@@udontknowme7417 I found a way though mixing it with yogurt and swallowing the spoon full of yogurt while the pill is inside there so I don’t think about it goes down smoothly after so much practice am not anemic anymore when I went back to my doc
I hate that parents get so upset when their kids can't swallow pills. Like, what's screaming/taking their phone away going to do? Help them out, don't punish them cause they're scared.
yeah it literally made me panic so much that I began seeing shapes and my blood pressure skyrocketed that my head hurt, no joke it was horrible but I searched this us so maybe I can help myself out lol.....
@@just_ise4418 Jeez that sounds horrible, I'm sorry. Maybe instead of swallowing them, you could put them into a food of some sort, like yogurt. That's what I did with my pills. Definitely check with your pharmacist first though to make sure it's safe. I hope it works out ok

I’m just sitting here, crying because a child can swallow a pill, and i’m 13 and i still struggle. The first and only time i’ve been able to swallow a pill was on an airplane and i was crying there too, and struggling for 2 hours to finally get it down. I DID IT AAH July/8/2021 okay so i did even more digging and here are the stuff that worked for me: • crunch your toes when you swallow the pill to loosen up your gag-reflexes • hold your thumb tight between your fingers on your left hand to loosen up your gag-reflexes • hold the water and the pill in your mouth and watch a video, read something, and when you forget that you had the pill in your mouth or feel like you only have water in there go ahead and swallow, you won’t even feel it go down.
This actually helps me. I have anxiety and I get worried that I will choke so even though im 14 I can’t swallow pills. I watched this video as I drained a liquid claritin. Im having my mom buy some of these items so I can work my way up to the size of an ibuprofen. Thank you! And if anyone else is struggling you got this! It’s not easy and can be scary but work on it and things will get easier

I’m traumatized from swallowing my pills. I went outside to eat and I was suppose to take my pill, so I did but it went horribly wrong and it dissolved in my mouth I spat it out and tried another one and almost didn’t swallow it. Hello. I've watched every video that tries to give tips on swallowing pills. I appreciate all the videos and I see you just want to help those who may be struggling. However, it feels like none of these videos on youtube are helping. I think the main issue is their understanding of why we can't swallow so easily. All these videos only show us positions to take such as lean your head forward or place the pill on the tonged, some say place it on the back of the tongue. Let me explain why I can't swallow. My body simply refuses to do it. Perhaps a phycological reaction or anxiety. I try, but its like my tongue has a mind of its own and refuses to let it get to the throat. Today, It took me 14 attempts just to swallow 2 pills. First time It ended up on the side of my mouth somehow. then I tried again, It got close to the back, but drinking water wasn't enough to get to my throat so I tried again. Its like.... how to explain.... trying to walk up an escalator that is going down while taking baby steps. I think many people feel this way. At some point, I just stopped trying and even at age 32, Its still no good. Yes, I've tried with M&Ms but its no good. If this sounds like you, I actually have a trick that works for me. I've learned how to skip that escalator although it still takes practice. I've learned how to force it into my throat even without the help of water, however you still want water nearby in case you mess up and it doesn't go all the way down. Here is the trick. You need to rely on the speed of your tongue retracting itself. First say "ahhhhh" stick your tongue out as far as possible but be careful to not cause any aches or pains when doing so. Ok, you have your tongue out far right? Now place the pill center and as far back as possible even if its uncomfortable a little. Now, you want to retract your tongue quickly. The goal is for your tongue to retract back to its normal position while forcing the pill further back in the mouth to where its in your throat. The speed can cause the pill to already be in the throat. If its stuck there, just drink some water. It can fail sometimes but this works for me. I appreciate the help of this video, but trying to say "even a kid can do it" is only making things worse. Update - WOW, I got 215 likes. I'm happy that some of you found this useful.

I respect your efforts that inspite of being so freaked out you all still want to do it. I feel you cause I have gone through the same. GUYS JUST KEEP TRYING AND YOU WILL SUCCEED AND IT WON'T CHOKE!!! My method: put the pill at back of your throat and take a gulp of water and most importantly ALLOW the pill to get down the throat. Keep the fear aside and nothing's hard.

25 here and just looked up this video. I can do small pills (only since a year ago), but not those huge vitamin ones. She's literally taking a pill swallowing class, don't think we've had that when I was younger, so I wouldn't compare myself to her :DD Follow what they're doing and you should get there slowly. There are also some other tips with tilting your head down and swallowing like that. Probably didn't learn too much from this video, except that practice is everything, but it was very wholesome :DDD
@@MadiHun Someone in a previous comment made mention of their separating the pill from the liquid - which just makes everything so difficult. I had to take some pills and I realized just focusing on swallowing everything helps a lot. Don’t focus on the tablet/pill.

