Those are 3 hitter bottles. What surprises me the most is that the OF 150 didn’t stick out like a sore thumb. It has an intense banana note that you can only get on Brown-Forman products because of the yeast strain they use.
Looking back on the Kentucky Owl episode, Dutch really liked the bottle. Jules and Dillon not so much. I think it shows how much the label plays into it. Knowing that it is a $300 bottle may have influenced scores negatively. I happen to love B9. Matt Porter did as well. He blinded it against everything he could in 2020. It won every time, but ended up not coming out on top for his whiskey of the year. I think that was a multi-way blind.
Dillon says blinds are flawed. I sort of agree, but I also think they are needed if you want to become a better taster. It is not all book knowledge.

King of Kentucky will beat Kentucky Owl #9, which i'm pretty sure is just 2 different ages of Elijah Craig juice, which is impressive for what it is. Stagg sticks out so much I don't know how anyone can taste it and say it's anything else. Time for GTS vs KoK
Would have liked them to smell the glass and verify by comparing the smell of the bottle. Really like these guys, but they have messed up before.

That being said, I could never justify paying full price for a Kentucky Owl but tried it at a bar recently, and was shocked at how good it was.
A fun blind. But I can’t imagine how Jules and Dillon got such off profile notes from an ECBP bottle that they previously enjoyed. Makes no sense.

Th e whole point of drinking whiskey is knowing what you are diving into. Whiskey competitions by blind tasting don't make any sense
if it is your first time here - you may be surprised to know that we totally agree with you. We do the occasional blind because they can be fun and sometimes revealing - but comparisons like this only really reveal relative strengths/flavors, etc.
Dutch says "guys" way too much. Dylan uses "jams" a lot and Jules you never know wtf he is going to come up with.
