adds more of a challenge lol she scared me so much.😂😅
26:03 my favorite part about Carly is realizing after you've been terrorized by her all game that if you just never opened the box, you wouldn't have had to deal with her 😩
The one thing I missed from the original game is that you can't see the Ink Demon all that much when he begins hunting you. It's so intense to see this tall slender monster who is still trying to keep the Bendy design but still definitely a demon. A limping corpse with a horrid smile just brushing pass by your little miracle station. Edit: this is not me hating on the Ink Demon's new design. I absolutely love it, I just wish we could actually see him roam around the areas more. Or at least when we were in Miracle Stations. I just want to see a lurking demon, literally crawling around the environments and even checking in hiding places for you. If anything I kind of wish there was a bit both, having the original form come back as a transition form from Ink Demon to Bendy and vice versa. Seeing the cartoon baby slowly get larger and dropping more and more of it's original features for more horror.
Yeah I agree, the ink demons overhaul is the only thing I think dark revival downgraded. The silent slim cartoon like demon is way more unsettling and creepy than a giant demon that can talk to the player
@@tingofingo1348 Maybe, but I think that the choice to give the Ink Demon a voice and a personality far outweighs that. In the first game, the Ink Demon was just a mindless beast who had no real character, just a one-dimensional living obstacle. Boring. But here, the devs actually gave him a proper motivation and in-depth character far more than merely a mysterious monster (which was discussed by Pastra here -> 1:04:40).
@@mrreyes5004 yeah and for the story of dark revival that works, I actually understand the change, but I disagree that the old bendy was “boring”. The new one feels far more cliched and boring to me if I’m being honest. I’ve always been more of a fan of the mindless monsters who you can’t understand, I think it provides more horror*. But for the story of dark revival it is true that bendy’s overhaul was necessary for the plot
Something I really like about the dialogues on the ending is that, in Joey´s final dialogue "Just a pencil and a dream... Isn´t enough. You have to have... heart" is a line that really hurts the Ink Demon because he had always have a heart, damn he´s heart beat is one of his main characteristic being an alert signal to know when he is near, and one of the most iconic sound effects of the Demon and Joey telling him that he could have been something good and beautiful even without a soul of his own (which was the reason they though the Ink Demon was a failure, but at the end we see it wasn´t) like we see with Audrey and with him actually achieving this in his "contained" form, is something that truly piss him off. Because if he had received the loved and compassion Audrey received from the world and their father Joey Drew, he might have become the Bendy he was supposed to be and not the monster and demon he actually became. And that´s also why he killed Joey with so much hatred and wanted to make Audrey part of him because; consuming Audrey would mean that no matter how you were treated, if you are born from the ink you are destined to be a monster like the Ink Demon and that Joey was only capable of making monsters like him, something that gave him confort. And killing Joey the way he did just recemblen how much the Demon hated that his father, how he hated Joey Drew for giving Audrey all the love that he never got and all that compassion that was stolen from him by his creator.

The Metroidvania-esque world design made the game feel so much bigger! You can walk from the very end of the game all the way back to the beginning and nothing's closed off. It was really refreshing after the first game only let you explore one area at a time
BATDR always felt like a weird hybrid between the original and bioshock to me. The somewhat more realistic atmosphere combined with the "grundge" that it has gives off a much stronger feeling of a place that's been abandoned by everyone. This, combined with the protagonist having a few mystical ways to deal with monsters gave off so many vibes akin to how I felt when I played bioshock 1 for the first time. Its even better that the keepers would not feel out of place in Bioshock, just as a lot of the inhuman enemies from that game would fit well in Bendy if given a new coat of paint (or Ink if you prefer.)
