    They don’t make them like Teddy no more. His sound was definitely one of one. He definitely had the power and persuasion in his voice.

    This is actually the third and last song in a trilogy. The first one is "Come on and go with me", and the second is "Close the door" (best of the 3 IMO).

    When Teddy says "turn out the lights" he's telling you either such force, it makes you wanna turn off every source of light..., lamps, ceiling lights, blow out candles, unscrew light bulbs, close the blinds, ......e.t.c. "He be serious"!!!🤗

    Teddy is the lead singer of Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes! My favorite song of theirs is , The Love I Lost! Play it on repeat…………A great soulful singer and a gorgeous Man😍

  • @laminage
    @laminage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +49

    This man probably bought alot of "Babies" into The World. He was the "undisputed" Star of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes that's why he left. Another one of the Songs he did in The Group was "If You Don't Know Me By Now" that was later covered by Simply Red and even Ricky Gervais as David Brent on The Office (UK). Sadly enough he suffered a Bad Car Accident that left him paralyzed. In 1987 Jackie Collins (RIP) did a Book called Rock Star where there was a R & B Singer named Bobby Mondella who could have been a composite of Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Him, Donny Hathaway and even Frankie Lymon.

    • @laminage
      @laminage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelasay6140 No worries. Bad Luck, The Love I Lost, and in The UK they did an amazing Documentary about him. The Brits have always been die hard fans and supporters of R & B since the 1950's.

    You should have watched the live 1979 performance in concert of this song. Teddy killed it and sounds just like the record, but the performance is unbelievable. The audience is so into him and are unbelievably quiet hanging onto every word. It is so tragic that he got into a car accident that left him paralyzed when he was at the top of his game. I still listen to this man everyday!

OMG/: now forty years later, I got what I wanted and my second choice should have been my first marriage--been with her now since 1989. I gave her everything she wants and I got mine.

    Now, this is what happens when I'm washing the dishes right now, after cooking in the kitchen playing the song on this video... & not -- actually sitting down and 'watching' the video 😏
    When the song is about to finish, I take time out to 'rewind' the video a little -- just to hear it again..... Only to find myself seeing you - Satori with a
    'Flex wand Lighter' in your hand 😂😂 (And to think, I thought I was doing too much, by dancing in the kitchen on this song) 😂🔥🔥
    You Sir.... Just made my night!
    Blessings to you Satori My G 💜

    @cmlady0437 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Satori My G, I'm hear to tell you...
    ain't nothing wrong with having an old soul 😏
    I actually consider it a Blessing 💜
    Felt that way when I was younger listening to Bobby Womack for the first time in the late 90's.... It was a start of new beginnings for me -- on my journey of Heart & Soul music 🎶🎶🎧
    Ain't skipped a beat since 😂😂

    I give you a lot of credit for bringing that up because these rappers have really stolen the old music and proclaimed it be their own and it all came from all the old songs I hear it all the time I’m not saying all of them but 90% of them it’s it’s it’s unbelievable they are to think up their own stuff like these people dead or get the Raiders to do it Teddy Pendergrass was one of the greatest singers and even saying after he was paralyzed in a car accident and saying from wheelchair was paralyzed from the neck down thank you thank you for recognizing that your friend always Liz The Queen

    Secondly, I believe it was at Teddy’s concerts where the ladies used to throw their underwear up on stage - or maybe it was Marvin Gaye - or maybe it was both!
    Great reaction, by the way!

    Most of today’s rappers and singers have sampled from the old greats. Alicia Keys sampled the Main Ingredient’s Let Me Prove My Love To You for You Don’t Know My Name. DeBarge has been heavily sampled by some of the biggest names in rap and hip hop. The reason for that is because that era was so doggone good.

  • @dianewentz9400

    Satori My G: Below, there are a lot of great Teddy P. song suggestions, as well as some of the songs from his Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes days. They are all great suggestions and you should probably check them out.
    However, I'd like to point out that Teddy was a multi-faceted individual/performer and had spiritual side to him that had emerged in him at a young age. It was about a year and a half ago, during what we now know was the beginning of the COVID lockdown, that I first heard a song that I should have heard years before: "Wake Up Everybody, " a song he recorded while he was still with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. At the point that I first heard it (again, about a year and a half ago), I was angry that I hadn't heard it before, but recognized that the song was still (unfortunately) as relevant now as it was it was recorded.
    So if listening to 'socially relevant" music despite far too many years of antipathy) is something you do, I would encourage you to listen to it (th-cam.com/video/OOxoeGL3tTo0/w-d-xo.html)
    Peace,
    DW
