Woody was always my favorite in this franchise because of how much I relate to him but I love Buzz too! I've heard of this backstory you described and I think that would be the perfect way to get an origin/backstory movie to our lead toy! 🤠
A Proper Woody spin-off would be of Woody’s Round Up (Toy Story 2). Toy Buzz is not a doll, he’s an action figure. I admired his innovative to rescue Woody in Toy Story 2. Woody rebooting would be turning off his voice box…mentioned in Toy Story 4.
I just watched your lightyear review! I legit was thinking, "Hmmmm, I wonder if next up is Woody, and POOF!! You have a video of it! I love it! I would really love to see a movie based on Woody! Personally, I would love to see a prequel of Toy story that focuses on Woody, that way we get a better understanding of why Woody didn't know who he was prior to the Roundup gang informing him, or how Woody became in Andy's possession, I have always envisioned that they would do something like that but I thought it would be wishful thinking, I actually do remember when Mike Mozart told the story five or six years ago on his channel, and as he was telling it I was imagining what it would looked like if they made a movie, if only Joe raft was here today, because since this story came from him I think it's more than fair for him to direct it, but sadly as I'm sure a lot of pics are fans already know he tragically was killed in a car accident sometime after the production of the first cars movie, so my second option is Disney or Pixar should hire Mike Mozart to direct the Toy story prequel, because I have no doubt in my mind that he would keep it faithful as to how Joe told it to him and it would be a special tribute to Joe as well, I've actually found out in a article that pics are was developing a woody film, so who knows it could be The Toy story prequel, but it also said that it would be in the same style as lightyear, so I'm not sure if they're going to do a human version of Woody, but I guess we would have to wait and see, but I personally think a Toy story prequel is possible we can only hope.
Woody has always been my favourite character and my 1st toy story toy great theory hopefully they make a woody orgain story in the next Pixar film! Lightyear was still good tho but I wish they made a woody one first then buzz.
and your right this back story IS indeed true supercarlinbrothers did a video about this and interviewed Mike, I would love to see a live action woody like with buzz or a origin with Andy SR and that a young Al tries to steal woody and that Andy SR worked for Al's father

He’s my favorite character and I think he definitely deserves a movie all about him. Woody is iconic and I know Pixar isn’t done with toy stour just yet ☺️

But I’m generally not a fan of prequels, and I fear that Pixar would probably go a similar route that they did with Buzz Lightyear. And I really, really didn’t like that movie. That being said, I wouldn’t mind if they made a short, based on the story that you just told.

I know it’s very enticing and makes sense, but the N on Woody’s boot being backwards is very clearly written by a young Andy and his hand writing would get better over time as we see the boxes he plays with having sloppy handwriting and backwards letter like “s” but Buzz and the new toys going forward have proper handwriting of Andy on them showing he’s progressing, so that story would retcon that detail, plus I think diving into Andy’s family would be pretty unnecessary and needlessly dark, you can head canon it or take it as a bible sort of lore that just wasn’t needed in the movies, but I overall don’t entirely buy it.
💙💛🎹🎸🎻🪕 Pixar why not think of using UP and Sheriff Callie as inspiration for Woody's future motion picture?? His lifestyle fits several sections of the planet not only the popular canyon scenes. If this fun sheriff ever got a new TV series done by Disney I'd let him travel widely on more than just the American continents.
