I will say something that none of the many thousands of comments to this song have dared to say. As for this song if I have the choice to listen to Elvis or Angelina, I would have actually chosen Angelina's cover version. I know it's swearing in church. But this is now my opinion.

The leather pantsuit and red guitar are straight from Elvis's 1968 comeback tour and the hairstyle is how his wife Priscilla wore her hair at the time . The 3 young children were representative of Angelina's growth through the years . The two youngest were her Uncle Mike's children and the oldest was of course her sister Juliette . Also the video was executively produced by her Grandma Mery . It is always a family affair with this amazingly talented young lady. No one does it better than The Barefoot Princess !!

Liz, I have been following Angelina for almost 4 years now. I have never heard a bad song, and going through time, every performance was as good as the next. Of course her voice developed over time and became more mature, as did her technique. But something immeasurable and unexplainable seems to have happened with this song and performance! The only way I can put it into words is that she evolved from a rising star to a superstar almost overnight! This performance was epic and legendary and I don't think will be forgotten soon by anyone. I heard that it was trending on TH-cam! It was Angelina's vocals and guitar, and the piano and the setting and the attire, and the little girls all coming together to create something larger than Life. Liz, I hope you're feeling better. Listening to Angelina is surely one way to make that happen. Liz, if you didn't say a word your reaction was something that I felt in my heart. I recently saw a video of Elvis singing this live and it was great. Then I saw Angelina do her version, to me a tribute to Elvis, and she created a whole other song. And, my goodness, we have to acknowledge the contribution Rob Christie adds to the video's when they appear together. Angelina needs to feel very comfortable with whomever is playing for her, a guitarist, a pianist, a band or even an orchestra. You can tell she is very comfortable with Rob and we can only imagine the joy he is getting playing for Angelina. He is an executive at Republic Records and a multi Grammy Award winner who has played with scores of great performers. I bet he would make a great interview. Liz, sleep is always the best remedy. Falling asleep listening to Angelina is close to being in paradise.

I can see the record company is being very careful to keep her voice front and center and not to much embellishment. That opening line is the most beautifully warm, solid, and grounded voice ive ever heard. She sang this pretty straight with no vocal fry and reserved two note runs. She’s right on the edge of contralto in this. Her voice feels like the sweater grandma made for you that you never want to take off.

I'm sitting here in tears, I envy Rob that he gets to play for AJ, I can't believe I can't be at their concerts in Norway, and I envy everyone who gets to experience that and of course I wish you a wonderful one experience for you participants. Another incredible song from Angelina the way she can express emotions is beyond words. So much detail in the video showing respect to Elvis - the black leather, the guitar the beehive hair style. Great piano from Rob. How high can this young lady fly?
Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂
I watch reactions to Angelina's performances the way some people watch cat videos. The song is not short, but it seems so. You'd be surprised how many reactors solve this little problem by playing it twice. That's far from normal, but perhaps repetition is the sincerest form of flattery.
It is hard to say anyone is better than Elvis, but in my opinion, in this song, her interpretation of the lyrics and the execution of this arrangement is so perfect, that no one could do any better including Elvis himself. It is also worth noting that after all kinds of experimentation as she grew up over the last couple of years she seems to have found a consistent style she is comfortable with that seems a blending of classical jazz and modern R&B and distinctly Angelina.

She has always been so much older than her years. I mean, who would decide to enter a national competition at 7 and sing old jazz songs like Gloomy Sunday and Summertime? She's like a human sponge when it comes to varied music genres, absorbing and compartmentalizing so that she can refer to the characteristics in them when she sings future songs. Her fascination with Elvis is evident, not just here but in other songs of his that she has covered, including a gospel classic where she holds a lower register more constantly than 'The King' even did, that being 'How Great Thou Art'. Her grandmother paints with a palate of assorted colors and she 'paints' musicality in a very similar way. Both were child prodigies and possessed immense talent from a very early age.
Once again Angelina is playing 3D chess while everyone is playing checkers, is truly the definition of class from the beehive hairdo guitar and the blue suede shoes , she is simply in a league of her own, I truly hope her album with all originals comes out soon so all the naysayers who say she is just a cover artist can eat their words.

You're probably referring to the light and shadows when she was reclining on the sofa which many people think make her shoes seem blue.....The blue suede shoes which Elvis wore are brogues with laces; not ankle boots with a high heel... Go to the original video, full screen and change the playback settings to .5. Notice the boots when she walks into the store and again at :21 before she pulls the sheet off the piano. Can you now see they're silver boots?

Liz, I hope you're feeling better. Listening to Angelina is surely one way to make that happen. Liz, if you didn't say a word your reaction was something that I felt in my heart.
I recently saw a video of Elvis singing this live and it was great. Then I saw Angelina do her version, to me a tribute to Elvis, and she created a whole other song.
And, my goodness, we have to acknowledge the contribution Rob Christie adds to the video's when they appear together. Angelina needs to feel very comfortable with whomever is playing for her, a guitarist, a pianist, a band or even an orchestra. You can tell she is very comfortable with Rob and we can only imagine the joy he is getting playing for Angelina. He is an executive at Republic Records and a multi Grammy Award winner who has played with scores of great performers. I bet he would make a great interview.
Liz, sleep is always the best remedy. Falling asleep listening to Angelina is close to being in paradise.

