  • Bought the EJ when I was 15 years old for $825 back in 1985. I am the second owner and it only has 62,000 miles on the clock. It has been sitting in my parents shed in country South Australia for the past 20 years but its finally time to get her out, dust her off, fix her up and cruise around a bit.
Seeing the layers of 20 year old dust being washed away is one of the most satisfying things I've seen in a while!
Just the kind of country shed find that car enthusiasts dream about!

Fantastic...Didn't care much for the EJ as a kid, and when a teen, liked the EH better. Now? The EJ is the most beautiful Holden ever. I rank it Number one I love the FE/FJs and HQs too. EJ is gorgeous. The lovely rake of the side strip, taillights, little fins, curved window, roofline, and the grill. Fantastic. Good on you. Loved seeing this.

Something vaguely satisfying seeing that dirt wash off. I had an EH in the same colour...balhanna green

Yes satisfying and strangely disturbing feeling just how time has flown on by watching my son wash the dust off a car that I bought when I was 15!

Wow, scrubbed up nicely. I thought a lot of that dirt was rust

It was. But it all came right off! Used special water shipped in from the Swiss Alps mixed with fairy dust and unicorn pee. Amazing!😜👊

I'm amazed by the lack of rust, especially the front guards which were always notorious for rust.

Lancered hi, there are few little spots but you’re right, nothing major inc y frames totally free of rust - far from the coast and v dry in the Riverland.

Hey thanks, and yeh, keeping her out in a desert all its life certainly helped with the rust!

Hi, bet you wish you had your dad's now to restore! Thought about selling mine a few times over the years but couldn't quite bring myself to do it + my folks were happy to store it in their shed for the last 20 years so that helped!

The rattling noise of a grey motor 138 was because in the Head it had Solid Lifters. I sold my EJ prem for $35 in 1982. Of course there was plenty of them in those days.
That EJ of yours is in great condition. I love that DT Yammy Too. Im looking for an FC- HG to restore with my son. Cheers Country Cars Never Rust.

Lol the comment of people paying next to nothing for these cars is making me not believe it.
Also my favourite Holden model ever. It would be a dream to own one.

Ha you can believe it. Picked oranges to pay off the 825 bucks. Back then it was about $12 a bin and I could manage 3-4 bins a day! Glad I don’t need to pick oranges anymore to buy my cars and bikes!👊

I have restored every holden and ford known to every Australian over the years i even built a 1964 eh ute from all new panels and parts from gmh in north Fremantle as part of my first apprenticeship i did three of these in the day i spent all ,of my life in the automotive industry and i am happy to see the young generation today so keen to continue with with it i know that the days of duco and acrylics are gone but its for the sake of all the old cars anyway please look after all of the old cars for the generation s to come from 1948

I had one in the early eighties $50 , red motor and 3 on the tree , I knew others that paid $10 for theirs

    • @kawakarma
      @kawakarma  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Bet you wished you had hung onto it with decent specimens going for upwards of $20K now! Ha, and you've reminded me that a cousin of mine bought a HD for a six pack in the 80's and drove it to Bathurst from Adelaide with his mates!! When they were there they took to the front guards with an axe and cut some in some monaro flutes! Thanks for the comment.