But it is just that, a barrier created by our own minds, which we can train to not do by consistently facing our fears. When I first got diabetes I was terrified of needles. Now I can take a shot in my sleep. The difference between then and now is, I've used a lot of needles!
I cant swallow pills, I have iron pills if I keep them in my mouth for too long I get a instant taste of blood and end up throwing up.. But the training with candy thing is a really good idea. I think I will first try with those so I wont ruin my taste. Edit: I swallowed my pills! I had to cut it into pieces tho bc I can’t do it full..

im not sure if this is an option for you but you can try to ask your doctor if there are other forms of the medicine that you can take, mine sometimes lets me choose between capsules and liquids,powders, etc

I was about to try that but my doctor gave me a list of stuff that I can't eat. I literally can only eat 3 stuff 😭😭😭 sick of food I've lost 6kg by not eating for 5 days. i've been prescribed these capsules for my acne and it's literally the most bitterest thing i've ever tasted, i had to pry open the capsule and drink the powder with water but apparently you're not supposed to do that so basically i'm now back on square one, i'm supposed to have these capsules 4 times a day for a week straight and it's been like the 5th day so i'm almost done. i'm a fully grown ass 15 year old who cannot swallow pills and it's honestly so embarrassing. will probably keep you all updated if i am able to swallow pills one day lmao edit 1: i literally managed to swallow my vitamin pills like 3 minutes after i posted this comment omg- i think it was easier for me to place the pill at the far back of my throat and take a huge sip of water and swallow it, it didn't hurt nor did i feel it go down and i feel so much happier :) edit 2: it's been 3 months and i was able to swallow these 500mg ones a couple days later, no longer on them so i'm happy!

@@cypidez Oh… dear lord. That must be real bad. To be honest, I don’t really have problems with capsules, it slips pretty nicely. Found a solution which is to either keep your chin down as swallow or swallow normally with the capsule placed vertically near your throat. Hope it helps!
Yes, I searched for this tutorial, and don't be sad for can't take a pill. If you can't swallow it, just eat it with some bread or other food. And remember there are many of us that old, yet can't swallow pills. You're not the only one, hope this cm could help you

Tip: When you need to swallow a pill, direct your chin up. Pills tend to sink in your throat, and the goal is to get them at the back of your throat so you can easily swallow them with water. Tip #2: With capsules, put your head to your chest and DO NOT LAUGH WHEN YOU SWALLOW! Laughing will open up this one part in your throat because your trying to get air, and the capsule would just go down the area and dissolve IN YOUR LUNGS. Anyways, when u get your head down to your chest, just swallow it with some water. Tip#3: If you have trouble swallowing your medications, just crush it up and put it in some yogurt or something. Tip#4: Swallowing your medications is just like swallowing a big drink of water, or a gulp of food! It probably won’t get stuck in your mouth. With capsules, they will eventually dissolve so those at least won’t get stuck for long. Also, I haven’t taken my capsule medications yet because I’m too scared as well. Crushing or chewing an extended release tablet will release the entire drug at once,giving you a very high sudden dose and possible death. Never do this.
as someone who is young, another thing which sucks is that i only swallow the water and try to keep the pill on top of my tongue for some reason. i used to swallow pills easy peasy when i was sick, but not anymore haha pills i recommended swallowing is fish oil ones. ones you can eat and ones that you can swallow since its like a bit soft it should go down easier. its okay to be embarrassed too
Thank the Lord for helping me find a good tip, if anyone is still struggling to swallow a pill you can try tilting your head a bit (towards your chest) and then swallowing the pill. It reeeally helped me take my melatonin, hope this helps :]

Im almost 30 and am pretty adventurous. I've flown helicopters and gone hundred of metres underground. Not much scares me, but i can not for the life of me, swallow pills. I've tried everything to no avail. I can't seem to bypass the fear of choking.
Start with swallowing small banana parts, make then gradually bigger until you reach the size of your pill. Keep doing this until you get comfortable with swilling without biting and then swallow your pill, helped me get across that mental block that I had!

As someone who is really sick right now.. and I have a horrible cough and I’m trying to swallow an ammonia pill- I’ve never swallowed a normal sized pill let alone one this big- and I’m freaking out… I literally telling myself I’m not gonna die, you aren’t gonna choke swallow huge pieces of food but I can NOT swallow this pill and my mom is getting irritated and I don’t know what to do.
With liquid tablets I take the liquid out and put it into a drink and swallow. It works just as fine and it’s just easier for me especially the bigger ones.

I’m traumatized from swallowing my pills. I went outside to eat and I was suppose to take my pill, so I did but it went horribly wrong and it dissolved in my mouth I spat it out and tried another one and almost didn’t swallow it. I still remember the taste... and then every time I get a pill out I instantly start to have a panic attack

