The system in the demo was fine, but early-game itemization is so unimportant that you can generally skip it on subsequent plays. The endgame itemization didn't do enough to transition you from the rapid replacement meta in the early game. Endgame just felt like the same thing as before, only slower now. The loot patch fixed that by introducing an actual endgame item system, in addition to slowly adding more crafting options as you progress.

The beta was actually good, the level cap prevented you from seeing the problems. It was also the most fun I had as a sorcerer. I love this video, reminds me of those small moments exploring for the first time before my option had changed.
I am playing free on gamepass and a level 100 necro minion which was so broken you could do trillion damage. Trillion with a T! Sorcerer lvl 100 is total trash. Everything is broken and the patches make it worse. There's been 4 "best new sorcerer build" in the last 6 days. They all suck because the game glitches and reroll is broken plus the builds always have bugs. Also with temper and affixes never working it takes so long to make the build and gear actually work. It seems like every 2 days they patch something or new bugs are figured out so every character has new builds and gear. I'm so glad I didn't pay for this game.
Yea, that's why It' was actually a scam. Seconds after beta level the game turned to shit on launch. Almost everything cool in the game was in beta and rest 75 level were a job where you pay for working.

The beta was fun, because it was that ooh shiny new game. but then you realized how much of a grind there was, an unfun grind, and that killed it. Open world was an awful awful idea, and i personally think the skill trees suck too.

Story was+is not worth playing. Season 4 is much better in terms of crafting and leveling though. If you haven't played since launch give it another try with a new seasonal character and just skip campaign.

Give Grim Dawn a go. Despite D2 being my favorite for years, Grim Dawn has 5x the amount hours played in 1/3 of the years since release. Story? Meh. Mechanics? Holy shit.
No other game is ever going to feel better than D2 for you because what you feel is nostalgia of it, and you were a lot younger then, so those memories have a greater impact than current events will ever have for you in the future.

Like all good AAA games the game was probably great. Up until the marketing team had their input on how or what systems they could decimate to squeeze the most money out of the project.
To be fair the first several hours is by far the best campaign experience you’ll find in an arpg. And if you treat it as a single player story driven game, in the arpg genre, it’s the best out there. The problem arises when arpg fans expect arpgs to be mmo-lites, something with a substantial amount of replayability and character customisation depth. And while D4 did try to implement some mmo-lite systems, it completely failed at developing those systems into anything meaningful so the game feels really fucking bland once you get through the initial campaign.!
Nah man, I've played Diablo games for years and this was very different. It isn't that this game is trying to be an MMO-lite. It is functionally a bag arpg that is trying to make you pay through the nose for every little thing.

Item progression is not great, but I agree with the rest. The game is great outside of that and some repetitive dungeon design. Visuals, sound effects, art design, gameplay and controls are all perfection.

Diablo 4 has been incredible lately. All the sour grapes from launch that are still ragging on it have probably not played it recently. This last season was amazing and I’m excited for the next one in a week.

I keep seeing people complain about this being a rip off of 20MTD etc. So what? All these types of games are copies of eachother. What makes it different is the visuals. And imo, this game looks waaaay better than 20MTD and Vampire survivors etc. Call me crazy, but the 4 bit graphics dont really do it for me. Neither does the art style of 20MTD. This game looks great, if its reasonably priced ($10 or less) I will be purchasing

I didn't like how each season forced me to make a new character if I wanted the new season gear. Don't do that game. I like my characters, don't force me to abandon them. It makes me stop playing.

It may seem easy but it's really just easier to get to the endgame. The Tormented versions of Bosses are level 200!!! There's also Echo of Lilith and The Pit which scales exponentially in difficulty

I stopped playing during season 2, after season 1 left me feeling very burnt out. My dad convinced me to get back into it with him for season 4 though and, while I still have a pretty lengthy list of complaints with the game, its fun enough now that I can overlook them for the most part and just enjoy being a goofy necromancer doing goofy necromancer things with the glorious pun of a name that is "Nickromancer"
I wonder what his thoughts were after it actually came out? They ended up reworking a ton of stuff - not as much as Diablo 3 did, but quite a bit. I actually think the story is kind of weak as well - Inarius should have had a much bigger role. Lilith just seems so much less threatening as a final boss Still no Paladin either.
TBF D4 in the first 10ish hours isn't shit at all, in some ways even better than D3... but that late game was so terrible that once you get to it, it basically makes D4 unplayable boring/shit. This was his opinion in the early stages where the gameplay/action is good and story is still interesting.
It's so funny how much hate there is for diablo 4. Meanwhile, people who don't nit pick every single aspect of a game in season 1 or earlier are having a blast. Season 5 is awesome!

After trying D4, still to this day, nothing beats D2 original and LOD. That game gave me a lifetime of memories.
Diablo 2 LoD really was pinacle arpg.
And the skill synergy patch revived the game after a while.

Luckily it aged well. Went from a fantastic first play with a pretty terrible endgame to now being a very good endgame, not quite fantastic tho.

TBF D4 in the first 10ish hours isn't shit at all, in some ways even better than D3... but that late game was so terrible that once you get to it, it basically makes D4 unplayable boring/shit.
This was his opinion in the early stages where the gameplay/action is good and story is still interesting.
It's nice to see a streamer that isn't just trashtalking their games, only focusing on the negatives.

It's so funny how much hate there is for diablo 4. Meanwhile, people who don't nit pick every single aspect of a game in season 1 or earlier are having a blast. Season 5 is awesome!
