I'm a student in Swedish language in France and found out about this monstrosity during a Sankta Lucia celebration held at my University, where one guy had brought and played on his nyckelharpa. I was instantly impressed by the instrument and told myself that I would one day get one and learn how to play. Seeing how expensive and rare it is (especially outside of Sweden) I thought I would have to wait years and years before I could get my hands on one. And then I found about Jaap's website. I'm definitely keeping my eyes on the website to get a nerdyharpa as soon as I can! Thank you for your video, I think it will help me when I'll be building my own. :p
Wow! that looks incredibly complicated - I applaud your ambition. When I wanted a Nyckelharpa some years ago I bought a new one from Sweden. It took nearly a year to arrive so was probably still a tree when I ordered it :) Have fun - I'm really looking forward to hearing how it plays and sounds when finished!
So far it wasn't hard to do, but it takes some time. Cool you have a nyckelharpa too! How much do they usually cost? And I'm really curious too for the sound, and to how it feels to play it. 😊
😂 😂 Yes, we have that saying here in England too. Also it's nice to learn and focus on new things other than the violin now and then. I try to do the same!🙂
Heel leuk neergezet. Kijk nu al uit naar de volgende twee video's. Vind het knap hoe je het eigenlijk met minimale hoeveelheid klemmen in elkaar gezet hebt haha. Ik stond op het punt om een nerdy gurdy te bouwen. Want het proces leek me heel leuk. Maar toen heb ik eentje gekocht bij een instrument bouwer. Nu ik jou deze nyckelharpa zie maken raak ik gemotiveerd om alsnog een kit te bestellen haha. Maar dan inderdaad wel de Nyckleharpa.

That's so nice, I hope you can get one soon! 😊
Oh my ! 😅🤨your very brave 💪🤣 love your enthusiasm nice build so far, never heard of this contraption before it's cool 😎
Glad you like it! 😊✨
I wish I had the mental and physical space and tools to build one, too! Really looking forward to seeing how this one turns out :D
Traditional "real" nyckelharpas vary in length quite a bit. Some are longer, some shorter. You do great build videos! Thanks for taking the time!
That's interesting to learn, thanks! And happy to hear you like my videos. 😊

Wow, so many parts but you make it look easy. Interested to see how it comes out, love the sound it makes. Thanks 🙂😘
It definitely keeps you from roaming the streets, as we say here. 😜 And yes, they sound amazing! I hope this one will too. 🙂

Dankjewel! 🙂 En met 3 klemmen kom je al een heel eind, ja. Het is een heel leuk project om te doen!
Nyckel means key, as in a key+lock or a keyboard .
😮😊
