Well I don't know much about airplanes but I grew up around crop dusters my dad sprayed (cropped dusted) and owned his own business. I worked for him when I was a kid and eventually started flying for him. We had Thrushes, Airtractors and a few others at one time. I believe that is a Thrush in the video. Just look at the landing gear. That is a Thrush gear. Just saying. Oh and thanks for the nice video.

First marketed as a Snow then Rockwell Thrush, then Ayers. After the PT6 and all other turbine engines being the standard, I look back to the days when I used to step off the spray and dry fertilizer applications as a boy, and flying these radials during my Ag-pilot training days, It's a reflection to see just how slow these P&W 980-1340 radials were compared to even a 480 HP turbine is. One of many things I had to do during pre-flight was make sure the mag's were off and to hand spin the propeller to move oil into all jugs prior to climbing in and firing it up. Lastly, oil always left puddles under the engine so everyone always kept a metal pan under the engine when the plane was parked.

It's crazy all this time I thought this particular crop duster model was an AT-6 Texan!! 😂 The powerful radial engine is the reason. TBH, I found out the real name of this aircraft just a few minutes ago. I remember this legend spraying Imperial Valley fields a lot during my childhood days during the 90s! I miss hearing and seeing this legend fly. Nowadays you see more air tractors, which are all right.

Ron! OUCH! Some kind of observant birder I am huh!? Blunt front end with a radial engine, rounded horizontal stabilizers. Sure as heck is not an Air Tractor. Sure appreciate you setting me straight and I will get after changing up the title and text. From the quick little bit of research I was able to do with your input, I am thinking this must be an older model as well because it still sports the radial engine. Thanks again Ron!

I guarantee this is either an AT-301 or AT-401 Air Tractor and not a Thrush.

Little learning tip for you. Not going to spell it out for you, that way you will remember how to tell the difference, but you will never see a Thrush landing gear on any Air Tractor model. There you go. Now do a little research!!