I can see the record company is being very careful to keep her voice front and center and not to much embellishment. That opening line is the most beautifully warm, solid, and grounded voice ive ever heard. She sang this pretty straight with no vocal fry and reserved two note runs. She’s right on the edge of contralto in this. Her voice feels like the sweater grandma made for you that you never want to take off.
What a wonderful reaction Liz...we all feel the same after watching this stunningly beautiful rendition of this great song and tribute to Elvis. The King just smiled down on The Queen, I am certain. I'm sitting here in tears, I envy Rob that he gets to play for AJ, I can't believe I can't be at their concerts in Norway, and I envy everyone who gets to experience that and of course I wish you a wonderful one experience for you participants. This cover is incredible and it shows what wonderful things are to come in the future. Protect her because she is the treasure of all of us. Now add the album and I'm the happiest person in the whole universe.

Her Beehive hairdo was an homage to Priscilla. Many photographs of her hair just like that. A Leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is actually Elvis‘s 1968 “Comeback” Guitar! The two young children are her cousins, her Uncle Michael’s children, the older girl is her sister Juliette. She even had a framed photo of Elvis, at this location. She shows much respect. 🌸
Rob Christian actually owns this guitar. Elvis actually borrowed the guitar used from one of his musicians.

What a rendition! Her Grandma Mery produced this. Looks like she used the same store she used for her My Funny Valentine video! Her sister Juliette was the older girl. The 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids, and, 2 time Grammy winner Rob Christie on piano. What a great cover! The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. She had the red guitar and the black outfit! I was not expecting this! This was almost 4 minutes, but it flew by and felt short! Going to listen to it again! 16 years old….Wow!!! What a performance! Hope you feel better!

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

I watch reactions to Angelina's performances the way some people watch cat videos. The song is not short, but it seems so. You'd be surprised how many reactors solve this little problem by playing it twice. That's far from normal, but perhaps repetition is the sincerest form of flattery.

It is hard to say anyone is better than Elvis, but in my opinion, in this song, her interpretation of the lyrics and the execution of this arrangement is so perfect, that no one could do any better including Elvis himself. It is also worth noting that after all kinds of experimentation as she grew up over the last couple of years she seems to have found a consistent style she is comfortable with that seems a blending of classical jazz and modern R&B and distinctly Angelina.

I mean, who would decide to enter a national competition
at 7 and sing old jazz songs like Gloomy Sunday and
Summertime? She's like a human sponge when it comes
to varied music genres, absorbing and compartmentalizing
so that she can refer to the characteristics in them when she
sings future songs. Her fascination with Elvis is evident, not
just here but in other songs of his that she has covered, including
a gospel classic where she holds a lower register more constantly
than 'The King' even did, that being 'How Great Thou Art'. Her
grandmother paints with a palate of assorted colors and she 'paints'
musicality in a very similar way. Both were child prodigies and
possessed immense talent from a very early age.
I've stated many times that she has some big ears and this one proves it once again. You can hear the history of music in her voice 😀
Once again Angelina is playing 3D chess while everyone is playing checkers, is truly the definition of class from the beehive hairdo guitar and the blue suede shoes , she is simply in a league of her own, I truly hope her album with all originals comes out soon so all the naysayers who say she is just a cover artist can eat their words.

You're probably referring to the light and shadows when she was reclining on the sofa which many people think make her shoes seem blue.....The blue suede shoes which Elvis wore are brogues with laces; not ankle boots with a high heel... Go to the original video, full screen and change the playback settings to .5. Notice the boots when she walks into the store and again at :21 before she pulls the sheet off the piano. Can you now see they're silver boots?

Fantastic reaction Liz! I understand you very well, five days after the publication of this little masterpiece, I can't stop listening to it, it's absolutely fascinating and exciting. I love his voice so powerful, warm and delicate at the same time and I keep moving, every time. Angelina has always been wonderfully engaging, but now her voice gets warmer and deeper each time and her slower version of this iconic song is truly fantastic, for me much closer to the emotion of the lyrics than Elvis's version. 💛🧡❤️

You had a double whammy ... her shockingly stunning voice that we have loved and heard for years do wonderful amazing uniquely perfect for every song suddenly knock us over with the depth and passion of the very first sentence in this magnificent Elvis cover. It's taken days to process somehow. And I don't mean intellectually .. though that is part of it .. but the way she tells the story and the truth about suspicion hits to the very core of the mysterious beauty of art and the difficulties and challenges of relationship. We feel the sadness, the loss, the love, the eternal repetitive doubting of the love that is precious and present and true. At the same time we are filled with the pleasure and richness of the artistic offering we are receiving. Can you imagine how time flew by so fast..It was only quick 8 years ago that a cute little adorable girl with a crooked tooth sang ' Gloomy Sunday ' on Norway Got Talent... Even when she was 8 years old, her soul was already 16 then..She took command of that stage like she was 16 and new exactly what she wanted to do for the rest of her life...We're all just bless that she's lovingly taking us along on her journey with her...I'm 58, and never have I witness the likes of Angelina Jordan. before..
