I think Lois needed to send that unspoken message to herself as well as Oliver. She needed to make sure he didn't misinterpret that smile. She didn't want to hurt Oliver, but needed him to know exactly where she stood.
You know.. for all it feels like she’s being a bitch and yanking out ollies heart here…. It’s not like it’s PDA #1 either… so Lois and Clark had already started on that path…
While others may interpret what she did as a slap in the face, I think it's something Lois needed to do for herself. She had a tough time finally dating Clark and I think she needed to send that message to herself as well as Oliver.
@@ryanabate1981 I think Lois knew where she’d be hanging her “hat” at that point. We learn much later that her time on the farm was much more than just a convenient place to crash. It had become a ‘adoptive’ home for the army brat who hadn’t had one since her mother died. Think about how she reacted while Clark was putting the farm up for sale thinking he had to move on. It’s somewhat the same here. By this point, she ‘knew’ Lana and Clark were “done” and she had to invest herself in Clark. Ollie would just have been back peddling. At which point… it would also have left room for another to be with Clark… she moved to slowly before (Chloe’s wedding).
@@thomask70 I don't think she knew that yet. She hadn't asked Chloe about the Lana relationship until after she learned Clark's secret. Her asking meant she still had questions. My point was that I don't think Lois intended to hurt Oliver but she has always been someone to make it clear where she stood. She didn't do it for Clark since he never knew, his back was turned. She did it for herself, like a message to herself that she was serious about this one
@@ryanabate1981 Agree on that...She made the choice for herself...which she time and again had told Ollie, but the incident of Disciple(she was targeted for being Oliver's lover), the longing looks Oliver had been giving her throughout the season and in this episode, Oliver telling her he still loves her, plus the looks he gave when Clois came out as a couple...Lois needed to reaffirm that she has moved on, and Oliver needs to move on too. She loved him as a friend, and she wanted him to be happy too.
@Shubhra Sarkar You basically said a simpler way of what I was trying to say. Oliver wanted to be with Lois again for the wrong reasons. He was hurting, he killed Lex, his life was on a major ball swing. The last time he had been happy was when he was with Lois, so he was trying to get that back.