Hello. I've watched every video that tries to give tips on swallowing pills. I appreciate all the videos and I see you just want to help those who may be struggling. However, it feels like none of these videos on youtube are helping. I think the main issue is their understanding of why we can't swallow so easily. All these videos only show us positions to take such as lean your head forward or place the pill on the tonged, some say place it on the back of the tongue.
Let me explain why I can't swallow. My body simply refuses to do it. Perhaps a phycological reaction or anxiety. I try, but its like my tongue has a mind of its own and refuses to let it get to the throat. Today, It took me 14 attempts just to swallow 2 pills. First time It ended up on the side of my mouth somehow. then I tried again, It got close to the back, but drinking water wasn't enough to get to my throat so I tried again.
Its like.... how to explain.... trying to walk up an escalator that is going down while taking baby steps. I think many people feel this way. At some point, I just stopped trying and even at age 32, Its still no good. Yes, I've tried with M&Ms but its no good.
If this sounds like you, I actually have a trick that works for me. I've learned how to skip that escalator although it still takes practice. I've learned how to force it into my throat even without the help of water, however you still want water nearby in case you mess up and it doesn't go all the way down.
Here is the trick. You need to rely on the speed of your tongue retracting itself. First say "ahhhhh" stick your tongue out as far as possible but be careful to not cause any aches or pains when doing so. Ok, you have your tongue out far right? Now place the pill center and as far back as possible even if its uncomfortable a little. Now, you want to retract your tongue quickly. The goal is for your tongue to retract back to its normal position while forcing the pill further back in the mouth to where its in your throat. The speed can cause the pill to already be in the throat. If its stuck there, just drink some water. It can fail sometimes but this works for me.
I appreciate the help of this video, but trying to say "even a kid can do it" is only making things worse.

My method: put the pill at back of your throat and take a gulp of water and most importantly ALLOW the pill to get down the throat. Keep the fear aside and nothing's hard.

Follow what they're doing and you should get there slowly. There are also some other tips with tilting your head down and swallowing like that.

@@MadiHun Someone in a previous comment made mention of their separating the pill from the liquid - which just makes everything so difficult. I had to take some pills and I realized just focusing on swallowing everything helps a lot. Don’t focus on the tablet/pill.

I cant swallow pills, I have iron pills if I keep them in my mouth for too long I get a instant taste of blood and end up throwing up.. But the training with candy thing is a really good idea. I think I will first try with those so I wont ruin my taste.

im not sure if this is an option for you but you can try to ask your doctor if there are other forms of the medicine that you can take, mine sometimes lets me choose between capsules and liquids,powders, etc

AYO HELPFUL TIP!! If you can’t swallow the pill, put it whole with some soft food (muffins, bread, Mac n cheese, etc). It helps me a lot, so hopefully it might help some of you :D

what i do is chew a banana first and then while it’s chewed up put the pill into my mouth and swallow both the banana and pull at the same time
I was about to try that but my doctor gave me a list of stuff that I can't eat. I literally can only eat 3 stuff 😭😭😭 sick of food I've lost 6kg by not eating for 5 days. And they gave me an ORS, It's an electrolyte used to give me energy. I thought of swallowing pills by the help of the ORS but it literally tastes like pee.

edit 1: i literally managed to swallow my vitamin pills like 3 minutes after i posted this comment omg- i think it was easier for me to place the pill at the far back of my throat and take a huge sip of water and swallow it, it didn't hurt nor did i feel it go down and i feel so much happier :)
edit 2: it's been 3 months and i was able to swallow these 500mg ones a couple days later, no longer on them so i'm happy!

@@cypidez Oh… dear lord. That must be real bad. To be honest, I don’t really have problems with capsules, it slips pretty nicely. Found a solution which is to either keep your chin down as swallow or swallow normally with the capsule placed vertically near your throat. Hope it helps!

Tip: When you need to swallow a pill, direct your chin up. Pills tend to sink in your throat, and the goal is to get them at the back of your throat so you can easily swallow them with water.
Tip #2: With capsules, put your head to your chest and DO NOT LAUGH WHEN YOU SWALLOW! Laughing will open up this one part in your throat because your trying to get air, and the capsule would just go down the area and dissolve IN YOUR LUNGS. Anyways, when u get your head down to your chest, just swallow it with some water.
Tip#3: If you have trouble swallowing your medications, just crush it up and put it in some yogurt or something.
Tip#4: Swallowing your medications is just like swallowing a big drink of water, or a gulp of food! It probably won’t get stuck in your mouth. With capsules, they will eventually dissolve so those at least won’t get stuck for long.
Also, I haven’t taken my capsule medications yet because I’m too scared as well. Seems weird that I know all these details, pf

Crushing or chewing an extended release tablet will release the entire drug at once,giving you a very high sudden dose and possible death. Never do this.

Thank the Lord for helping me find a good tip, if anyone is still struggling to swallow a pill you can try tilting your head a bit (towards your chest) and then swallowing the pill. It reeeally helped me take my melatonin, hope this helps :]

Im almost 30 and am pretty adventurous. I've flown helicopters and gone hundred of metres underground. Not much scares me, but i can not for the life of me, swallow pills. I've tried everything to no avail. I can't seem to bypass the fear of choking.
Start with swallowing small banana parts, make then gradually bigger until you reach the size of your pill. Keep doing this until you get comfortable with swilling without biting and then swallow your pill, helped me get across that mental block that I had!

Pro tip! Hid it in the middle of an applesauce! They will swallow it with the applesauce and think nothing of it! That’s how I learned.
