Hazards of the Hobbie!
มุมมอง 1454 หลายเดือนก่อน
After fracturing my leg about 8 weeks ago, coming off my KLX450R, I had a bit of time to once again contemplate my hobbie and it's inherent hazards. Here's a few ruminations on why I persist riding motorcycles when I know it can hurt or even kill me!
Ducati 600ss Last Ride - Dealing with some sellers regret!
มุมมอง 1.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Sold my 1997 Ducati 600ss full fairing recently after a few years of being in a love-loath-love relationship with the bike. Love the look of her, loathed the maintenance and ropiness at low speeds, loved the sound and feel winding her out! Ah well, this was my last ride...Ciao Bella!

Kawasaki ZXR750H1 Chill Coast Cruz - Coz gerhal told me to!
มุมมอง 2277 หลายเดือนก่อน
Just a chilled cruise along the Adelaide coast on the ZXR750H1 and its kind of all about those iconic vacuum hoses! Also, Gerhal apparently needs some more ZXR content in his life and I do what I can to please!😁👍

Touring on a Kawasaki ZH2...R U NUTS?!
มุมมอง 637ปีที่แล้ว
Touring on a ZH2? Well, not really, just a longer ride than this beast was ever built for! 300kms from Adelaide to the Riverland and back in South Australia with a load of musings on riding this route late last century on other inappropriate bikes and some family history ruminations as I go to visit my father. A visit to some spots on the river and our ancestral home... AND a bloody near miss @...