I really like how they handled the whole Jekyll and Hyde thing with Bendy in this game. See, a lot other games with this trope of your best buddy and worst enemy being two sides of the same coin have at least some sort of heartwarming and/or gut-wrenching "they're still in there" moment. Something like if the Ink Demon had Audrey cornered and about to kill her, but suddenly "remembered all the good times" for a moment and held himself back. This isn't a bad trope at all, mind you, and it's great for the feels. But honey, this is a _horror_ game, a _Bendy_ game no less. The only "feels" here are despair and terror. What makes it work so good in this it's that it's a TRUE Jekyll and Hyde scenario where neither side ever bleeds into the other. Ink Demon is not Lil' Bendy going berserk. Lil' Bendy is not Ink Demon made friendly. For all intents and purposes, they are two completely separate people. It really is as if BATIM Ink Bendy's "cartoon demon" form was split in half: the "cartoon" side becoming Lil Bendy, and the "demon" side becoming BATDR Ink Demon. Wilson may have lied about killing Bendy, but maybe there was some truth to when he said he "tore the Ink Demon in two." What's even more neat is once this is revealed, you now by proxy have an emotional attachment to the Ink Demon. Soon after, you can't help but be at least a little upset hearing that the Keepers tortured Ink Demon as well as Lil' Bendy. The game makes you gaslight yourself into thinking you and Ink Demon are somehow on even slightly better terms, which it even more explicitly enables in Chapter 5 when the Ink Demon talks to Audrey _without_ threatening her, even warning her of Wilson's lies and calling him out for torturing him. I kid you not, when I was watching Pastra's stream and saw him show up to finish off Shipahoy Wilson, I said "Please be friendly" out loud. But no. This thing does not love you back in the slightest. He does not secretly want to be your friend as Lil' Bendy. Hell, he's not even thankful that you freed him _from_ Lil' Bendy. He is THE Ink Demon. As fun as it would have been, it honestly might have really downplayed just how damn intimidating they made Ink Bendy in this game if his monstrous form showed even the possibility of being "tamable". (except ignore everything I juST SAID YOU ACTUALLY DO SORTA HAPPEN IN A DIFFERENT WAY THEY PULL A FREAKING SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY AND IT THE COOLEST FREAKING THING THE WORLD) ...That's what I was planning to comment on going into this, and then I got to the end of the video. I did notice Ink Bendy's projection, but I didn't really get a chance to think about it too much with all that craziness that was going on. They way you went into just _how much_ he was projecting onto someone he shares almost _nothing_ in common with was way more eye opening than I expected. In his effort to bring Audrey as low as possible, he says the most hurtful and painful things he can think of. And I mean, no wonder he's so laser-focused on Audrey; in a way, she's exactly what he was SUPPOSED to be: Joey's greatest creation, spawned directly from the Ink Machine (which begs the question of why she has a soul when Bendy didn't, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms, especially when you factor in a certain note from Joey that Pastra missed in his playthrough. You genuinely made me start questioning just _how_ "split" Bendy's split personality actually is. I mean, the Ink Demon mimicking the same friendly gesture Audrey greeted Lil' Bendy with is proof enough that he IS by some means aware of what Lil' Bendy gets up to, and Lil' Bendy is known to possess similar powers to his Ink Demon self, like phasing through walls and being unkillable. After freeing the Ink Demon, he seems to switch back and forth somewhat frequently, showing up as Lil Bendy a few times, but once you actually see the transformation, Lil' Bendy, who's our friend by that point, doesn't really even look at us and just walks away in shame, never revealing himself to us in that form again once we know the truth, perhaps thinking there's no way we'd still wanna be friends (he's wrong fyi). If the Ink Demon was able to be turned into something/someone like Lil' Bendy, that would likely mean it'd had to have been a part of him. The way they made Ink Bendy from this unthinking entity of malice and rage to an actualy character with so much potential nuance is astonishing. God this game, man. It answers so much and still leaves you so much more to think about, and it's simply amazing.
I quite agree with this analysis. During the game's development, I was worried that the devs would just keep the Ink Demon as a personality-less rage monster. But then BATDR came around and actually gave him a nuanced character with serious developmental potential. As you said, the Ink Demon's laser-focused hatred for Audrey makes sense: he is essentially jealous of how she was born "perfect" while he was abandoned as a "mistake".
I personally think that in BATIM, he was a character who was just very spiteful. He had grown accustomed to sadness and anger and henceforth nearly couldn't feel anything positive. However, he was not pure evil because whereas BATDR ink demon is always shown as a fearless demon fueled by anger, BATIM bendy was shown to, during the projectionist scene, display mercy and did actually panic, displaying fear, when the END was played. Tl;dr In BATIM, he is a satanic Grinch In BATDR, he is liquid dalek
@@jeanremi8384 I would go even further and theorize that the Ink Demon in BATDR is a natural evolution of how he was back in BATIM. In the first game, Ink Bendy was basically a husk full of rage and fear, with only slight traces of human-like intelligence. In the second game, however, the added time as well as Wilson's experiments caused Bendy to forcibly grow in intelligence and in other emotions (whereas before he only had small traces of them). In BATIM, he was pretty much an abused child lashing out at everything around him. By the time BATDR happens, he's more like a teen who has become smarter (which is why he can talk now), but it also means that he can show more sides of him that he couldn't possess/display back then. This is why his normal monster form is bigger and stronger than his design in BATIM, because Ink Bendy grew up in the same way that little simple-minded kids grow up into more complex adults. And it's why he can now turn into little Bendy who represents the child-like fear, sadness and curiosity that lies underneath his monstrous exterior. The Little Bendy form of BATDR's Ink Demon basically embodies the mercy and deeper emotions that the BATIM Ink Demon only had bits and traces of without the same anger, while the base monster Ink Bendy form of BATDR's Ink Demon represents the same rage and power of the BATIM Ink Demon except now with added intelligence and maturity. People in real-life have different sides of their complex personality, so BATDR Ink Demon having two forms that embody the different parts of him perfectly represents how much he grew from his BATIM self.
