    Great example of how there is still exceptional instruction in corps outside of the top 12!

    Yes! You can still play with intensity at softer levels. Soft playing is not for cowards.
    Great lesson here. When I marched DCI still used the tick system for technical mistakes.
    A higher percentage of "ticks" came from when lines were playing softly. I was fortunate enough to march under the master of the tick system - Tom Float. His lines were always
    the epitome of clean execution even at softer levels. Mechanics are so important and I thank Tom for the wisdom that he shared and for all of the guys who I marched with that passed on his philosophy.

    So good! Reminds me of an audition I was at where the instructor told us that “down there” (mezzo piano and lower) “is where championships are won”. Never forgot that.

    I don't see how that style of playing is pensive

    • @haxorus4927
      @haxorus4927 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's more of a lack of velocity and you can definitely see it on the 3 inch taps

      That makes sense, but I guess me from four years ago wasn't willing to type out how I think he probably isn't communicating well. Like do they really seem like they are distracted in thought while playing accent tap? That's probably not even what he wanted to convey. He probably wanted convey something about driving the air through the drum, like you said.
