Important to point out that she is "staining" the keys at 5:41, and not "painting" them. Paint would add a layer of thickness and texture to them and make it harder for them to move freely within the holes they fit into. Whereas a stain soaks into the wood, and while it may raise the grain a little, the keys can be sanded down if needed, without scraping off the colour.
That's an awesome color palette! I have to say I do like the sound the instrument makes judging from the music you've edited into the video. The ren fair vibes are real
Thank you! The finished instrument won't sound as full as a "real" hurdy gurdy, but it's a good and affordable way of getting to know the instrument. If I end up really liking it, I might rent a gurdy and save up for one too. But let's first see if I like playing it. 😉
I just ordered my Nerdy Gurdy and was looking for some information on giving it a paintjob when I assemble it. Can you give some more info on the types/brands of colors you used? Is it acrylic paint? Also: nice paintjob!
been obsessed with your channel! I have slowly made my way towards bowed instruments, and am not looking back! Also such a cool project you got there! :D
Really like the colour combinations you chose for this, it looks great! Definitely feel the Baron 1898 vibe! Can't wait to see where you take it next. (For future diy projects I've got a tip to consider - try layering your metallics over a black base. Doing so brings out a lovely depth to the colours!)
Subscribed because I wanna be the first to know when Hurdy Gurdy Pt3 lands on our shores in the UK. This is worse than waiting for the final part of Game of Thrones!
Merhaba. Size Türkiye'den yazıyorum. Bu üründen bende istiyorum. Nereden bulabilirim? Satış linki var mı? Yada bu ürünün plan ve çizimlerini de gönderebilir misiniz? Teşekkür ederim
Interesting. 🤔 One person's "deep petrol blue" is another person's "medium blue-green." That is to say, the primary paint color looks more like 'teal' to me, similar to the color of 'cyan.' Regardless, it's a very nice paint job and combination. 👍 ☺
It shows up a bit brighter on camera, in reality the color is deeper. I like a really deep petrol, but didn't want to go too dark in case it would become one dark blob. 😉
You stayed so happy through the process...

👏👌Nice color choice for that instrument 😁💐
Thanks a lot! I really like it too. 😊🌟
looking forward to hearing how it sounds when finished!

Thanks a lot! 🧡 And great tip, I'll keep that in mind! 😊
A colourless fluorescence colour could make some nice details xD
Cool idea! 😋
Ik kijk er naar uit. Mooi!

i like the build but how is it now, is it done?
I didn't touch it for 3 months after painting (I got a bit fed up with the amount of work). But last week I started again and now I'm nearly done!
@@MarijkeViolin I eagerly await the next episode!
@@MarijkeViolin Yay! Can’t wait to see and hear it!