Given the entire ending sequence, I feel like a major message to take away from it is... that the player is a part of the series' legacy. You are what gives Bendy power, but you are the ones who control him in the process. And if that power inspires you, you can take everything you like from it, and create something truly astounding.
I’d recommend Super Eyepatch Wolf, his whole channel is dedicated to stuff he loves, and even if you don’t care or even know the topic, his passion for the subject is unparalleled.
One thing that stuck out to me when Pastra was talking about Wilson's motivations, was how they seemed to mirror Joey Drew's motivations in the original game. While Joey Drew definitely is a very good idea's man, in the original game it there was a story of Henry's creations always being the ones that got praised. While Joey is left behind and the company falls to ruin after Henry left.
39:00 that is one of the most wholesome and beautiful interactions I have ever seen, and you can bet I also immediately feel that we need to protect him from everything oh my god this is just so lovely
sure its graphicly better but i think the original is better in my eyes, there's no overpowered mechanic or anything like that. just a simple looped game while audrey is like "haha i can control literally anything im basically god" which kinda takes away the "horror" element
Probably is the best horror game this year cause like what else came out this year for horror? Edit: I have since played Signalis. That beats this by a landslide. Go play it.
You didn't mention this, but there's a post-credit scene showing the Ink Machine (and the items needed to activate it) getting loaded onto a Gent Corporations delivery truck in the middle of the night and then being taken away somewhere. This is probably hinting that there's a 3rd game in the works, probably featuring Gent as the main villains and that they want to use the Ink Machine for some unknown purpose.
Outside of bendy, the slicer has to be my favorite horror monster. Not only does it attack at random, is unkillable, and unpredictable, she’s my favorite cause she’s completely optional. It was fun watching people’s playthroughs, then they reach that moment and open the box out of curiousity, and i inew this was gonna be a fun watch. She is basically the embodiment of “curiousity killed the cat” if she was the curiousity, and you the cat. She is a punishment for looking into something that you shouldn’t. The whole game has you believe to check everything that you can interact with, and actually lulls you into a false sense of security. You had no reasons at that point to be cautious, as every locker and trashcan helped you, so you’d thinkmthe same for the crate, not knowing that you’ve just unleashed one of your worse enemies. In a way, it teaches you to not fully trust in everything, as you might make your situation worse. I love subversions like these. Especially when they have long-term effects, even if you were unaware. After all, a good horror game makes you afraid of even the things you thought were safe.
I think that is a very similar mechanic to the 'silent spider splicers' in BioShock. Basically if you go looking around in the Fort Frolic level you find a room that contains a weapon upgrade and a ton of these plastered figures (that curiously bleed when struck). If you follow through and get to the upgrade the lights flicker and one of the figures attacks you immediately. And from that point on these fuckers are gonna be all around the level. They act like regular spider splicers, climbing up the walls and throwing hooks at ya, but with one key difference. They are completely silent. Other splicers have dialogue options so you can tell where they are but these plastered splicers are silent making them much harder to deal with. They freaked me out when I first played the game and the upgrade was only semi worth the hassle honestly.
That revival do be dark, though. In all seriousness, it overjoys me that not only is BATDR finally here, but it's also leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor. It was a long three years, but it sure as heck was worth it. And honestly, Pastra's enthusiasm and love for this franchise makes the experience even more enjoyable personally. Sure is good to be a Bendy fan.
I want Pastra to do concept art for a horror game. Their style would be amazing in reviving game series's like FNAF, where the horror aspect has more-or-less been ignored
fun fact boris shows up a few times, just barely seen, once at the beginning for 3 seconds. and later at the factory, crawling in an opposing vent, he is easily missed. also we know its not tom because tom has a "robotic" arm. boris doesn't have this
Dark Revival gave me MASSIVE Bioshock vibes and I mean that in the best way possible. I think it's exactly the direction this series needs to go in. I'm so excited to see what comes next for the series.
