Hey everybody! Just wanted to clarify that this video is really just about what I’d love to see in Minecraft in general! These features are just some of many I feel would make the game better. But thank you all for the support and feedback I love the help!!
I think that a minecraft 2 would be amazing, but not needed at all. I think if minecraft modding became more easily accesible to bedrock edition and maybe pocket edition, we could all be playing what we want "minecraft" to be, not some multi-trillion dollar company. But i will also be following very closely with what Notch and his team are doing, and I will probably buy the game
Hey! Yeah same I definitely agree. I personally love playing mod packs so I’m always feeling like it’s Minecraft 2 Whenever I play haha but I am glad they have release content (mod like content) to the Xbox and PlayStation. We just need the option to add more to our game without having to jump through hoops. But definitely let’s see what game he releases.
I feel like he is gonna go for more of a different feel. Like ReLogic is making Terraria 2, but there's no way they just make another 2D sandbox like how terraria is. I think you might be pretty spot on with how things might go if he makes another, essentially a complete overhaul of the base game, nearly making a new game, especially if he includes ideas of magic and the sorts, since Notch brought up ideas in the tweets you showed. Either way, I am sure that whatever game is made, it'll be good
Yeah exactly! I really believe we do not need a Minecraft 2 because there is already so much time and effort that’s been poured into what we have now. But i do love the idea of notch aiming that high for his new game! I think that’s something worth speculating!
(this is a lot of text so I prefice this to say that this is not meant to have a negative tone, just a response and observation of Minecraft from a game designer perspective) I find a lot of what you want to be added to be a sort of misunderstanding of Minecraft. The point of the game is not the bosses or to beat the ender dragon, it's just to build and mine. The game is fundamentally founded on player driven gameplay, and nearly all of what you're asking from Minecraft 2 is scripted gameplay. Minecraft is infinite because it pairs complete freedom, a massive world, and almost entirely player driven gameplay, to ask for infinite designed content is just unreasonable, even massive companies struggle to keep giving people designed content, let alone one guy who has a long track record of not being able to stay focused on a project or stay honest to his goals. The thing that makes most of Minecraft's new content seem empty is that it specifically does not serve the player driven focus, and either demands specific execution of its self contained mechanics or has little to no purpose at all that isn't served by one or multiple other things. The new content was fulfilling when it served the needs of the player and the basics of the gameplay. The nether continued to do this with new blocks that served their own purposes and does so even better now but I think the addition of the End was the first change that started slipping away from player driven gameplay and started focusing on precise execution. After this point, that scale of deviation was never done again but they did start drifting from their own style and fundamental purpose behind most of the content they were adding. If it doesn't serve the processes of gathering resources or building things, then it is unlikely to be compelling for the general population of Minecraft players. They don't play Minecraft to fight bosses, they play it to build things. New blocks serve the purpose of building, tools served the purpose of harvesting resources and mining, swords served both by keeping you protected while you mine or build, exploration was served by minecarts, then horses, then elytra, and now the former are essentially obsolete, their original purposes are functionally extinct. Minecraft has become so bloated with content that either doesn't serve it's best aspects or leaves no purpose left for mechanics it replaced that the appeal of Minecraft is now unclear, and not even the fans really know what draws them back in for the 2 week phase, but they know they aren't getting it from modern Minecraft. I am currently in the process of making a game and have been studying game design in depth to figure out what makes compelling gameplay and while what you want from the game can make a compelling and fun game, I don't think you're asking for Minecraft, what would serve your wants is a spinoff.

But you are definitely right when you say it’s a block by block game. I agree the main goal being building and crafting! I just love to picture the game with different aspects, but then again I’m very uneducated on how to create a game so that’s a field I’d like to know more about anyways. Thanks for the information!!
I think we need more blocks for builders like me to make are buildings stand out like more wood types or more variant for stone and other stuff like that to make the builds stand more out

In minecraft 2. We NEED Crossplay and free multiplayer severs. Its bullshit that we have to pay for a good sever to play, with our friends. we should be able to play the game we BOUGHT, with people on playstation or Xbox. And on a free sever. 👍👍
100% agree!! i should have mentioned that!! we should not need to pay for servers at all when we have already bought the game itself. This is all microsoft's fault to be honest. Its difficult to do but servers are free to make on java edition.
I completely agree on certain points like the wildlife or more structures and maybe also the bosses I don’t like the thought of a story line themed quests it’s not Minecraft, at the end of the day we’re talking a of and already infinite game we’re “quest” are made by the player himself ex: I need to build a small city ecc and the you go on from there. I don’t think missions imposed by game would be good for the type of game we’re talking about. Butt the rest I agree on expanding on the world of Minecraft structures materials block mobs ecc ecc would be absolutely insane, imagine walking around and boom you find a temple looking like the Taj Mahal (maybe not that extreme) but it be pretty cool

I do think it would be cool to see optional tasks you can complete for XP. Maybe a new villager type could give you jobs in return for ores, wood, or XP? But I don't know, I definitely see what you are saying, and I definitely agree! (Also, I love that idea; like imagine stumbling upon a lost civilization with your friends!!)

Cross play is an option through geyser/paper servers and you can host one free on your local machine or pay cheap for a host. Like 10 a month.
