Brilliant! Neil has so many, many songs... so many versions of songs-- electric... acoustic... It's nose-to-the-stone serendipity that I stumbled across this version today!!!
One of many masterpieces from mr.Young...how he does it ill never know..words are so on point with the artistic ability with the way he give feeling in his guitar..includes electric jams..
Supposed to see Neil and crazy horse in Chicago a couple weeks ago but the show was postponed I truly hope that It gets rescheduled and it doesn't get canceled
I think this is his most complete song. A culmination of so many songs and stories. Each verse as relevant now as it was in 90’s. ‘Well its hard to judge from and angry throng of hands stretched up in the air, the vigilante people. Beautiful.
Well said, on so many levels. It completely captured my emotions when I first heard it in the early 2000's and still does. And I know people on the opposite side of the political spectrum feel the same. Give it up folks. We are all just Ordinary People!
I heard Neil do this song with the Bluenotes in Sacramento in 1988. It was just epic, maybe second only to the version he did of Change Your Mind at the Bridge school benefit in 1994.
Kinda miss the horns , this has a little darker sound and perhaps carries the message a little more realistically , proud to call Mr. Young the voice of my generation , thanks .
I think the original was the electric version with the Bluenotes played live on tour in 1988. He only played an acoustic version of this song twice (the other being in Melbourne, Australia on the same tour as this Sydney performance)
The harmonica in the beginning is giving me massive goosebumps, goddamn heaven sent! Neil Young for the people!
Yes king
This is just about as good as it gets. What a performance. A man of the people. God, if there is one, bless you Mr Young.
That’s the beauty of Neil-He can completely change a song’s essence going from electric to acoustic.

i feel exactly the same!

I have that version from Sacramento. I think it's my favorite electric version right up there with the Jones Beach version
Hey, I was there that night in Sacramento! What an epic show!!

That Jones Beach has the lyric
"the DONALD TRUMP PEOPLE"

I was at the Melbourne concert. From memory it was the first song of the night.
Ma si nota bene la sua arte di suonare . La sua è arte . A suo modo è grande
Spellbound
Amazing version..
Wonder if Both Electric & Acoustic Versions -Complete- Will Be Released On N.Y.A. Vol. 3 ? Or Versions that We Have Not Heard ?
love u neil
Does anyone happen to know what key of harmonica he is playin?
E
can anyone tell me the chords ?
the eletric version is em-C-D-hm...... but this version is different
+humaddylp You could tune down a full step, to DGCFAD, and play F#m, D, E, C#m. The chorus is played A, E, D.
tuning down a half step and playing Dm, Bb, C, Am works too I guess
love ya channel.. funny how you dont have more subs..I come up with something for ya ;) thx