Well from what I have heard, one of theMeatly’s favorite games is Bioshock so I guess he took inspiration from it for this game. I’m not complaining about that because from what I have seen of this game, this game makes Bioshock look like a chump
Yeah, the Bioshock inspiration is very obvious. The Ink Machine's world, in this game especially, has a very similar vibe to Rapture, just sepia-toned studio instead of underwater "utopia". It's quite fascinating, and it definitely seems to *work* quite well.
In a way, I feel like BATDR is to BATIM as Portal 2 is to Portal 1. A direct improvement that enriches the whole world, expands on the lore, gives a much more abundant gameplay experience, while still keeping the original in mind as the base to build up on. Considering that the creators are fans of Portal series (even referencing the Companion Cube in BATIM), this is not a surprising parallel to draw. They really did it right.
If I had a nickel for every time an old and famous indie game got a sequel in 2022 that fixes practically everything, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice
Am I the only one that really loves how the Bendy games also establish such different integral atmospheres? the original game gives the feeling of a chaotic world, forced together and constantly breaking and remaking itself- an unstable, feral mess of a world, just like what Joey intended to create- a hell. The original world was chaotic, it was a living, breathing catastrophe. And then Dark Revival comes in. DR's version of The Studio is seen as much more organized, with established lore, titles, characters, places strung together in a mostly coherent manner. It's a much, much more organized way of life for those in The Studio, as if The Studio and everyone in it has evolved into something more civilized. But it still keeps that feeling that everything is falling apart, but it feels like someone's just taking it apart instead.
The fact that everything Pastra said at the end was said at the beginning really makes it a "cycle" It really shows how much effort in even the little things he put in this video
Don't mind me, just putting my favourite parts of this video- 16:10 - 16:18 - About Alice and her new design 25:15 - 29:29 - About the new member of the Butcher Gang, Carly (Carlie? Carli?). 38:38 - 40:11 - About Little Bendy. 42:09 - 42:19 - About Joey Drew. 58:08 - 58:22 - About Alice... AGAIN. 1:08:32 - 1:08:41 - “SAMMY JUST GOT FUCKING SHOT”. 1:09:34 - 1:09:57 - About the end.
Sammy was simultaneously my favorite and least favorite character from BATIM. It was weird seeing him die and being like "Fuck yes, that's what you get!" And " HOLY FUCK SAMMY JUST DIED!"
the fact that after so many years Bendy could come back with such flying color (so to speak) is really cool to see, I really have enjoyed watching the game series grow since 2017.
Honestly my interpretation of the original bendy is as a creation of the ink he was unsure if he’s a cartoon or a monster shambling around the studio angry and soulless. Until the very end of the game leading into BATDR where he fully embodies the demonic and monstrous side of himself and starts rampaging and terrorizing the people of the cycle. Willson can only contain the beast while when Audrey comes into the picture she is the only person who can turn bendy into what he was truly meant to be that little devil darling we all loved from the cartoons.
I do feel really bad for Henry. The real one is probably fine, but the one we know is so defeated and broken in the new game. Remember those Henry Stein logs that were released before chapter 5?... This poor guy has gone through the loops so much he could barely remember his name. Not mention he found out he wasn't real...
There is something kinda funny about the fact that there is a totally normal Henry out in the real world just living life without knowing he has a fake clone that was in a fanfic hell loop. Henry: “Cycle? Ink clone? Parallel worlds!? Audrey wtf are you talking about, I just came by to say hi. Also when did you have a kid and why is he dressed like that?”
Does anyone beside me reasonably believes that the Henry that we played as in BATIM and the Henry we encounter in The Pit and, later, in the end of BATDR was, in fact, the real Henry all along?
@@TheChildoftheDarkness Joey in dark Revival says that the real Joey made a fake Henry to torture on loop. But the idea that this is the real one and a fake ink version of Henry is in the real world is kinda interesting.
@@strelitziamystery21 I just have a theory, A GAME THEORY. But I'm kinda too shy to share it. But I'll say that first of all is that both Henry's are in the Cycle.
