Nice. It’s in great shape for its age. Shame about the wheels once again. Those couriers are so rough these days! This example was manufactured in October 1983.
Though I imagine Hoover would have called that “avocado” green, the colour really reminds me of mashed baby sweet peas! On another note, the North American Hoovers are now made and sold by Hong Kong based TTI, aren’t UK Hoovers made and sold by the Italian Candy company?
ibaisaic Wow. Just wow. Amazing how the communist Chinese are gobbling up the western world’s companies. Sweden’s Electrolux sold their North American Eureka division to Chinese Midea last year. And our great Kenmore vacuums are now made by Cleva in China. This is all very dangerous if you ask me. At least Bissell and Shark are still American. And Miele, Sebo and Vorwerk are still owned by German families.
The Dijon factory closed in 1993. By then Hoover had discontinued the sensotronics. And I think the Alpina was launched in 1994. So I'm guessing the last machines to be produced there would have been the compacts and vogue's?
I have no interest in vacuum cleaners, but I have one of these that my parents handed down to me which I still use to clean my car, the hose has finally split after 40 years (having been held together with tape for many years prior), where could I buy a generic spare? Thanks

Candy along with the Hoover (Europe) brand were bought by Chinese firm Haier last year.

The Galaxy was also one of the last to be made in that factory as you can see some of them in a video I uploaded about the closure.
I think I still have one of these all works not broken but don't have the hose or wands :(
Never mind, it would be satisfying to give it a good clean and polish anyway.
It’s actually fine now. Once it was opened up I got the buttons to work.
ibaisaic Excellent! Even more satisfying if you fixed it too!
Will you do an update on this?

Ebay is your best bet. As long as the ends of the hose are OK, you should be able to buy a non genuine hose to fit.
Was also a great vaccum.
