  • Searching for challenge and adventure, childhood friends Audrey and Mavis embark on the 336-kilometer East Coast Trail in Newfoundland, Canada. Walking along the rugged coastline for days, swallowed in fog, the friends are faced with confusion, forced to reflect on what brought them there, what their true motivations are.

I just finished watching your video. It is an adventure that I hope to tackle someday. Although you don't know me and we will likely never meet, I am also very proud of you! Thank you for bringing us along on your adventure!!

Well done girls, really enjoyed watching. Too bad ye never made it to the spout, you would have loved seeing that. I live very close to Petty Harbour and have walked the spout trail many times and it’s a beautiful area as all of Newfoundland is. Hope you come back one day to finish the rest of the trail. Cheers

Don't feel bad about not finishing it, the ECT has some VERY tough sections. Hiking in NL in October spares you from summer heat and bugs, but you risk the fog and rain and that can be very demoralizing for anyone. Come back in July or August one year to finish the trail and the weather will mostly be on your side. Great job on getting done what you did.

What an incredible story. Thanks for sharing your experience and being so open and vulnerable.
This trip will be with you your whole lives and hopefully you'll have many more great trips ahead!
I'm planning on Soloing a section of the trail this fall... Any favorite parts or recommendations?

Just watched this. You two should be very proud. The ECT is one of the toughest trails to tackle and you two went at it alone and started with the hardest legs. A lot of my trail running friends have been to Europe and the mid west and they say the ECT is so technical and tough. And being so fresh into this you did amazing. Don’t be hard on yourselves. Be proud. Come back and finish it whenever.

Loved your video it was very refreshing and honest, as someone older then both your ages added and probably considered successful having worked in a few large companies at high level positions, that feeling of what should I do with my life, am I doing the best with my life never goes away for some of us no matter what we do. We keep searching for what is right, what is next. Doing stuff that makes you question why and I doing this is important, why am I in this job, why am I in the relationship, why am I doing this hike. The important lessons are to always question, always challenge yourself and always focus on the good things about the journey while making sure the bad things are not negatively dragging you down. Many times you never feel the joy that accomplishment gives you after a hard task is done until days, weeks, years after you did it when you can look back on it from a moment in the future you never knew you'd be at. *You can't fail if you never try* Best wishes and Peace.

Audrey this is your cousin Liz Machado. Your dad told me about your movie and I just watched it. Wow. It takes so much courage to make a change. A humbling experience as you both stated but also a wonderful learning experience. Sorry not to see you this summer. Maybe next year! Thank you for this film!

Amazing girls on a soul searching adventure… with a strong connection to Mother Earth and a respect for her magnitude. You will be back - a step at a time, a journey at a time. May compassion and patience be your companions.

Ladies, you started from the most difficult direction having to find your trail legs right from the get go. I know from experience. If you decide to hike the ECT again I would recommend starting from Cappahayden. The trail NOBO from there is not so demanding and it gives you a chance find your trail legs. That's my plan for 2024.