The Thing I like about BATDR is how much improvement they made to the Ink Demon in this game. Seriously, every time he appears, you get this sense of panic in you because you can't see him coming. Plus the model just looks way more better then how he looked in the original game. He looks more like an actual demon, when you get a good look at him in cutscenes. How I see his redesign is more on how Christianity has described demons to be. For example, normally in western media today, we normally know what a typical demon looks like. A person that had red skin along with very long black horns. But with demons in Christianity around the 18th century, demons along with Satan himself were originally described as goats that Witches would offer sacrifices or offerings. And ironically enough, Bendy is shown to have Goat like hooves as feet. Kinda like how Demons and Satan himself were originally portrayed as in Christianity before the modern era. Which is a pretty interesting detail not going to lie. Who knows. Maybe in the next Bendy game revolving around the cycle in the future, maybe we could get a group of people that are witches that always warships the Ink Demon (kinda like Sammy) and always without fail, offer sacrifices or offerings to him as a way make him happy. By the way, if you guys are just trying to look for the source of this piece of information I got from Christianity , then I recommend you look at something called "Animals of Evil". Where it shows an Oil painting made in the 18 century around Europe that describes a type of gathering of people being called witches that would offer sacrifices or offerings to Satan himself. It's genuinely interesting, I recommended it. Edit: Also I love the fourth member of the Butcher Gang. Carley. She is genuinely kinda like a troll within the Bendy franchise. No really, I'm being serious here. She is just like a troll, that loves to freak people out, just because she can. Carley, you are my favorite member of the Butcher Gang. Carley, lets mess with Pastra together. Shall we? :)
I really like the way you dug into this game,it made me appreciate a lot of different little details I didn't pick up on the first time, and also just clearing up the plot was one of the most satisfying things. This game is a miracle 9/10
I have always been confused at Wilson being very angry at his Father. But now knowing that Bendy mainly represents his Father makes a ton more sense. No wonder he's been torturing the Ink Demon. He's even been torturing poor Bendy too :c
It's honestly also fitting, because the Ink Demon can oddly _relate_ to Wilson because the Ink Demon has reasons to hate both Henry AND Joey who were his own creators, the same way Wilson hated his father. The Ink Demon and Wilson are also neat Foils to each other as characters; Wilson was a pathetic and envious rat who tried to make himself out to be a glorious hero, while Bendy was a genuine good guy cartoon who was abused into monstrosity.
@@hollowwoods7130 True, but a large number of people have theorized that when the Ink Demon lunged through the boarded-up wall at Henry in Chapter 1 of BATIM, he wasn't actually trying to attack Henry; he was actually just trying to reach out to him from behind the boards. Henry obviously ran away, and the Ink Demon interpreted that to mean that another of his creators abandoned him because he wasn't created perfectly. Of course, Henry didn't know about anything Joey was doing and Henry didn't mean anything by it (bc the Ink Demon IS terrifying to look at). But even without that earlier incident, the Ink Demon probably also despised Henry for abandoning the studio 30 years before because that meant Henry wasn't around to stop his cartoon creations (ie. Bendy) from being abused and experimented on by Joey and Gent Corporation. I'm not saying Henry is any kind of villain, because he had no way of knowing that Joey would go on to perform such atrocities. But from the Ink Demon's perspective, it looked like his true creator/father left him behind to be experimented on and locked up by greedy false-creators just because he didn't look exactly like the original cartoon that Henry made. The Ink Demon was so pained and isolated that he was inevitably going to lump Henry in with Joey and other people who screwed the Ink Demon over due to Henry being his actual creator (AKA the indirect cause of the Ink Demon's suffering as a failed copy).
@@mrreyes5004 No. There's a hidden tape recorded by Wilson that implies that he isn't all that talentless and worthless as Pastra says (damn he mocked him). And if you'd read "The Lost Ones" you'd know that the Ink Demon was always MEANT to be a failure, that didn't realize its true nature and purpose yet, but by the games's events, starting with BATDS, it did.
Can I just say, your videos have the upmost quality on TH-cam nowadays. I just discovered you in recent months and I highly consider you one of the most naturally talented TH-camr I’ve ever seen
Something I noticed in Chapter 0 (Real world part, Piper encounter, Allison encounter, ect) is that it has a small reference to something that happens in Chapter 5 of the original game. When we first meet Allison, she holds Audrey's arm for a few seconds before quickly taking her hand off it and saying "Don't touch me!". This IMMEDIATELY called me back to the finale of Bendy and the Ink Machine, where Allison and Tom couldn't go with Henry into the ink machine because, as she says, "A drop of water in the ocean is rarely seen again". Edit: Nevermind, I think Audrey said that, still a fun thought though.
Your enthusiasm and passion are pandemically infectious. I have to thank you for that. After your retrospective on Batim, it reignited my enjoyment of the franchise and fandom and really heightened my experience of Batdr, more than I ever predicted. But furthermore, your joy is so contagious that my first thought upon seeing this video was "Oh, thank god, they loved it!" And it really made my day just basking in the second hand delight that you express with the game's release. Your passion and love for horror make it a joy to watch all your videos and your artwork is an inspiration to my own interest in macabre work. Please keep using your talents for the videos you do. It'll be my pleasure to keep following your work .
