    should you disconnect the negative on the left battery? also would this code make a scanner show glow plugs being an issue to? I have this P0638 code and some for the glow plugs, but truck cranks up good.

    Thanks, I am having starting problem and it isn’t even cold yet. I have glow plug codes for every plug but one. I could see one or two plugs going out but all of them seems like it would be something else.

    2 questions.
    1. When I lookup the PO683 it said that the error was a communications error with the PCM. Is that the same thing that your scanner was saying?
    2.Can you test the glow plugs thr connector that plugs into the glow plug control module?
    Just thinking that could help rule out any wiring issues in the system if I need to test the glow plugs

    Hey I have 03 my wait to start light goes out real fast even in dead of winter and my batteries are going dead in matter of 2 or 3 days. Could my glow plug modular be bad?

    With the white smoke, how does that different if you have a egr delete? Mine won't start but blows a ton of white smoke while turning over.

      Mine does the same. And I'd like to know why as well.

      White smoke is raw fuel that it not combusting in the cylinder and indicates that there is not enough heat being generated to permit auto-ignition. It is normal, even typically for a cold 6.0 to emit a small mass of white or black smoke upon starting, particularly in cold weather. However, a constant plume of white smoke while cranking indicates that fuel is being injected into the combustion chamber, but ignition is not occurring - this is a strong indicator of a glow plug system problem.

    Still had the check engine light after starting it up. Was that something else?

      I just changed my glow plug control module today... dieseltechron says in one of his videos, this code takes 3 engine start cycles to clear and be rechecked for the issue...I confirmed this by starting and stopping my truck after replacing the module and on the 3rd start up the light was out... hope this helps you john!

      You more than likely have a high pressure oil leak. Google it, you will find lots of info.

    What if it says circuit open? P0672

      Carlos Cazares I would preform the same test in the video, test each individual glow plug. If that checks out, then look over all your wiring.

    Ok. But how do I know which plug is bad out of the 8 if one fails to have the right continuity?

    • @torquemonsters4640
      @torquemonsters4640  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whichever pin does not have the right continuity, follow that wire back through the harness and to the glowplug, that will be your bad plug.
