Your vids are the best Alex. Although you have no videos on my industrial machine, if I need to learn something about industrial machines, I always consult your vids to find something close. Your explanations and demos usually get me where I need to go. Thanks!
Yeah...so I bought one. Only lightly used &very clean. I had it professionally serviced. It's a fussy machine. Once it's set up for 1 type of stitch, on one type of fabric it'll do that pretty well. If I change even the slightest thing( eg:material, stitch length, straight or zigzag, speed, even thread brand) the upper tension needs lots of attention to dial in a perfect stitch. Even steel versus aluminum bobbins require new upper tension adjustments. I have to go through a lot of scraps to get things just right. On the other hand, My sailrite lsz-1 is quite the opposite. It's very forgiving to any changes. It requires very little adjustments or fussing to the tension when i switch fabrics, speed or type of stitch. I don't know, mabey the v138 thread makes the JUKI-LZH-1290 more sensitive.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Sewing is a skill I am sort of hobby-developping. Maybe I'll manage to make a canvas bag in the future. thanks for sharing!
Hi Alexander, I’m looking for a machine like this for shoes. I need the ability to do zigzag stitching. Do you have a recommended place on getting one of these and/or a list of similar Japanese machines like this? Thanks
Do you know how to make the needle end in the up position instead of down? Ours currently ends down (because we have auto thread trim) but we want it to end up. Just curious if you knew how to tweak that.
Sounds like you have a needle positioner. First there is a setting in the controls where you can choose whether a machine is normally up or normally down. Second with a heal down press on the foot pedal the machine should advance half a rotation to the opposite position so in your case to the up.
Wish you had shown this at the lowest stitch length setting, would’ve been out looking to buy this machine right away. But oh well, thanks for the video anyway.
Alexander, I got myself a Juki industrial sewing machine this past Friday. It never had a manual of instructions. Do you have a DDL 555-4 or any videos of yours in use?
Congrats on getting a Juki ISM. I like Juki. I don't have a 555 but I did have an 8700 which to my eye is very similar. th-cam.com/video/2PJII-fOnp4/w-d-xo.html
Great videos ! I have a Singer industrial 20 U made in Japan. I was told that it's a good machine, not as good as the older, USA built machines, but much better than the newer, made in China machines. The person that gave me that information was a repairman. Any truth to that ? Going to have fun sewing leather and levis materials for art projects
Some yes but these things can get very complicated over the eras and nothing is absolute. Industrial machines in the home and hobbyist setting will last and last. They are built to sew 24\7. Have fun with your machine, its a good one. I have had a couple over the years and made a video or two featuring them.
Hi Mr. Dyer ! Can you tell me where to get presser feet, a bobbin case and users manual for this machine ? Juki doesn't answer phone calls or emails. I get vacant looks and no rhythm from my local sewing stores. Thanks !

That's cool. Thanks
That's awesome! I gotta get me an industrial zig zag one day!

nice demo, great machine. it's the one drawback of my walking foot - no zigzag.
I keep an old home machine around for the rare case that I need a zig zag or a small thread project.

Will this machine sew lite weight material like cordera or surlast like making back packs. Thank Fred
I should think so. If you can test it out though that is best.

is it rare to see a truly straight stitch from a zigzag machine?
I don't think so.