The optimism and positivity is always so insanely intoxicating, thank you for creating this wonderful video. Sure, you recognize that the game has flaws, like any game, but you're approach to just enjoy it to the fullest anyway is so positively amazing. As much as I'm no big Bendy fan (only watching playthroughs up to around chapter 3, partly because of how slow they released 😅), I was so engaged and invested in this passionate rant about a game made for people just like you. I can imagine being a dev of this game, watching this video, and just having the biggest, stupidest grin plastered on my face knowing that I succeeded in exactly what I wanted to help accomplish, working so hard to make an experience for someone to absolutely love
Pastra going "LITTLE BENDY" "LITTLE GUY!!" has so much excitement it's a whole new person and I can't stop laughing Update: being followed with "I WOULD KILL FOR HIM" is _also_ a totally new person and I'm concerned lmaooo
I think one of my favorite little details is that when you sit there long enough, you can start to hear the music a lot better, more loudly. I’m a chronic hider, no matter what, I’ll always manage to hide in a box or locker for far too long (like, for minutes) and I’m not sure if this is something meant to happen, or if my brain fabricated it, but the longer I’d wait in a hiding place, the louder the music became, making the atmosphere a bit more panic inducing. It’s like the game is telling you to move on already, that the longer you wait, the more likely it is you’re gonna regret it. I do hope that this isn’t just something my brain put together itself, because it’s such a cool idea. It goes along with Alison telling you in the beginning to not stick around one spot for too long, as well as, well, the longer you stick around in one area, the Ink Demon’s gonna spawn there at any moment.
I've been delayed on completing the game for far too long, but after beating it finally, I can watch this video. You definitely outdid yourself on this one. Everything you said here was exactly what I thought during my playthrough. I especially loved your analysis on the Ink Demon's interaction with Audrey at the end. Fantastic work Pastra!
I think the best part about the part where the end was played, was the fact it was played on the projectionist’s head, probably giving the projectionist his revenge, kinda like “did ya miss me, bendy?”
The story of the ink demon is so good. I love when characters, even villains, have deep backstories that explain why they feel that way. But I especially love how the game presents it. You will miss it if you aren’t careful, and you’ll misunderstand what the ink demon represents. He represents joey’s mistakes and greed before he met Alison, and Audrey represents his development as a character and how he grew as a person. It’s amazing I love it so much
Oh my God, I wish I could be as positive as you are. This game was everything I could've hoped for AND MORE! I personally love how the Ink Demon works now. I always felt like his encounters in Ink Machine were so long cause of how slow he moved. Having his encounters last for not even 10 seconds is such an improvement. Plus, his warning stinger always makes me jump. Also, pro tip: If you're unsure when he'll show up, listen for his growl. Depending on where you heard the growl, going back to that area and staying out in the open for too long will trigger an attack. I dunno, I found that out on my own, and thought it was a neat and useful tip. You brought points about this game that I didn't know about, which made me appreciate it even more. Was well worth the long ass wait. Can't wait to see what the devs make next for this amazing franchise.
The bendy franchise will always have a crescent-shaped hole in my heart the team really knew what they were doing (there's also a Wilhelm scream when Sammy falls)
Also, The searchers are considered the one creature that might be directly controlled by the ink demon. And one thing that they are said to lack, is legs. Before audrey makes the deal with the devil. She lacks her own legs.
your persona character is so perfect i love it, the expression and the artistic rubberhose actions it can perform, it's also adorable whilest having a spooky vibe, and your video quality is so flawless, keep up the good work
Alice was brought back to us just to get stabbed again😔 Its nice to get that send off though. I have a lot of theories that Alice/Susie's backstory is way more tragic than at seems and this was indeed a bittersweet scene for bestest angel
Recently, my mother rejected me as not her son. I bet watching this video will cheer me up. Thanks Pastra, you might not see this, but typing this helps with it.
I’m so sorry, it sucks that this happens to people. I really hope it gets better for you soon. Just know that you aren’t alone, there will always be people who will support you!
My favorite moment related to this game was during Ranboo's stream. They basically spend the first hour or whatever being like "I just want a little Bendy plush following me around everywhere and he'd be so cute and I'd love him so much." And they're going down some stairs going on another rant about it, start walking backwards down the stairs to demonstrate the ideal height for the Bendy plush, and turn around to see *EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT IN THE NEXT ROOM.* The time is 1:24:47 in the VOD on the RanbooVODs channel by the way. The moment is absolutely magical.
i will never forget the amount of screams this mans let out in that game, it was pure joy just burst out, especially when baby bendy was first seen that whole scene was made so much better by pastra literally melting away into a puddle
40:03 Remind me to never mess with Pastra's son.... nevertheless seeing a fellow Bendy fan is heartwarming. This fanchise was the reason I became an artist and I definitely feel like BATDR really gave BATIM justice. I love your energy and your detailed analysis of BATDR so very great!