Love ej n eh.had both.still got 2. My eh is a 63. Beautiful car mate😊
Is that a rc shark?
Ha, yep, sure is...quite cool how it works!
roll the gas as a lady ha ha
What an awesome thing! Best way to tell an early EJ is by the ashtray. If it curves around it's early. They later were straight and carried onto the EH.
@@grahamrichards481 ha! Cheers, I didn’t know that one👊
I still have my Pantah 600, I can’t sell er.
What a beautiful old thing! Happiness is an EJ Holden.
Great to see, cheers
Hey, great job! I'm trying to restore my rear shock absorbers as well. Where did you find the seals and most importantly the new springs? Thanks a lot for your help!
Great bike. ❤❤❤❤
Put a short pipe on it
What an awesome old car
Great job Mate, are you in Adelaide?
... That was my first Bike .. In the US the Name on it is Enduro ... Brought back memories .. I could feel the bike as you went thru the gears ... good job
So refreshing to see a practical car... instead of all those giant niki sneakers driving around !!!
If that was a Canadian car you would still be trying to get the first wheel nut off.
give it some welly then !! she wants to fly
Fuck that, a sick wheelie is 100% worth the cost. Whats the use of modern medicine if we don't use it right! We're helping promote internal limits and medicine
@@stuartmcdonald8683 ha, didn’t think of it that way! And quite right- it was worth it!!👊
What a beautiful looking EJ, a shame to see it on the back of a tow truck ❤
When I used to play baseball, my favourite position was catcher. My knees could no longer take it. I had a friend tell me, if you want to keep playing, maybe you should play another position. This extended my playing days for a few more seasons. I applied this logic to riding. Had to give up the single trail (trail bikes). Still have bikes, just not the ones that could potentailly shorten my abilty to ride.
Spot on man! A key part of the planning that came out my down time was to transform the KLX and CRF into light ADVs so my son and I could do more exploring rather than belting around thru the scrub. We’re planning some big trips now which is half the fun! Cheers👊
You're over thinking it. There are two kinds of people in the world, those who ride bikes and those who don't. If you ride shit can happen, you just deal with it and move on. Get well soon and get back on your bike and enjoy yourself.
Ha,yeh, I had the time so thought I’d go ahead and overthink it!😁👊
Complete beauty, bliss, fulfillment, wholeness, delight…. come up sailing, mate…bring some with’ya
I will! We gotta set it up!
lol. You show off you fall off
Better a broken bone than a broken spirit! Wish you a speedy recovery, mate 👊
Speedy recovery,mate.
❤nice, likes this model. I got only rr Kawasaki 150, raider Suzuki + Z900! This one so good c/w supercharge
Great old car.
You really captured the sounds and feel of the bike, the bike has gone but as I have one and put a dynojet kit through it I can tell you it sound like someone has done that as I took the kit off as it always fouled the plugs, the standard jetting never did though.
Really good bike
Riverland SA?
@@tedburnard841 Yep!
The Hydramatic auto in those things hum like a bee hive😂
Ha, yes, the legendary short changing hydramatic! I had an Aunt that had a hydramatic silver premier/red interior that I desperately wanted to get my hands on but of course it went to one her kids that wasnt interested and just up and sold it without letting me know!😩
Just awesome enough said 😂😂
verde bianco e rossa xro😂
il mio sogno da bambino di 16 anni❤
Ha, my son is 16 years old and there's no way I'm letting him on this bike!😅
You know you have a quick shifter with auto blip, right?
Ha, yeh, old habits dying real hard! Much more bike than I can ever use but I love it!👊
@@kawakarma Make sure it's turned on in the menu. The quickshifter is kind of addictive after a while. It ads a whole new perspective to riding. You have to be above 2500 RPM to use it tho...
Brings back memories and kids today wouldn't have a clue how to drive classics like this , my Dad taught me how to drive the same way in a HR.
Looks great mate. I think this bike is a bit of a unicorn. It's probably the only bike one can buy new in 2024 which is still carbureted, has a backup kickstart and no electronic assists. It's a bit like the DRZ (which you can still buy a kickstart conversion kit for) but this one has more power in stock trim and is a much lighter bike. Believe it or not quite a few people have put some adventure miles on the KLX450R and it's been touted as having a very reliable engine.
@@dune7824 Ha, I’d just resolved to sell the KLX and get a CRF450RL and you send me a message like this! My son and I planning some longer trips and doing some light ADV mods to his CRF450RL, already got the Nomad 20L tank on it and actually think I can get one to work on the KLX and seat concepts on both. I love the KLX but quite a lot of parts for it are tricky to come by now and the CRF is I think maybe the best platform around for this kind of go anywhere conversion. It’s certainly smoother if not a touch heavier than the KLX and the CRF’s 6th gear is a thing. And the fuel injection is actually pretty nice and a bit less temperamental. Well now you make me think twice for sure tho! Cheers 👊
🏍👍👍👍
@@stephenwalsh8184 👊👊👊!😁
The power is really manageable. You wouldn't say you ride a beast.
@@dorstefan you’re right, the ZH2 is v smooth and after 6500kms on it I’m used to the way it pulls - and pulls and pulls if you want it to. But when I first rode it the bike was like nothing I’d ridden before and the way it looks ‘beast’ does come to mind - total blast! 👊
My 238whp zh2 begs to differ 😂😂 that things a monster
@@Donotcareabyouropinion Ha yeh. You can keep it tame of course but it’s not what it was built for and the monster is always grumbling and twittering there ready to be released at any moment! 😁🤙
Hi mate , you have done a great job on your DT . Just picked up a 76 model yesterday , it’s a 250 as well . Looking forward to getting into it . All the best with it .Safe biking . Cheers Reece . From Drouin .
@@mndbinaisse8382 Awesome! ‘76 was a great year for the bike. Just changing tank shape and paint job really stepped up its enduro appearance. All the best with the restoration. I found it so therapeutic and stuck my mantra of only working on it when I felt like it (which was most of the time anyway!) and just stopped when anything got a bit frustrating! Look forward to seeing how your comes up if you post a vid. Cheers
Great beginner Ducati!
Great beginner Ducati but not such a great beginner first bike!😁
@@kawakarma I concur! But if I had one in my early twenties,I wouldn't mind spending all the time in garage tinkering with it as long as I could ride it on Sunday's mornings without major problems. And the half fairing version is double as sexy in my humble opinion, doesn't hint that SS(supersport) designation so much,as it isn't a supersport in the real sense of the word, again in my humble opinion 🙃
Im having the same issue with fowling plugs also. Im working to figure out why. Theres something wrong thats causing it. I hope you told the buyer the issue before he gets stranded somewhere!
Certainly told him it ran rich but he didn’t care as he was buying it to completely strip and restore the bike as his first motorcycle project after spending years restoring cars! So everyone was happy!
600SS was my first bike after passing my test in "96. Cost me £4000 second hand. Got used to the power really quickly. Chopped it in for a 748 a year later. No regrets 😊
@@thetonetosser yeh I actually bought it for my daughter’s first bike - you can see that vid - but she never rode it - wife said no way! Even tho it’s not, it looks fast but does have a bit too much Italian character- she bought herself a Kwacha 400 instead! Also, v happy actually, sold her for $1,500 more than I’d paid and only spent about $500 on it while I had it😁👊
@@kawakarmaI always wanted a RVF400 back in the day. Finally got one a couple of years back. Lovely bike to ride but I'd forgotten how low powered these bikes are. Had it a couple of years then sold it. Now I want an RC45 but my bank account isn't interested 😊
Been there, know the feeling.. Lovely bike too, sounds great for a 600! 🔥
nice job love it❤
I was sad when I sold my 600 Supersport. Then 2 days later someone bought my Moto Guzzi Griso. 2 italian princesses gone in 48 hours. I would buy another Supersport without hesitation. Maybe the 900 one day.
I enjoyed watching the restoration of your 600. Nicely done! I think if I ever get another Ducati it might be a Sport 1000 although I’d probably need help getting shoehorned into the riding position!😁👊
Sorry to hear that. Man I wish we would have got the 600 in the states I would have gotten one when I was younger for sure.
What year ninja 400 is it?
