  • Joanne and Linda continue their Appalachian Trail journey. This is our second full day on trail. Trying for around 8 miles, from Hawk Mountain Shelter to Gooch Gap Shelter. We end up going over 4 mountains, seeing great views and wonderful scenery.
Thanks for cheering us on as we go on the longest trip of our lives. #atclassof2023

I’ve enjoyed you first two videos on the AT. Your narration is quite comfortable to listen to and I enjoy your explanations.

Excellent! Great photography. I love how you show all the scenery without swinging the camera around too fast. Too many hikers have a tendency to do a twenty minute selfie and ramble on and on about some meaningless drivel and show very little scenery. Enjoy your day. Stay safe.

Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! I would much rather be behind the camera. Linda is learning filming, so maybe I will end up in a few more shots.

The bear scat with bear fur is the first few bowl movements it has after coming out of hibernation for the winter. They use the fur as a plug while they sleep.

Wonderful video! I am just taking up hiking and it is becoming something I am always thinking about. I must say I am most impressed with your navigation skills and not using the poles. Crossing the river would have been my downfall, literally, if I didn't use my poles!

You ladies are either professional photographers/videographers or had some really good training & lots of practice, or you're just naturally artistic with your steady panning of the camera, slow upwards movements with a combination of foot treading and especially taking the time to capture beautiful scenic scenes of nature and taking the time with capturing small details of things.... I put you ladies up in the top 10 ten of other hikers videos I've seen on TH-cam, and I've only seen day 2, so I'm sure all the others are wonderful... I'll keep watching to see how many you recorded from Georgia to Maine.

You are doing GREAT. Love your quiet commentary and wonderful photography. When you start to feel discouraged, just remember this little song :
    One step at a time
Only one step at a time
That is the way the Lord is leading
    One step at a time.
    Tale that one step carefully
    Take that one step prayerfully
That is the way to VICTORY
    One step at a time.
Good hiking - safe hiking - and keep up the good work.

Sasafrass I swear that would never end lol its a taste of whats to come. Your doing good!! I see the water levels still arent what they were last April you couldn't cross Justice creek without getting your feet wet unless you had boots. It does look better than in November a lot of water was dried up. I am actually headed that way soon going to get a few miles done before I start in April. Stay safe and keep it up.

You are going to love Blood Mountain. So beautiful! Reminds me a lot of the Table Rock end of the Foothills Trail. The rest of the AT so far reminds me of the side of the Foothills Trail you did with us. A lot of ups and downs but nothing sketchy….yet. I know it is coming Lol.

      @hikingmovie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes it is really well marked and maintained. We have the FarOut app but only use it to check for shelters elevation and water. We had some places around Blood Mountain that we really had to search for blazes in all the boulders. They weren’t always obvious but they were there.

Great day, fantastic video. Thanks for the cooking demonstration.
Recommend to put your lid on top when boiling. Speed up process and definitely conserves gas. I’m sure you realize with your particular pot, it just rests upside down on top when boiling.
Keep having fun. Glad your new pad is working out for you!

We live close by in SC so can get on and off the trail when there is pretty good weather. Just a way to make miles early on, so we don’t have to hurry to reach Maine before October. Also wanted to avoid the biggest part of the bubble in GA. A lot of people will drop out before they get to NC.