Watching this video again reminded me of how much I absolutely love this series, it’s not just my favorite horror franchise, it’s my favorite franchise period, I have so much connected with this franchise and, even though this video is a year old and I watched it not too long after it came out, thank you Pastra for making this video. Also I don’t know why, but I LOVE Carley and The Slicer, IDK there’s just something about her that I REALLY like.
52:27, that little fright is what probably extended that 5 minute break from 4 to 5 minutes Edit: also as the projectionist is my favorite character in BatIM while excluding Bendy, it's like the projectionist's sort of revenge on the Ink Demon after what the Ink Demon did to him in the first game
I'm surprised I got the Carley achievement and the No death achievement in one run. I got scared and flicked my mouse everywhere, every time she popped up. And yet I somehow. Never. Died.
29:56 theres always something so hilarious how when you watch the gameplay, and you just see the mouse shake out of fear when a jumpscare occurs but you can't hear or see the person getting jumpscared
Fun fact - If you do nothing in the opening, specifically when Audrey is sitting at her desk. She’ll eventually go “You know what? I don’t need the coffee, I need to work” and then it’ll cut to the credits

I thought that the Ink Demon evolved like this is because of the amount of times The Cycle has been reset, hm🤔.
Lost ones become more human as they stop standing in one spot sad and lost, they begin to become who they used to be before they were converted into ink creatures (the artist lost one wanting his pictures, the lost one being thrown from the butcher shop acting like he was just fired), or create a whole new identity (Porter and Heidi.) And of course, the Ink Demon changes, he's not just a soulless husk who's task is to hunt anything that moves, but he's become a beaten and tortured animal who loathes himself (his whole speech to Audrey of being a "mistake, a monster" these are things he remembers from his creation and until this moment hasn't been able to remember it.)
And of course, the longer the cycle stays active, the more things change.
In fact... what if the Joey we meet wasn't Joey trying to put himself into the cycle as Pastra theorizes? But enough fragments that came back together to create him?

What if the reason the original feels so less scary is because we see it from Henry’s POV? Also could explain why he sounds so… not afraid throughout the whole thing. Because he’s done this before and knows what’s going to happen, so it’s not really scary.
Audrey on the other hand, has never been in the cycle, so everything is new and horrifying to her. Again, probably just a coincidence, but a cool thing I thought about.
That honestly enhances the experience even more tbh
It's a coincidence, like the devs were making the first game's story up as they went along. The reason why Bendy and the Ink Machine isn't as scary as the Dark Revival is probably because it's not that scary.

The Ink Demon Was Always Bendy It Always Was Even In The Past
She just wanted some coffee... 😢
Well, the ending implies that she can make the cycle better, so even if she is stuck, she seems to be contented with her fate at least.
She isn’t stuck in the cycle, she can just improve it for everyone else and control it like Henry did.
One thing with Wilson's motivation. I don't think he intended to let the ink creatures Live. His Convo on the train heavily indicates his true plot was to wipe out the Ink realm and replace them with his own creations
Your character analysis on Wilson was great though.
Good thing Audrey prevented a genocide from occuring.
This whole comment is the reason i hate madison's ending, like it's so unsatisfying, BATDR on the other hand.

Thus, “her very existence was a terrible lie.”
While calling her a monster and a mistake was mainly the Ink Demon echoing what Joey had once called him, it’s worth pointing out that he probably full believes it’s true for both of them, because Audrey IS just like the Ink Demon.
In other words. If Joey was a better dad-
I'm freog, and I say, noice!
Bendys monologue strikes me more as manipulation. For some reason he wants Audrey to merge with him, and I assume the merging can only happen willingly. So he demoralizes her, manipulates her emotions and worldview to feel that there is no road other than merging with him.
i-i think i might cry.

Seeing how Pastra is an artist, I can see where he’s coming from and why tore into him
For example, nowadays there are a bunch of Wilsons out there, AI “artists” are the IRL Wilsons
They call themselves creators despite not creating anything since the machine just takes and steals from others, saying artists will be replaced despite the machine being flawed and needing real artists work
And, of course, being bitter, angry and jealous of real artists because, deep down, they know they’ll never be recognized, taken seriously and be real artists
Man lucky Wilson didnt get to meet Pastra, otherwise, he would have been double dead
Especially since Wilson didn't do anything WRONG in his situation
He found out about the loop
He wanted to break it
There's countless other things he could've done but he chose the most roundabout way
Okay but the fact that Audrey gave Bendy more compassion than her father ever did despite him creating the both of them is making me emotional.

