That scene where Sans jumps in front of Swap Paps is one of my favorites in the whole series. I love how he didn't even hesitate; it didn't even matter that it technically wasn't "his" brother. He just wasn't going to let that happen again.
That's one of the plot twists. That shouldn't happen.. not because Sans was no supposed to do that, but because he shouldn't be able to have "the motivation" that made him do that.

Just to let you know:
X-Event Chara, X-Tale Chara, X-Chara and Cross-Chara are all the same person.
X-Chara didn't kill the people in UnderSwap, he just teleported them to his own universe.
If you have the power of OVERWRITE, you can change a characters behavior to the point, where you completely control them. That's why UnderSwap Sans attacked at a certain scene his brother, because he was controlled by X-Chara.
You will know soon enough what it's up about with the container on Ink's body.
overwrite can also change the timeline completely without breaking ink and errors' truce
I'm pretty sure X!Chara is just called Cross!Chara when he is inside Cross' body. when hes alone, it's X!Chara (original name) or X-Event!Chara (for Underverse)
also, the Overwrite works just as its name says. instead of creating a new timeline just like the original Reset button, it Overwrites the timeline theyre in
Underverse was the first Undertale animation series that I watched, and 0.3 part 2 (which was the most recent episode at the time) absolutely BLEW MY MIND when I first watched it. The animation, the fight scenes, the insane roller coaster of emotions, the MUSIC... this is easily NyxTheShield's best episode imo, and honestly this might be my favorite 30 minutes of animation from anything ever

Ink doesn't have a soul, hence he cannot feel emotions at all. He uses all those vials and drinks them to be able to feel for a limited time before he needs to drink again.
That special vial is different though. It's a huge plot point later.

Im going to explain some things
Whenever any character say « him »in purple,they are talking about x gaster
X chara is able to overwrite because he took half of x gaster soul(yes x chara is a boy)
Ink has no feeling because he shattered his soul long time ago because the creator weren’t satisfied from him(the creator are literally anyone that created the sans au,make comic or fanart of it,they basically do whatever they want and ink goal is to satisfy them)and the purple glowy vial is the other half of a soul,wich is important for the plot
Since you were shocked about nightmare regenerating,there is only two way to kill him definitely:use a lot of positive feeling(they wasn’t enough positive energy in dream arrow barrage that is why nightmare was still alive)or just obliterate every single one of his cells

To this day, Overwrite is still my favorite Underverse theme
Btw since i see no one correcting this and more then enough explaining the XChara stuff. But XChara and XFrisk are both males. In most normal aus Frisk and Chara are they-them. Though in some AUs like in Reapertale Frisk and Chara are females. But yea it was slightly getting to me each time you called XChara a she so i had to point it out. lol

What are his heart-shaped vials for? His vials keep paints of color that are adapted just for him, and each vial gives him a range of emotions. He fills them at his Doodlesphere regularly. Ink needs these since he doesn't have a soul and can't feel on his own.

Just saying nightmare can't be physically hurt so you could say he is unkillable and again I would suggest you watch xtale off camera it takes places before underverse and it's really really really important
It was already suggested by the creator to watch underverse first, THEN XTale
He can be killed if enough positive feeling manage to hit him or just if you obliterate every single one of his cells

BTW Zalzar just thought you'd like to know that a comic dubber named Bettina Levy made a dub of Underfell found here: th-cam.com/play/PLeA-DIUzruD35IsZ3BR3pXJUybXWaij-D.html. She seemed to stop at Waterfall as the last upload was more than 2 years ago but it would give you a really good idea of how the universe works.
If i say what is inside that vial, it will be a BIG SPOILER so im not gonna do that.
As someone else said, all X!Tale Charas are the same, they just change appearance depending on their power, state or age.
The X-Event is explained later, not that really important but worth understanding.
All the "X" and prefixes are just to differenciate between characters easily (well there's some funny jokes behind their names but it's just funny details, unnecesary to understand the story).
The vial's content is a major spoiler so I won't be talking about it. Ink is also very related to the plot so I'll just say one thing about him: He doesn't have a soul and thus cannot feel emotions by his own, he needs to drink from his "emotion" (paint) vials to actually feel emotions.
Oh and last but not least whenever they talk about "him", or anything in purple really, they're talking about X!Gaster. You'll understand way more in 0.4 and after watching the prequel, it all connects.

Btw, it seems like your having a bad time with the names saying Underswap sans and all. I said it to some of my comments but you can use their nicknames created by the fandom. Original sans as Classic, Underfell sans and papyrus as Red and Edge and Underswap sans and papyrus as Blue and Stretch. And you really don't need to figure out the different kinds of Xchara just simply call him as that, cross chara and x-event chara isn't really a canon thing.
Now to Ink! He was really strange in this episode huh? I said it in the comments before that Ink protects the multiverse in exchange for something and that is paints that give him emotions because surprising enough, Ink doesn't have a soul. I would love to explain why but It's quite long, there's an official comic for Ink though. It's only one chapter and it perfectly explain how he became to be, there's also a comic dub of that in youtube too. Back to the topic, since Ink doesn't have a soul he needs the vials on his sash to feel emotions. Without those vials, Ink will be an empty emotionless monster (fun fact, the container of Inks vials are like the one in the original undertale. You know? The containers where the sic souls where kept. This information may or may not be important to the plot, no spoilers though) this can be a bit of a spoiler but seriously it has been hinted all over the episode with dream saying he can't feel anything from Ink, his eye lights are all white with no shapes and him just simply watching everything, doing nothing like a jerk but yeah, Ink isn't drinking his vials making him emotionless slowly but surely. Let's just say at this point ink can't be trusted anymore.
Extra: Fresh hates cussing, see the part where Red keeps trying to curse? Fresh was censoring all of it XD
Dream immediately got at the scene though cause Stretch was having his happy flashbacks And yes! Dream can attack Nightmare, he isn't as softie as he looks like. He does know that Nightmare really can't die as long as there is negative emotions on the multiverse.
I'm pretty recent with Undertale compared to the others I only started when pandemic came! I am happy that I can share my knowledge though! Hope I can continue to help!