Woah you’re so right!!! I didn’t even connect that 👀
Now that the sequel to this series has been released, I think it’s clear that this game is a love letter (design-wise) to the Bioshock and Epic Mickey games. The hallways of the studio are very similar to the tunnels in the underwater city of Rapture, the music being an ominous loop of songs from the 1930’s and 40’s, and more direct references being the audio logs we find and Joey Drew acting in a similar way to Andrew Ryan. (Oh and the cartoon city window in Dark Revival REALLY being a reference to the opening of Bioshock.)
In relation to Epic Mickey, I think the toon style art direction is very similar, and the story revolving around former cartoon studio creations gone horribly wrong.
The second was my favorite btw)
Anyway, while watching the videos I was thinking "all of this is giving me strong Bioshock vibes" (more Bioshocks 1 and 2 with the tight Rapture hallways and the audio logs than Infinite with the wide open spaces)
OMG YOU’RE RIGHT
Part of me wonders if Joey’s pseudo-redemption in this game is at least partially because theMeatly wanted to disassociate the character from the memes about Mike Mood being an IRL Joey Drew.

Wilson may have lied about killing Bendy, but maybe there was some truth to when he said he "tore the Ink Demon in two."
What's even more neat is once this is revealed, you now by proxy have an emotional attachment to the Ink Demon.
(except ignore everything I juST SAID YOU ACTUALLY DO SORTA HAPPEN IN A DIFFERENT WAY THEY PULL A FREAKING SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY AND IT THE COOLEST FREAKING THING THE WORLD)
...That's what I was planning to comment on going into this, and then I got to the end of the video.
Noice
I personally think that in BATIM, he was a character who was just very spiteful. He had grown accustomed to sadness and anger and henceforth nearly couldn't feel anything positive. However, he was not pure evil because whereas BATDR ink demon is always shown as a fearless demon fueled by anger, BATIM bendy was shown to, during the projectionist scene, display mercy and did actually panic, displaying fear, when the END was played.
Tl;dr
In BATIM, he is a satanic Grinch
In BATDR, he is liquid dalek
@@mrreyes5004 I’ve seen a lot of your comments on this video and I have to say that you’re really talented with words and analysis!
Given the entire ending sequence, I feel like a major message to take away from it is... that the player is a part of the series' legacy.
You are what gives Bendy power, but you are the ones who control him in the process. And if that power inspires you, you can take everything you like from it, and create something truly astounding.

This game might genuinely be the best horror game of 2022 with how much of a jump in quality it is compared to the first game
sure its graphicly better but i think the original is better in my eyes, there's no overpowered mechanic or anything like that. just a simple looped game while audrey is like "haha i can control literally anything im basically god" which kinda takes away the "horror" element

Dark Revival gave me MASSIVE Bioshock vibes and I mean that in the best way possible. I think it's exactly the direction this series needs to go in. I'm so excited to see what comes next for the series.
Considering I just replayed Bioshock, I know exactly what you mean!
Well from what I have heard, one of theMeatly’s favorite games is Bioshock so I guess he took inspiration from it for this game. I’m not complaining about that because from what I have seen of this game, this game makes Bioshock look like a chump
@@zeldagameryt4018 It takes a lot of what I love about Bioshock and improves on it.
It’s been clear to see the heavy inspiration the whole Bendy franchise got from Bioshock since the very start, and I absolutely love it.
They really did it right.

the original game gives the feeling of a chaotic world, forced together and constantly breaking and remaking itself- an unstable, feral mess of a world, just like what Joey intended to create- a hell.
But it still keeps that feeling that everything is falling apart, but it feels like someone's just taking it apart instead.

the fact that after so many years Bendy could come back with such flying color (so to speak) is really cool to see, I really have enjoyed watching the game series grow since 2017.

I love this game. The aesthetic is superb, the atmosphere is immersive. Incredible.
@@mrreyes5004 Poor Henry didn't really do anything though

I'm surprised I got the Carley achievement and the No death achievement in one run. I got scared and flicked my mouse everywhere, every time she popped up. And yet I somehow. Never. Died.
So happy to see the BATIM fandom come back after all of these years. Old and new fans alike ❤
